We had a great time with this escape room! The museum heist mystery was engaging from start to finish, and the puzzles were clever and satisfying to solve. I'd rate the difficulty as medium to difficult. Even though we needed a few clues along the way, it never took away from the fun--in fact, it kept the game moving and made the experience even more enjoyable. We have done many escape rooms and Breakout is one of our favorites! We even have the box set called Dispatch that you do at home, not sure if this is an option anymore since we got it in 2018. This company definitely got some things right! The service here has always been exceptional. Breakout along with other companies are moving away from the standard key and combo locks and integrating more "magic" as one of the hosts called it. More moving parts and ones that just open automatically when a puzzle is solved which is much more fun so if you haven't been in a while I'd say this is your cue to book a new room. My favorite room at this location was Do Not Disturb which doesn't exist in Ohio anymore but most recently we did Museum Heist. It was engaging with clues that could be solved by kids and adults. We had a party of five and made it out in time with our youngest player being 13. The clues are fun and challenging and the hints are given on a TV screen when you ask for them. I do prefer the ones where you can just speak to the host but these hints are specific to what you ask, you just may have to walk to the other room to see the TV. That is the only slightly negative thing I have to say because we love this company! If you've never been then this is a good place to start because they all seem passionate about escape rooms and making sure people enjoy it. Booked an escape room for my birthday and this was such a fun group activity! This experience was a first for a few of us so we were definitely surprised (in a good way). We tried out the Wild West room, it was new to their collection. I highly recommend this one. Warning that you do need to be blindfolded and "handcuffed" for the first portion of the experience. They have procedures in place if anyone has a freak out or if you need to leave of course. For the sake of keeping this room a mystery and that we don't ruin the fun for others, pictures and video aren't allowed in the rooms. 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a fun experience during a celebration, group bonding, date night, etc. You get the whole room to yourselves. read more

Went for their Mystery Mansion breakout room. It had a few rooms where we had to solve puzzles in each of these to get to the next. Had a little of math in there, which you could probably solve that mentally or do your workings on the whiteboard provided. Not my first time doing a Breakout room, but my first at their Columbus location. we did Runaway Train since the others we preferred were already booked, but enjoyed it! Our gamemaster Luna was really helpful; we tried to not ask for many hints but he chimed in more in the last few minutes to ensure we completed it in time. That was nice, I'm glad we made it out successfully without needing 72 hints (!!!!!!!!!!) like he said one group did. It was challenging but we completed it with about 5 hints and 2 minutes to spare, and it was all rational answers, nothing too ridiculous that didn't make any sense like I've experienced with other companies. Went with a large group. We've gone to other escape rooms before. It was really nice that it was multiple rooms and not just a single room like some escape rooms. It had neat features and had a pretty well developed environment. The clues on the other hand were not so well designed and at least one was flat out wrong. The one we did also had a large amount of math involved so that was off putting. Probably would have helped to have more than one white board. This was my first Breakout experience! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect because all I've ever seen are the after pictures where people didn't escape and got turned into zombies or locked up or whatever. My bestie and her hubs were in town around Halloween and since I refuse to do the haunted house thing we opted for the escape room experience. There were several options to choose form and we chose the scenario where a serial killer has trapped us in a hotel room where we've tracked the killer. There were 6 of us and only 2 had ever done an escape room before so it took some time to figure out where to start (which really ended up all of us just randomly tapping, touching, pulling, and lifting things around the room in hopes to find the random clues to get us out) Needless to say, even with a few helpful hints from the Gamemaster (that's what I'm calling our 'guide') we failed to catch the killer and all became his victims. It was a great time for the price and definitely a good team building event or date night idea! read more

Did this as a team building, not every day you can say you were handcuffed to a bed with 7 teammates. Did Kidnapping room which was of interest to all those who love the Dateline Murder Mystery and True Crime. Don't worry, of course, you can escape the handcuffs to leave for any reason at all (bathroom, phone call, overwhelmed, etc.). Our room master (supervisor...not sure the proper title) was super friendly and very passionate about escape rooms. We chatted with him for a bit about other rooms he's seen, the process to create them. He made the experience exciting and I could trust him as I entered a dark room handcuffed and blindfolded. His legally obligated and intro speech continually reminded us the only way to escape is through the door AND don't try to climb into the ceiling (I guess it happened once). The room is supervised the entire time and they are there to give hints, if you ask. I can only imagine how entertaining it is on their side to see this all unfold. I'd defin go back to try another room. And no, we didn't escape, but we did get to the last step. And the best team builder I've done. read more

This type of thing is right up my alley for fun stuff to do around Columbus! Since the first time going to Breakout, we have gone back and played twice more. All of the employees have been great to work with, the rooms are clean and organized, and the games are a mix of difficult but doable. We will definitely come back to finish the other games. For anyone who hasn't done an escape room, the key is to find clues around the room to open locks or get codes for keypads that allow you to move on. The final clue allows you to "open" the door so you can get out. This is not any type of game where anyone is hiding in the room or you are being chased by zombies. It's just a series of puzzles to figure out. There are quite a few different rooms you can book, we have enjoyed all of them so far, the only negative being that once you complete all of the rooms you can't go back until they change them up! read more

We got this as Christmas gift and now, we are hooked! We did 2 rooms so far: Runaway Train and Museum Heist. Both were awesome! The 1st one was the train and was just my group of 4 and being as we had no idea what we were doing, we asked for tons of clues and still didn't make it in time. But, that didn't deter us and we left talking about what we could've done differently and wanting to try again. Our 2nd adventure was the museum heist and we were paired with 2 other couples (luckily, we ended up working well as a team) and we all had done at least one room. This room was one you needed at least 4 people for, IMO (esp for the end). We didn't ask for a lot of clues this time around and manage to break out with 44 seconds left. The adrenaline was flowing the last 10-15 mins as we scrambled to finish in time. We have enjoyed the rooms so far! They are designed and executed beautifully, the level of challenge is high but you wont feel like it's impossible to complete. The staff is friendly, helpful, and the building is clean. In town for a day trip, and with a few hours to kill before dinner, my friend and I started searching for something to do. After striking out with relaxation options, we came upon Breakout Games. Solid reviews, interactive, and fit our timeline perfectly. We had never done an escape room before, so pulling in, our expectations were all over the place. Even entering the lobby, it resembles something more like a commercial store than a daring and challenging escape room business. There is a lot of red. We were told we would have two other people in our group, giving us 4 minds to try and break out. The additions had just completed another escape room at a different facility to the south, and decided to try Breakout. Alexander, our game master, introduced himself and brought us to our room. He was terrific, from start to finish. You can tell there is a level of care and professionalism that he adopts. Sparing all the details, we broke out with a little over 3 minutes left, and those last 15 were beyond tense as we tried to solve riddles and explore for more answers. Alexander was a phenomenal in game voice from above when needed. We left with a "Breakout high" and great feeling of accomplishment, and it was talked about for the few hours in the car ride home. If you're hesitant about this type of activity, don't be, and just take the jump. It is well worth it and the value back is terrific. read more

Our experience was pleasant for the most part. The escape room was fair, the game master was helpful and accommodating. We didn't make it out since a few of us were new, but we did come close despite that. The only reason to give less than 5 stars was how bizarre the experience with reception was. I couldn't tell if she was doing a bit or something, but she was speaking to us like she was a Disney princess in a very syrupy and high-pitched voice. Disinterested, unwelcoming and generally apathetic on every level. Our game Runaway Train was very difficult and we failed. It's very challenging and a great way to get to know your friends; who leaders vs managers are in a group etc. Tatiana was our gamemaster and she was excellent at explaining what was to be expected. I will start with giving out a shout out to the BreakOut room in Columbus.. Great Job guys...It is an experience. A great team building activity. We did our project team building activity here. At first we all were just doing our own thing but as we got our clues by the end of the game everyone was working together. Very quiet and conveniently located. And you get parking too. The staff was very helpful and involved. So you would wonder why only 3 stars..This is more toward their corporate policy.. You have to sign a waiver. You get a link to the waiver after you have paid for the reservation. Yes you cannot just walk in. This waiver basically exempts you or any of you next of kin for holding the corporate responsible for any negligence from their end. Well to be honest, the risk of something catastrophic happening seems remote because you are locked in a room that is monitored by cameras and what not. I would assume if anything went haywire, they would come rescue but seeking exemption from all of it seems like a bit excessive. So if you have any conditions like Claustrophobia, I would not recommend this place. However if you think you can handle being locked in a room for an hour and solve a puzzle without Breaking Down..You should do this at least once. BTW I feel so proud that we Broke Out before time and needed like only 2 hints. I could see my self going back and try another Break Out activity. read more

My group just did the Mystery Mansion room and had an absolute blast! The difficulty level is high, but we did escape the room with 2 minutes to spare. The design and look of the room is top notch and very well executed. My only minor critique is that the rooms don't feel very ventilated and can get stuffy. The gentleman at the counter said takes a bit to receive maybe by the next day. Still nothing. Emailed and they said to tell them some distinguishing characteristics of the people I described clothing etc another 24 hours goes by call the venue and they said if I didn't get it there is nothing they can do once the next set of patrons goes yours is gone. My boyfriend and I came here with the last reservation spot on a Friday night. We were told by the front desk when we went in that we HAVE to wear a mask in the room when it's just him and I. This is flat out ridiculous. In no other places do we have to wear a mask. The mask mandated has already been lifted. We even had to wear a mask to get a picture. How pathetic. We were told we had to wear a mask because the company could get fined if it as audited. The game we did was not even worth the price. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

Breakout Columbus is SO much fun. I had the pleasure of being in the first official group to try a room and I am super excited to come back. I've done "escape the room" games before, but Breakout Columbus' Museum Heist was so much more difficult, but still totally doable and tons of fun! My group of 8 broke out with 3 minutes to spare (but we were definitely down to the wire!) The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the room we were in was super well done. The "game master" gives you gentle nudges throughout to keep you on track and you have three hints for when you're really stuck. I'm always looking for things to do that isn't just sitting around a bar (don't get me wrong, we do that too) and Breakout Columbus is a great unique way to spend an evening with friends or even as a team building exercise. I took a group of 6 to play the Museum Heist. We had a blast working through the clues to breakout of the room. We got out of the room about 5 seconds past our 60 minute clock. The last three minutes were quite an adrenaline rush as they play very dramatic music while the clock counts down. I won't spoil any of the room but some of the things they did to find codes/keys were very cool and well designed. I look forward to returning and trying a different room. read more
