We decided to enjoy our Christmas dinner here. $65 per person for a buffet that checked all the boxes. With wine, taxes, and gratuities expect to pay $100 per person. The buffet included all kinds of meat and fish, and covered all tastes and desires. Each dish or cut of meat was superbly prepared and presented. The dessert table was a delight in itself. The ambiance was very pleasant, with families at well set tables all having a great time. Quiet and seasonal music played and the wait staff worked impeccably to ensure our evening was perfect. Stayed at the hotel upstairs over the long weekend. Was able to try this restaurant a few times. I had the eggs Benedict, chicken supreme, and the seared tuna. The eggs Benedict and chicken supreme were easily two of the best things I've ever eaten. I will deffinitely be returning in the near future to enjoy both of these gems! Took my honey out for Valentines and the bill couldn't have come sooner. I know everyone orders wine so that is probably why we were ignored but it is Valentines and we just wanted a good evening. Salty steak, no pepper offered for my steak. No lemon for honeys salmon. Cold salmon, the desert was supposed to have macaroons but they forgot ours. Missing cranberry juice until we ask again. Order Wine to get good service. Even paying was painful. The chase Paymentech was dialing out.... Hey the Amuse Bouche and bread were amazing though. It isn't just us, when I was getting my jacket this other couple was giving the manager a piece of their mind about the staff. Apparently this was their 3rd try. I feel bad for Giselle's experience at this restaurant because I love this place a lot! It is very high-end fine dine restaurant. I have to admit that I only visit this place once a year with my entertainment book coupon at this stage of my life. It does motivate me to be more ambitious in my career every time after dinning there. I've been here one time with my extended family and two times with my boyfriend for our very special days (usually a birthday or anniversary). None of us are vegetarian, so we've ordered rack of lamb, filet mignon, fish etc. All of the dishes taste really good! None of us were disappointed. The last time I was there, we ordered the lobster bisque, and they first placed the soup dish, and then pour the soup out from a silver tea pot in front of you, it was a very British experience, I felt so spoiled. Between your appetizer and main dish, they will bring up sorbet to cleanse your palate before the next course. Finally, they have excellent artisan bread as well. I don't think I have ordered their dessert because I'm usually too full by then. It's best to go on a warmer day so you can take a walk around the area as there are quite a few interesting shops nearby. This restaurant is AMAZING! My husband and I went last night, and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The restaurant was very quiet, not the norm for a Monday night our server told us. But better for us, because our server was very attendant. We were feeling cold as the air conditioning was on full blast, our server told us they were unable to correct the air conditioning as it was controlled by another company and brought us over a small heater from the front desk instead. :) The food was AMAZING, we each had prime rib steak and cesar salad. The chef gives three different types of sauces to put on your steak, as well as gravy for the mashed potatoes. It also comes with a few strands of asparagus and is presented on a square plate. The steak is huge, and with all the extras we were full halfway through. We hope to go back soon. :) read more

Went here on Saturday afternoon, party of 7 including my GF's mother's 70th birthday party. We had not planned on coming to Breakwater but were pleasantly surprised. Staff was very friendly and attentive, the server worked with the kitchen to create a vegan meal for someone in our party. Outdoor patio was very nice and comfortable. I had the gnocchi w/ chicken and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best entrees I've had in a few years. Green salad was great too. We had a 2007 Valpolicella red and it was excellent. The first time we went here it was fantastic and 5 stars. They have a kids menu and the wait staff are excellent. The second time we went for a mothers day dinner but were not informed that it was a set dinner. We did not like half of the food that they were serving but they did make us some Cesar salads instead. The main course tasted excellent but had a very small portion and walked away still hungry. The wait staff were excellent again but we did not like the food choice, the portions were way to Small and we were not informed of the set menu when we booked. We do like the regular menu but would not go back with a set menu in place. read more

Came here for a Sunday brunch, price was $32.95 per person. There was a very small selection of breakfast items with an omelet station and a selection of cakes for dessert. A third of the choices were salads and the rest are your regular breakfast items (sausages, bacon, bread, etc). There were also orange juice and what looks like grape juice. The omelet station allows you to pick ingredients and the omelet is made right away. I only had to wait 10 minutes before being served and it was quite tasty. But other than the omelet, everything else is mediocre. Considering the price, I definitely expected more. As for service, I specifically asked for a window seat as it was my s/o and my anniversary celebration, but we were seated next to the corridor (even though I saw window seats that were empty), almost felt like it was a temporary table. It was most difficult to wave down a waiter and when we finally did, their customer service was below average. Overall, I would not recommend this place. read more

Members of my extended family love this restaurant so I found myself dining here with family in March. I ordered the vegetarian tasting plate, one of two vegetarian entree options (the other was a mushroom risotto), and found it disappointing. The vegetarian tasting plate was a strange assortment of items. A tiny bowl of olives seemed out of place and thoughtless (it's not difficult to open a jar of mixed olives), and the plate was too heavy on fried dumplings (one mushroom-potato bitterball with a mushy centre, and two zucchini dumplings). A small pile of lentils and squash had a nice earthy flavour but the lentils were crunchy (obviously undercooked). Rounding out the tasting plate, a slice of tomato topped with mozzarella and basil was nothing special. While my party enjoyed amuse-bouches, I got nothing after telling the waiter I was vegetarian. And this is despite calling the restaurant the previous night to inquire into vegetarian options and alert them I'd be dining there. For a restaurant boasting all kinds of fine-dining awards, you'd think their kitchen could've assembled a vegetarian amuse-bouche for me. Instead I got persona non grata treatment. This impression was reinforced when I emailed the restaurant to give them polite feedback on the veg tasting plate and received no reply. read more

OVERCOOKED, SOLES-OF-YOUR-SHOE BACON EGG STATION SERVES CHEAP, RUNNY, WHITE EGGS NOT NICE BROWN ONES Guy serving coffee was not happy with his $10 tip on $65 bill. He served us Coffee and Tea. Could not utter the words "Thank you". Salad, salad salad. So many items were missing here NOT worth the $33.00 per. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the photos on their website, not a single item depicted there was available. To top it off the patio right next to the dining room window was covered in cigarette packs and take out litter from the Sat night late crowd partiers in Port Credit. A ruined outfit and Longchamp bag, not to mention electronics, were not what we anticipated when we made our reservation at a CAA 4 Diamond establishment. My 5 bridesmaids and I were excited for our reservation at Breakwater for brunch today, Sunday, May 28, 2017. It was the first time our bridal party was meeting each other and I wanted a special restaurant to suit the occasion! Unfortunately, our server spilled a full flute of orange juice over one of my guests who was wearing a new, white summer dress and sporting a new Longchamp purse. The orange juice stained her entire dress and soaked her purse and its contents, including her iPhone and work laptop. There was no offer of dry cleaning and laundry for her dress. Further, no member of the wait staff inquired about the contents of her purse. Although our server and her supervisor were apologetic, my bridesmaid is now left with a ruined dress, a drenched Longchamp, and a potentially compromised iPhone and laptop. While I appreciate the 10% discount that the server gave me when I settled the bill, I am sure you can appreciate this is hardly satisfactory given the damage to my bridesmaid's outfit and personal effects. Not wanting to make a scene in the middle of your restaurant, I asked to speak with the duty manager after my party left. He did not introduce himself so I cannot give you a name. I explained that we had selected the Breakwater for brunch based on its food quality and service quality. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service we received and the way the situation was handled. I asked specifically what could be done with respect to my bridesmaid's belongings. He comped one brunch and one mimosa, before running to attend the other functions happening at your establishment that morning. He expressed no remorse over, or concern for, the damage caused to my bridesmaid's outfit, purse, phone, or laptop. read more

Negative stars. Terrible service and food. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning. There was only one table other than us and still it took an hour for our food to arrive. We couldn't get a highchair because they said the two they had were reserved and the rest were broken. We were seated on the patio and had to go inside to ask for water after our food arrived and we still hadn't received any. The melon was hard, the eggs Benedict (florentine and smoked salmon) had a drop of watery hollandaise sauce and overall tasted awful, the capers were rock hard, and the portion sizes in general were very very small. There was no manager on site and we were told the only person who could address our concerns (the director) wasn't in until Monday. We ended up sending the food back and going down the street to eat. read more

We have been to this restaurant many times before and this visit was such a disappointment I do not think we will be back especially with all he wonderful dining choices in port credit. Food was still excellent in taste quality and presentation. Problem was the service was TERRIBLE. We were ignored most of the meal and actually asked to move tables as someone more important asked to be at the table we were at. No one inquired as to if we had any issues. Our water and wine were never refilled by the waiter and requests made for extra sauce, coffee and a dessert menu were not given. This was my birthday dinner and we chose this restaurant because of he service we had always received in the past. Something has changed and I do not think I want to reward that change with another visit. Curdos to the kitchen staff though as the meal was delicious. I wish I could have had the dessert! read more

This is fine dining indeed. Food, service and atmosphere are second to none in Mississauga. Foods are always so delicious and so far I have no complaints what the kitchen has put out. I seriously recommend anything on the menu, but especially seafood, chateaubriand and platter for 2 are amazing. read more

Price Range (per person): $61-$100 Visit Again?: No Party Size: 4 Party of 4 and 3 out of 4 steaks were horrible. No taste, underseasoned and over cooked. My husband's steak was so chewy that is was obviously an inferior cut of striploin and/or previously frozen. When I sent mine back, the new one didn't arrive until everyone else at the table had finished eating- no apologies but rather the opposite. When the 2nd steak was equally tasteless, the waiter (who I just looked online and found out was the sommelier) Paul Borys, proceeded to insult me- apparently the problem was not with the steak, but rather with my palate! The first bill arrived with my steak still in the tab, even though it was supposed to be removed- this was not a favour- I did not end up eating dinner that night! Our bill was in the approx $400. Spending this money should be an enjoyable experience. According to the web...Paul Borys is 32 years of age being "20 in 2000" and arrogant POS doesn't begin to explain his behavior. He needs to go back to school , what a rude uncultured kid , needs to go back to International Sommelier Guild and learn serving PEOPLE NOT serving wine. Wake up Paul its people who pay for $60.00 / bottle of Champagne. You are obviously a punk kid who has never paid for a meal that costs as much as The Breakwater Dining costs. The facts: We are reasonable people, have traveled the world and enjoyed world wide fine dining, I am a Gourmet Chef and I understand kitchens can have a bad night- however, the front of the house needs to be able to salvage a diner's experience, not attack and insult. This kid is a jerk. and should be tuned in by the executive chef Adrian Rusyn, who after only 1 year under his belt as the Executive Chef for this once prestigious restaurant better get hold of the reins, don't let a kid ruin your reputation. The dining room was virtually empty and I would not doubt that sales are down and business is suffering. Adrian staff maybe your issue, front of the house and the kitchen on weekends. The facts are that Adrian Rusyn is still enjoying the reputation and the glory of the former Breakwater Restaurant's Canada-born, Holland-raised executive chef, Dirk Noort, but it is obvious that the glory days left with Dirk. In the last year under the new executive chef... this restaurant is going down hill We have been a client for 8 years and under the previous Executive Chef it was a definite 3.5 star rating as Toronto Life stated . And the former distinction of being the only restaurant in Mississauga awarded the prestigious CAA/AAA Four Diamond status is being sullied by people like Paul Borys and the weekend "B" Team that's in the kitchen. Save your $400.00 go elsewhere. The lack of quality food preparation and the way we were treated Sunday August 12 2012 is very sad. We will take our business elsewhere. Next time run to a Keg's if you want good and consistent steak- even they do better than this so called 4 star restaurant. Paul Borys you may have a knowledge of wine - but you do not know people and belong in the Breakwater Dining Restaurant . Perhaps a course in manners would be helpful. You are a current liability. Just had their Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. Started with delicious Mimosas and it only got better from there. Nice selection of food on their Brunch Menu. From Waffles to a Omlette Bar, to assorted cheeses, coldcuts, Roastbeef cut to your liking, various vegetable and vegan dishes as well. Assorted buns, rolls, breads, flatbreads, pitas, and croissants. Anything you want, they have. The service was exemplary, and whenever we finished our meal, they cleaned the table right away. Very attentive, always asking if we want tea, coffee, juice or another drink. Desserts were lovely as well. Great view of the harbour! Can't say enough about this place and how well it is run. Run, don't walk there. It will be worth the burned calories! Loved it!! read more

Well, there is good and not so good in this establishment. Arrived about 5 minutes late for our reservation, but no tables available - had to wait in the lounge approx. 10-15 minutes. Staff were friendly - I give them that and they were also apologetic for keeping us waiting. The wine list is extensive - although most are rather expensive - would have been nice if some descriptions of the wines were there. The warm bread and side for the bread was nice. This is the not so good part for me - the oysters I ordered were probably the smallest I've ever seen - and for market price, was definitely not worth it. The side dip offered with the oysters had no flavour. My husband's crab cakes he indicated was quite good although he said he had better steak elsewhere. My entree was pretty good - lobster thermidor - small in size and okay in taste - not the worse I've had and not the best either. Overall - i'm torn b/w a two-star because they promote themselves as high end (so misleading - reduce to 2), but for the service and some (not all) of the food, I would put my rating at 3. I cannot put a 2.5 star here so will give them the benefit of posting a 3 start. read more

We like the outdoor patio, it would be nice if it was a bit larger but it works. The food is great but some things are a little pricey for what you get. We have been there many times for romantic dinners, birthdays and special events. The interior could use a little updating, my husband's chair had a bad leg and he wobbled on it before they changed the chair... But they did get him a new chair and I think they were embarrassed. Overall, a great choice in the Port Credit area for good food and excellent service. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day. Service was horrible. The restaurant wasn't busy yet it took 40 min for them to take our order, the waitress wouldn't give us the wine list as they didn't have enough wine books to go around so she told us her only recommendation (didn't bother asking what kind of wine we enjoyed), and the food was low quality for $89/person. We wanted to order off the regular menu and were told we couldn't. We told the manager that we were unhappy with the service, he nor our waitress gave an apology. The couple beside us also complained, and got no apology. It was very disappointing. read more

My finance and parents decided to dine here because we're thinking of holding our wedding reception in the Waterside Inn (the hotel in which Breakwater is situated). My family and I have eaten here before, and the food had always been incredible. I have to say, though, I was a bit put off by my most recent visit. We ordered from the prix fixe menu, and the varieties sounded delicious. My mother and I ordered the same salad, and to our dismay, both of our salads arrived with no dressing. After the waiter suggested that it was "lightly dressed" (it wasn't), he brought out some dressing for us. For our entree, three of the four of us ordered the scallops. The flavours were good, however the cleaning of the scallops was careless; all three of us experienced a gritty texture in our food (perhaps sand). The dessert, on the other hand, was very tasty. I don't want to jump to conclusions, however we never had these kinds of disappointments at the Breakwater with the previous executive chef. I worry that the new executive chef (who was the previous sous chef) may not have the same attention to detail and quality control. read more
