One area is a little bit better for smaller kids so it's nice that they have two different options. The best part about the splash pad is the reservation system. You must make a reservation online, and you have a 1.5 hour time slot. Splash pads can get packed on a hot day, so this was a great way to control the crowd. Once your time is up there's an enormous playground right next door. There is so much to see and do that you could easily spend hours here without getting bored. Overall this is a fantastic township recreation area. It's clean and well-maintained, and there are endless play options for kids.

The trails are perfect for walking your furry dogs, in-line skating, cycling, easy walking and pushing strollers. There is also a repair station with a tire pump and tools found near the basketball courts. The Challenger Place has finally finished and is a designed playground for kids who are blind or visually impaired. Their sport courts include tennis and basketball courts, as well as an in-line skating rink. The athletic field is available for rental and may be used for baseball games but not for practices. I have heard they have swimming pools but I personally did not see it. Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown.

There were over 75 HS track teams represented from the tri-state area and Pa. As you can imagine it was ORGANIZED CHAOS, with so many athletes competing the officials kept everything running like a well oiled machine from registering the athletes for their respective events to the actual events taking place. So many different events taking place it easy to zoom in on one particular event you may enjoy. I was amazed by my grandson's events but found myself watching the pole vaulting events. These kids flying over the bars with such grace, I know I'm watching some Olympic athletes in the making. All in all the USA won't have to worry about lack of Any Olympic hopeful in the future.

If you are there for a gym membership, it's closed to you Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from December through March. Even when it's open to you, expect a lot of broken machines. No one on staff actually does repairs. Only 1 of the 3 elliptical machines is fully functional. Many of the exercise bikes don't work. Many of the treadmills are very old or don't work. Have heard that the machines were 2nd hand to begin with. Now imagine them with no maintenance. The staff doesn't reinforce proper workout clothes so expect to see many senior citizens in jeans and flannel shirts. Also, only a small fraction of the gym members actually clean off the machines when they are done. Parking is abused. At 6:50am, many spots are already taken up in the parking lot while it's relatively empty inside. Highlights of the parking lot is the random guy who uses its acoustics to play his trumpet.

But no -- the a/c is once again non-functioning and I am told that they are working on a new system. But the front desk is unable to provide a time frame. What?? I can't be the only one complaining. This is a premium-priced gym. While I'm forced to complain here, pls also take note that the bathrooms could be better cared for -- I cut my hand twice on a toilet paper holder that was wobbly for months. The two baths in the treadmill area need to be cleaned throughout the day, or at least more frequently. And some of the equipment goes unfixed for way too long. I am reconsidering my membership.

I was also told that my monthly dues would resume in July. Instead, I have received multiple emails claiming my account is past due and adding late fees. When I asked the employee who signed me up to provide a copy of the agreement or documentation confirming what I was promised, she refused. For over a month, I have repeatedly called and have been told to speak with Shanon. I have left at least five emails and five voicemail messages, yet I have never received a response. When I log into the member portal, I see a balance due with no explanation. I have requested callbacks through the portal and still have not received any response. To make matters worse, every time I go to the pool, I am stopped and told my account has been flagged and that I need to contact the front desk. It is embarrassing and has made both my daughter and me feel unwelcome. We simply wanted to make sure our account was paid correctly and avoid late fees, yet we have been treated as though we are the problem. I eventually had to cancel the debit card I had on file after it was charged for dues that I had already paid in advance. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend not keeping a debit card on file. This entire situation has felt incredibly frustrating and, at times, like a scam. The accounting department has failed to resolve a straightforward issue, and management has been completely unresponsive. I do want to say that I love the pool. The staff there has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional, and the facility is clean. My daughter loves spending time there, and we plan to continue using the pool each summer--but only without a payment card on file because I no longer trust the billing process. Unfortunately, I will not continue my gym membership because I have lost confidence in the accounting department's ability to bill members accurately or resolve problems when they occur. My hope is that someone in leadership reads this, contacts me, explains why this has been handled so poorly, removes the incorrect charges and account flag, and finally resolves my account.

I came from one of UCs where the gym is fabulous so my bar is super high. To be honest, I was…read moreextremely disappointed when I visited. Well later I learned this is the best of all five in New Brunswick campus. The following are the reasons why it's such a disappointment to me: 1. I'm a morning person and prefer to workout first thing of my day, yet gym only opens at 7am which is already not early. On top of it, it changes hour to 8am, or 9am, sometimes to 11am during breaks or summer. sometimes won't open at all. If you're serious about training like me, you must be familiar that consistency is key. Yet the schedules make me think the gym is against morning people. 2. The layout of fitness room is a train wreck to be honest. Machines are way too close to each other. One can be in other people's way even when working out. It's not just inconvenient, it's actually DANGEROUS. Plus, there's only ONE machine for each exercise. The whole fitness room probably has the size of two decent parking garage. Which is WAY too tiny given the number of people on campus. 3. The whole building is POORLY designed. The parking lot is on the opposite side of the building so you get extra walk because of poor design. Another thing is, the building size looks decent yet it has so tiny space for fitness room. 4. The power lifting room is okay. It only has 4 squat racks and 2 deadlifts platforms. Not even 1/3 of my previous gym. But surprisingly, not many people use them anyway so it's good. There's always a space when I go to in the morning. So two stars are for the power gym. 5. The swimming pool looks great but I don't swim that much so the star doesn't include swimming. To summarize, if you use the gym mainly for lifting, you can go and get work done but don't expect too much more. My star might be biased cuz I've seen one of the best. But it's good for those who never have seen better because they won't have as much disappointment as I have.

I'm at Rutgers year round as a graduate student working on Busch Campus. When I have time to work…read moreon my fitness, it's usually at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. This building is kind of strangely built. They have the main door to the gym all the way around the opposite side of the building from the parking lot. This is really annoying when it's rainy or cold or snowy and you have to walk around the needlessly long poorly designed path. The parking lot itself is way too tiny, especially when they open the gym up to high school swim meets and other special events. The way it's designed is also poor, since the positioning of the isles creates a bunch of blind turns. I've seen a few accidents here over the past few years. Once you're inside, they also insist on swiping your RUID badge when you walk in, which can get irritating. They have an Olympic sized pool which looks pretty nice. The general gym weight equipment area is way too small for the number of students/staff that are on this campus. They have rooms for spinning and racquetball as well. There are a bunch of classes you can take at the gym. They are quite cheap for Rutgers staff/students but it's sort of insulting that they aren't put into the tuition in the first place. Most of the classes are enjoyable though. I especially like the spin classes and RUFIT (which is kind of a mixed stations work out class). I just wish they had more classes later in the evening. The gym closes at 9pm and there are larger stretches of the year where it isn't open at all for breaks an things. The scheduling is inconsistent and always changing which can get confusing sometimes.
