She arrived at the hotel on time with her supplies and got to work, with ideas for each person hair/makeup wise. My mom is super picky (hairstylist herself) but loved the makeup especially, and turned out stunning in pictures! The bride got so many compliments on her hair and makeup, it was confirmed that Heidi did a beautiful job. It took about 4 hours for the 3 of us, perfectly timed. I recently got married on 8/7/16 at Kualoa Ranch, it was a destination wedding. Breathe Hawaii was referred to me by my wedding coordinator. I hired them because they provided exclusive rates (with my wedding coordinator) and I was pleased with their work online. Heidi and I only communicated via email. She doesn't respond quick, sometimes I won't hear back from her for over a week. And sometimes, I would have to follow up with her. This is why I docked off a star due to lack of response. However, her work speaks for itself. Heidi and her team did a great job on our hair and makeup. She brought in a team to help her. She concentrated mostly on me because I was the bride. She was nice and kept me calm. Her entire team was nice too and friendly. I showed Heidi sample pictures of how I wanted our hair to look. They did a great job on incorporating the fresh flowers into our hair. The makeup seemed alot at first but throughout the day it started to look more natural. I cannot attest to how their make up or hair is because I could never get an appointment made. I booked back in October for my wedding in August of this year. I paid my deposit and due to covid everything has been up in the air. I emailed the owner in May to inquire that if I had to reschedule my wedding if my deposit would hold. I never heard back from her so after a month I emailed again stating that I called AND left a voicemail and haven't heard from her and if she could contact me at her earliest convenience. She finally responded 2 days later stating that she did respond on May 26. I don't know why I never got that email. Ok I'll let it slide sometimes that happens. I respond the same day letting her know I have cancelled the big wedding however I would still like to utilize her services since I will still get married that day and if we can go ahead and schedule for the hair and make up trial. AGAIN. She didn't respond and I follow up 2 weeks later, she finally emails me back asking for dates and times that I'm available to schedule, so I send the email back advising of when. This was July 6, close to one month prior to me getting married. I email again on 7/12 asking if my emails are even going through to her and that I responded with dates and if it's easier for her to contact me via text message she can and provided my number. I also advised that on the day of the wedding it will be three people getting hair and make up done. She had responded that she doesn't know what's going on with her email and that she will call me the following day. The next day I never received a call from her that was on a Monday. I called her on Thursday and left a voicemail for her to return my call and I left an email stating that I had no missed calls on my end. My last email to her was on 7/20 letting her know that I was anxious to schedule the trial as my wedding date is on 8/8 and getting closer. At this point I'm so fed up that even if she wanted to work with me I would decline. Who runs a business like this?? Would she even show up to do the hair and make up?! Rachel Handen is the best! We started planning our wedding late, we were getting married in July and it was already the end of January. She was able to help us organize what we did have and knew exactly what we were missing with our wedding plans. On the day of our wedding I had nothing to worry about. She took care of every little detail making sure everything was kept on schedule. From making sure our cake was delivered on time, making sure everyone got their hair and makeup done, to even making sure she knew where my husband and I were all the times so that we wouldn't cross paths so we wouldn't see each other before the ceremony. Breathe Hawaii was recommended to me, by my wedding planner, for our wedding that was to take place on July 16, 2016. In March 2016, I went in for a trial session. When I met her at her salon, she was welcoming and kind. Throughout the session, she really took her time ensuring she would capture look I wanted for our wedding. After the reveal, I loved what she did! My trial was early that morning and my hair and makeup lasted the entire day. I was excited and looked forward to having Heidi and her team on our wedding day. On the day of our wedding, Heidi and her team of 3 arrived and were all 1 hour and 30 minutes late. Upon arrival, they were a bit rude, walking throughout the hotel room trying to figure out where to set up shop, not even saying a proper hello to me and my bridal party. They did not apologize to me or gave me a reason for being so late. Our photographers, who came on time, were already taking photos in the room. They forced them to move and ended up taking photographs in a different room without discussing on how to work together as a team. Me and my bridal party already had music playing in the room, and they turned it off and put their own music without our consent. However, the biggest thing that offended me was that they brought an infant which took one of the stylists away from doing her job. The girls in my bridal party were kind enough to help watch the infant, which they didn't have to do at all. A member of Heidi's team was extremely rude, giving me stink looks throughout the day. Another member of the team seemed like she was still a stylist in training, and was corrected many times by Heidi. I was extremely shocked with their unprofessionalism. Because Heidi and her team arrived so late, our wedding ceremony and reception was pushed back 1 whole hour! In my mind, I was so frantically worried while I was getting my hair and makeup done that my groom though I may have stood him up and left him waiting at the altar. I had to call my wedding planner down stairs to assure my groom to not worry and that we are running behind. My husband and I didn't have enough time to take the photos we wanted together, I didn't have enough time to be photographed with my friends and family after the ceremony, and also, we didn't have time to dance at the end of our reception. My hair and makeup was done last, after my bridal party. By the time it was my turn, we were already running late for the ceremony. I felt like there should have been more time spent on me. I was extremely worried the whole time, but felt that I had keep calm and collected before the ceremony. Despite the rush, I thought Heidi did a great job still making me look glamorous for our wedding day. They did a great job with my bridal party as well. For that, I am extremely thankful to Heidi and her team. However, I just want Breathe Hawaii and everyone know who are considering them to really consider my comments about my experiences with them. My daughter was scheduled for prom makeup/hair. At the very last minute, she had to cancel. Knowing that there were already 2 professional artists lined up to do her hair/makeup, I was expecting a cancellation fee. To my surprise, the owner, Heidi Fowler, personally replied. She had absolutely no concern towards her loss of business, but instead, focused on my daughter's disappointment. Please do not let her low prices influence you into thinking that your are getting second class service. Heidi's team consists of professional artists, cosmetologists & estheticians with background from high fashion, editorial, MAC product specialists and more. I learned that Heidi has not raised her prices for 7 years. Perhaps what impressed me the most, was her reply when I had to cancel the appointment. I would definitely recommend Breathe Hawaii for your hair and makeup. The owner Heidi Fowler contacted me and we discussed what I was looking for. She made hair suggestions based on where I was having the wedding and also let me know the beach I was getting married on was extremely windy. We agreed on a meeting time at my hotel (for a fee, well worth it), She even offered to help me get dressed, which is great for a destination wedding if you do not have anyone with you to help! She also made sure I was okay with her bringing an assistant to work on my hair while she did my make-up. The morning of the wedding, Heidi text me when she was on her way and arrived on time. Both her and her assistant were very sweet and professional. They instantly made me feel comfortable and were so personable.
