The biggest issue was the parking and entry process. It felt very unorganized. It didn't seem like the VIP parking signs were set up before the crowd started arriving, so people parked wherever they could, only to be told they had to move. Then, instead of letting everyone wait under the covered walkway, they kept directing people back into lines in the hot sun. Between the purse checks, security pat-downs, and confusion about where everyone was supposed to be, getting inside took longer than it should have. It honestly felt like the staff hadn't had a pre-event meeting and were trying to figure everything out as they went. They really need to improve that process because it put a damper on the start of the evening. Thankfully, once we made it inside, everything got much better. Our waitress, Indiana, was attentive and did a great job, especially considering how busy it was. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrées all at once to stay ahead of the crowd, and the food came out fresh and delicious. I ordered the catfish plate with fries and collard greens, and everything was cooked perfectly. I also tried the cobbler egg rolls for the first time, and wow...they were absolutely amazing! They were so good I had two and had to stop myself from ordering more. I'll definitely be getting those again. Despite the rough start, the food and service made up for it. This place consistently delivers great food, and even with a packed house, the table service remained solid. If they can get the parking and entry process organized, the overall experience would be excellent.

The only thing I had wrong with the day is food. When seated, it was the napkin fold and immediate water filling that made the service even better. Now on to the food: Everything we ordered: Salmon nigiri: decent fish, bad rice Tuna nigiri: good fish, bad rice Hamachi nigiri: great fish, bad rice I don't know if we got a bad batch of rice, but it was undercooked and fell apart while eating it. The fish was all good, but nigiri is about the rice too. Hamachi sashimi in brown butter: this was definitely the most flavorful and delicious dish. But for the portion it was very expensive. Mushroom udon: slightly salty, but full of a lot of flavor and a great dish to "fill you up". Chicken thigh skewer: for dark meat chicken it was over cooked and dry. The flavor was delicious and wish they could include a dipping sauce. Pork belly skewer:the fatty bites were delicious, but the meat was veryyyy chewy. Drinks were well made.

Updating my review from 4 years ago. We've been maybe a handful of times since…read more Our visit last night though was decent. They don't take reservations, and I even called to inform them we had a party of 9 and they said it didn't matter. Okay... we get there and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. If we had been able to make a reservation, that wouldn't have happened. The employees were all nice though. Our main waiter and the waitress helping him were attentive and got what we needed. One thing that really disappointed me was that they were out of brisket (told us after we placed our orders) and half our orders had brisket. We had family from the west coast here and the whole point of going to Memphis BBQ was for them to enjoy southern BBQ and I feel they didn't get the whole experience. Another thing, our waiter specifically said he put the 3 kids meals on one order so they would come out first... guess which ones came out last out of all 9 of us? Yeah, the kids. And the food was piping hot for them so they barely ate anything by the time we were all done with our meals. Which our meals were actually good. Except the water. Has an awful chlorine taste to it. Lastly, weren't we supposed to get complimentary pork rinds? I completely forgot about that until after we left or I would have asked for them. It wasn't a horrible experience, but we've definitely had better and we'll probably be back sometime.

I think I would have given them a 3.5 stars if you could give half stars. Monday-Friday they have a lunch buffet for adults from 11 am-3:30 pm for $14.70! We immediately got a seat and were able to get our food no problem! The restaurant was very busy and people really seemed to be enjoying coming. They do have a "wall of shame" when you first come in with people that have left the restaurant without paying for their food. I have never seen this before and find it interesting they screenshot their security cameras and print off photos of people to put on the wall! I hate they have had so many people leave without paying...just wanted to mention it since it was a shock to me the first time! The restrooms are very dark and not super clean. The restaurant is described as Latin/Mexican, though we noticed the kitchen staff didn't appear to be Latin or Hispanic, which stood out to us. One thing that surprised us was that chips and salsa are not complimentary. The menu itself is huge--burgers, quesadillas, bowls, fried fish, wings, and more--so it felt more like a mix of different cuisines than a traditional Mexican spot. We did order the chips and salsa, and honestly, that ended up being the best thing we had. For our entrées, I ordered the fried fish and my husband got the BBQ shrimp quesadilla. His quesadilla was extremely runny and messy, and the only flavor that really came through was the BBQ sauce it was heavily covered in. My fried fish portion was generous, but the flavor was just okay. I ended up eating only about two pieces. I also tried the blood orange margarita, which was decent but tasted like it barely had any alcohol in it. Overall, the service was pleasant, but the food and drinks didn't impress us enough to make us want to return.
