Shared the following for a party of 3: Fish and chips 2 piece order plus we ordered another piece of fish so we had one each. Solid as usual. Portion of fish seems thinner than before though. Calamari. - large portion as well. The breading detached from the squid too easily though. Pastrami sandwich. Nice portion. Except another table got an even bigger one with different bread. Not sure if it was a different order but he had 30% more meat. Be sure to ask for the hot mustard. Don't use the French's mustard on the table. I know it happens but we had hair in our calamari and one of our tartar sauces and sent both back. They replaced both but need to get their hygiene under control back there. read more

Old establishment with a strong following. I've come to this restaurant since I was a child. Food portions are large, quality is ok, service is friendly. Overall I still come back but acknowledge that it wasn't what it used to be. I had the halibut fish and chips. Fish is thinner than before. Calamari is still good but the breading falls off. Pastrami sandwich is pretty consistent. Found a hair in my tar tar sauce and another hair in the calamari. Ambience is casual old school but it works for its style. read more

On our visit, we ordered the "Chicken on Brochette" and the "Salmon Steak", and both were delicious. The chicken was well marinated and tender, the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the portions felt just right. Overall, the food quality and the relaxed atmosphere make it a nice place for a casual dinner. That said, the customer service was disappointing. They don't allow simple modifications to meals, even for dietary needs like avoiding gluten, and they weren't very friendly about it either. At one point, we asked if the blinds could be lowered because the sunlight was directly in our eyes, but they were opened again without asking us, and the response felt dismissive. Always a hit for family dinners or dining solo. Someone greeting you at the door and staff on top of their service at all times. No other spot in the city with this decor. Made a last minute reservation for our group of 8 and they were able to accommodate us at around 6 pm. The first thing that I noticed was the cool interior from the stained glass lights to the colorful walls and vintage fixtures around. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu and we had to try their famous deli meat sandwiches where you can get a combo which comes with coleslaw or fries or get the sandwich by itself. Smoked Meat Sandwich - Decided to get the combo for this sandwich and the portion was large. The fries were a classic steak fry that were fresh and not too dense. The sandwich itself was filled to the brim with the smoked meat that was soft and had a light salty flavor. Corned Beef Sandwich - Got this one by itself and was my favorite out of the three meat options. It was a little spicy and had a richer flavor with the same soft texture. I tried a little of the pastrami as well but it didn't have too distinct a difference from the other two meat options. While the portions were big and the meat was fresh, the sandwiches didn't have too much flavor and were solely deli meat so I'd want to try some other menu items next time. read more

I am always completely stuffed and happily so, after a corned beef or Montreal smoked meat sandwich... piled high, with mustard, or hot mustard available by request, the yummy crunchy pickle, coleslaw and fries.... Did a pick up lunch order, fish and chips dinner comes with 2 large pieces of halibut, home made coleslaw and tons of fries. The Ruben is the one you have to try freshly sliced toasted bread with sauerkraut cheese, and it was heavenly. Called in the order they were done in 10 minutes. Girl to go was very pleasant and nice when you walk inside they have a separate pick up area. I was sad about my fries though I got a lot of like small stubs/ends that were crispy/hard...I must have gotten the bottom end/batch because none of the photos of others looked like mines. Their takeout food kept us sane during the pandemic, and we have been there both before and after those awful times and it is consistently delicious, plentiful and comforting. Usually choose from a few rotating favourites and the portions are huge with plenty to share; Greek salad, calamari, fish and chips, clubhouse and souvlaki dinner. They neither offer chicken nor beef souvlaki but ought to given the demographics. Bread is provided for the table and some meals come with soup of the day too. There was a time when you got charged for sharing plates, whether eating a little or a lot. It was such a ridiculous concept! Not sure if that practice is still in effect.. When I'm craving fish, especifically calamari, it's my preferred place to go. Well, during the pandemic, my takeout experience was an utter disappointment. The quantity received was a fraction of what is normally served when dining in and the food, (calamari) was super soggy and sitting in excess oil in its takeout container. That diminished my desire to eat. I wasn't impressed at all considering the amount paid. Generally their food is good so this was a fail. After writing this review, went there for seafood and it was delicious. Portions are still the same. No other patrons were present initially, then three more couples arrived. Things I observed; a patio has been created, though we sat indoors due to the high humidity. Shared a rich and filling cream of chicken and asparagus soup before our main meals arrived. If you want enough food for two meals, this is the place. I came here for lunch with work colleagues and they were happy to accommodate our group of 10. The servers were hilarious with the one-liners but also very helpful with recommendations from the menu. I got the Reuben. It was excellent and the portion was enormous. I literally got two full meals out of it. The fries were good too but the sandwich was the star. I haven't tried anything else from the menu but everyone else I went with had very positive things to say. The menu is extensive and there's something that will appeal to everyone. My teammates and I came here to celebrate winning a softball tournament nearby. Someone shared a pic of the smoked meat sandwich, so I knew I had to try. The sandwich was delicious, and the portion size was very generous. The meat in the sandwich was delicious and moist. The fries where perfectly crispy and the coleslaw helped cut through the richness. My only possible gripe was the the mustard was served on the side instead of in the sandwich, but it was a minor inconvenience. For $20, I was very happy. Bacon was cooked till it resembled jerky, eggs tasted like they were hurried and fried in oil. I sent the bacon back and it came back the same way. from the min you walk in you do not get greated properly , I had to ask them if I have to seat my self or be seated knowing both of the staff were right by the door having some personal conversations with other costumers , not a great start. then I was seated , I asked to get a different table , and the big guy who was the hostess gave another small table. Walking in we were greeted and seated right away by a smiling waitress. This place is so quaint like a childhood memory and I just love the ambiance. We ordered the Large Pork souvlaki and a tomato soup. It was a yummy Soup to start with and the Pork Souvlaki Dinner was just mouth watering. The pork was so juicy and tender it just melts in your Mouth. The salad included in it was so delightful and fresh! The potato and rice were cooked just right ! Overall a wonderful meal! This place is an institution in Mississauga and has been in business for a long time. They are known for their great food and their "generous" portions. There's plenty of parking in front and at the side of the restaurant. I guess location wise, it is in the border between Mississauga and Etobicoke. The decor is a bit dated but I wasn't troubled by that. I came for the food. We came for a late lunch on a Sunday and the place was not busy. We had an amazing waitress and she did warn us ahead of our order that the portions size were huge and we could actually share a dish between two people. We decided to order one large dish for each of us. My wife and I went for the Pork Souvlaki while my daughter went for the Veal Parmigiana. The waitress was not exaggerating in regards to the portions. It was huge. They only have Pork for their souvlaki. No chicken. Also the serving size of the side dishes (potatoes, salads) along with the rolls were too much for us. My daughter on the other hand ended up finishing her dish. We all felt that the parmigiana was the better dish as the Pork was a bit dry. That's just a minor complaint. In terms of prizes, you pay for what you get as its not cheap but you get the amount. Great value and excellent service. The portions here are huge, but quality is not sacrificed. This is wholesome fare and service is relaxed and informal although professional at all times. The restaurant is popular and has a regular clientele. The menu is wide ranging and caters for all tastes although I cannot vouch for the availability of specialist dietary needs. Plenty of parking is available locally and access for mobility impaired people is easy, with large washrooms and enough space. This isn't a fancy or overly intimate restaurant, it has a family friendly feel and very good food and service at a reasonable price. read more
