I have used them for the past 5 years, they started amazingly well, no shady business. But once Kevin left the boatyard my experience working with them started deteriating. I kept bringing my boat back because i liked the admin mainly and one of their technican, but at somepoint decided that workinging with this boatyard is no longer for me. Do not buy parts through their eBay sales unless you are a knowledgeable marine mechanic. Parts descriptions are not detailed enough and pictures do not give good reference for scale of parts. They reached back out and allowed a refund. Thank you. read more

Breakwater Marina has really been great to me and my family. They bent over backwards to help us. We need some things fixed and they were all helpful, Kevin especially! But Becky and Mike as well. And if your there on a Saturday Crissy is the best! Always giving helpful suggestions of things to do or see in the area. This Marina is the best in Tacoma and possibly Washington too! The staff is very friendly and the dock is in good condition. The main issue is all the junk stacked up throughout all the docks. It is piled high some between buildings but also out in the open. We did not attempt the shower as the condition was iffy. Restroom are okay but not the best. Now to be fair their rates are cheaper than most marinas for guest moorage. The locked gate system great. It is also within walking distance of old Tacoma. Great sports bar there called Coles. Compared to all the other marina we visit in Puget Sound and BC this one ranks pretty low for a weekend visit. While they do great mechanical work, Kevin the Service Manager, is very unprofessional. Had work done on my boat, went to pick it up and found out the mechanics had broken 2 items. When I went to talk to Kevin about it, he got an attitude and started to give out excuses. He finally came aboard and looked and the damages and said if it happened while we had it, we will fix it. Kevin said let me make some calls to order them and I will call you. It has now been 4 weeks with several calls and text messages to him and I still have not heard a reply from him. Very unprofessional, does not inform customer if they go over the estimate, does not respect customer property, someone even used the head and didn't't flush! I will not take my boat there again and I will not recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Breakwater Marina has an excellent service center. Kevin, Alan and Dan are top notch, highly experienced technicians and trouble-shooters for any sort of work or upgrade that you need for your boat. We had them do extensive modifications and upgrades to our electrical and charging system and were very pleased with the job. It was neatly done, and done to code. So, as I am pulling into the slip I reserved for the evening at breakwater marina, my port engine transmission went out. As I'm paying for my mortgage I inquire as to service and get the service manager kevin Hornbeck on the phone at 4:45 p.m. he proceeds to help me the next day t 7 am...diagnose the problem gets parts delivered helps when he can all with no notice. Very knowledgeable crew very accommodating although extremely busy made room for me somehow. Highly recommend getting boat service and/or work done at breakwater marina. Fair, accommodating and friendly. Becky who runs the front office is also very nice and accommodating. Wonderful experience overall. read more

Kevin and his team of mechanics did an excellent job installing a new head and propane system on our 39' sailboat. We weren't sure what to expect as we've never had any major work done on her before, but they absolutely went above and beyond for us. I hardly ever write Yelp reviews but these guys really earned it--they were very honest, kind, and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend them for any work you need done on your boat. The marina itself isn't super clean or nice looking, but the staff is some of the best you'll find and they're good at what they do. We'll definitely be coming back to them for any future work!
