This is a prime example of what happens when a company has a monopoly! Rates are very high and service is awful. The equipment is totally unreliable and what makes that even more infuriating is it is impossible to talk to customer service. I have waited over 40 minutes on hold before giving up and unfortunately that is the norm. Phone and internet went out last week and a call with a 1 hour+ hold resulted in no contact. They use sub-contractors for their service work so they can maximize their profit. The techs. work hard but clearly are not treated as employees. I have to emphasize "IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTACT THESE PEOPLE". Once I foolishly thought it might be a good idea to use their cable service for TV instead of Direct TV. Been trying all day to connect to the internet. WiFi works. Tried many avenues to fix. None worked.

Unreliable service and unresponsive customer care. When service goes out you may not be able to get through to their tech support. Then you'll have to wait nearly a week if a tech needs to come to your home. Worst than that if they come to your home to fix things and fail, you'll have to wait another week. If only we had an alternative. My internet has been intermittent for all of 2012 thus far. (One star is one too many.) read more

AtlanticBB is a third rate carrier. As is generally known most cable companies are monopolies. AtlanticBB services rural and distant suburban areas and they do not have the skill or infrastructure to provide reliable consistent service. They are a monopoly in most of their service area but do have competitors such as DSL with the regional landline phone company and satellite based systems. You will pay a high price but not get the kind of experience the "big boys" in the industry provide in the more urban area. Sorry for all of us that are stuck with them. read more

Adam came out and did a super job installing the internet. He was knowledgeable and nice, and the system was up and running right away The only thing I would say is you have to keep resetting the router or it slows down a lot. It is not as fast as i thought it would be but is much better than other services in the area. read more

Absolutely the worst service provider. My internet is out for than it's on. I pay $95 a month for internet ONLY. Don't bother trying to call customer service unless you have at least 2 hours to sit on hold. Don't bother emailing in or filling out their outage form. They just send you the same generic email telling you to turn your modem off and back on. Sadly they are the only provider in my area. read more

This company has poor customer service and relatively high rates for broadband and video service. Amazingly they charge for service calls to downgrade service (eliminating video and going OTT in our case) arguing that they can't just flip a switch at the headend. Then literally in the next month they increased prices indicating that they were investing in new plant. Well apparently not new plant to avoid the need to send out a truck to disconnect service that they then charge the customer for. And getting a billing issue resolved. Took 5 phone calls and a lot of time on hold. They may want to be better than the average cable company but in fact they are worse and expensive also. read more

Have sent four emails inquiring about changing my package deal to internet only so I can change tv to streaming and phone to Vonage. There is no chat help, there is no place on customer website to update or modify services other than to upgrade. Price just went up another $8 a month to support ESPN which I neither watch or want. Now spending $259 a month for cable, internet and phone. Absolutely ridiculous. I want email response so I have something in writing. read more

Absolute worst customer service of all times. Avoid this company if at all possible. On hold 2 hours and still no customer service. Every time I have to call these people it's the same thing. Also new customers pay one fifth the amount of long term customers. Why? Makes no sense. Once they have you as a customer that's it. Prices go up and customer service is non existent. Outages are routine. Had to talk my mother-in-law who was baby sitting through the reboot procedure of unplugging the power, then the coax, then reconnecting during a Valentines getaway with my wife. The worst internet service ever and expensive. Terrible customer service. They plan maintenance (where phones, tv, internet will be out all day) and don't notify customers. When we first moved in they ran a line from our house to the box and didn't bury the wire!! Think the guy kicked leaves over it instead. Another review! I truly wish there was another company I could use besides Atlantic broadband unfortunately like most of you who have also complained over and over again we have no other choice. I am sick and tired of calling I'm sick and tired of the same ongoing problems they never go away. What is it going to take? My favorite, technicians leaving me their direct number or direct line to their supervisor and when you call you don't get a call back why do you leave me your number just more BS.? I have been using cable, Internet, and telecom services since forever. And I have never experienced such poor service as Atlantic Broadband. The only other organization that will make you wait this long on the phone to speak with a customer service representative is the IRS. Whenever you have a problem--and you can expect constant problems--you will have to wait approximately 45 minutes on hold--sometimes longer--with this horrible muzak looping over and over and over again. I had to call their technicians SO many times--hence, I heard that music SO many times, that I will probably be sick if I ever hear it again. I had their phone/Internet/cable TV bundle for a little more than a year. The last month, when my cable TV was not working for the umpteenth time, I did not even bother to call them to see if they could fix it, since I did not have it in me to wait on the phone for 45 minutes and then spend another 30 minutes trying to reset everything. To their credit--almost all of their customer service technicians are very nice and most of them SEEM to be fairly knowledgeable. I say "seem to be" because my problems were never fixed for long. Always within a week to a month, the same, or another problem would occur, making it impossible to watch TV. The phone worked OK--but it seems that the signal was not as clear as it should have been. The Internet connection generally worked but was often slow, and sometimes it would just stop working and I had to reboot my laptop to make it work again. The Internet connection alone is reason enough not to use this company, but my cable TV just never worked for long. As for house calls, one technician just could not fix it. The next technician did not bring the proper equipment, so he had to come back on another day. Yet another time the technician fixed it, but a day or two later it was broken again. Today, before writing this review, after disconnecting my service, I decided to give them the chance to make it right. Who knows--maybe my experience was much worse than usual. (If not, I cannot imagine how they could still be in business.) So, I spoke to a very nice lady who offered me one month free service after I return my equipment. Then she agreed that I should talk to a supervisor to see if they could do a little better than that--since my service was basically on the fritz, on and off, for an entire year. You see, they never once offered to reimburse me for any of the time I was unable to watch TV, let alone for all the headaches and the time spent calling their technicians and being talked through the various fixes. (Not to mention four separate house calls.) It took 19 minutes for a supervisor named Dan, in the Johnstown, PA, office to pick up. (If I recall correctly, his ID # is 0833.) I spoke to him today, 12/1/2016, at about 5 pm and we spent over 20 minutes on the call. Dan was curt with me from the start. He actually tried to make me feel bad for the few times I did not call them immediately when the cable wasn't working--basically blaming me for not having cable service. If it was 11 at night and I was tired and had to get up early the next day, I could not spend 1.5 hours on the phone trying to fix yet another cable TV problem, which might not even be fixable by phone. Usually I tried to call the day I noticed the problem, but often I was just too busy to spend hours trying to get it fixed, and, waiting on the phone for 45 minutes or an hour to go through it all yet again, was getting really old. Dan did not apologize for the fact that I spent SO many hours on the phone with AB, or for the fact that I had such deficient service for over one year. He actually said there were no records of my having called them! I said, "If you have records of three service calls then how do you think those happened if I never called?" And I said, "If you have no records of my calling again and again, then you have yet another serious problem!" Later, he said that if I called and they fixed the problem over the phone I should not be reimbursed for that. I said, "I agree! If it happens once or twice. But for more than a year I had continual problems that were never resolved. Is it right to charge me full price for something that never worked properly, that wasted hours and hours of my time, that was often unusable?" He acted like somehow it was all my fault and I was wasting HIS time! I was actually in tears when I hung up. But before I did, I told him that this was no way to run a company and that he had no business being in customer service. (Clearly Dan does not care about customers or service.) Don't waste your time giving them the chance to do the right thing. Just avoid this company! When you combine terrible technical service with the unbearable wait times on the phone (with that music looping over and over making you insane) . . . not to mention the beaucoup nasty supervisors--you have a business that has no business being in business. read more

Sadly the only cable company in my area... After complaining for months and months and being charged twice at $40 each time they came out, I was told there is nothing wrong with my internet service... unable to use any multimedia based devices in my house is "nothing wrong" I even rewired the house at my cost still and they still would not fix any issues with their network. Thankfully I have friends that work at another semi local ISP, speaking the them about my issue informed me that Atlantic Broadband standard issue modem (Motorola 5120) is the issue and is not even used by the Major ISP Companies anymore. As soon as I replaced their modem I finally have a service that "works"... thou it is still very slow compared to other ISP in the area. There must be something done with this company... the issues are not just with in this area they have problems NATION WIDE, Google it!!! As soon as another ISP is in my area I will be canceling as fast I get get though the normal 20 min wait time... read more

Cannot echo other posters' comments enough about horrific customer service. Internet was working fine, then poof! Gone. My husband and I each called (on separate phones) and were on hold for more than 30 and 45 min each. I also tried to chat online (using our phone's data plan). Bottom line -- all that time wasted! Since we were previously Metrocast customers, we needed to call another number! The phone agent transferred us, but after awhile, we mysteriously got cut off! Simultaneously, the chat agent tried to connect us to another agent (they couldn't help us either because we were previously Metrocast). While we waited yet again, the session timed out. So, we called the "other number." Another more than 30 min later, we FINALLY got connected with someone who would help us. But then we were told we needed a service call--the only help they offered was to unplug the modem and plug it back in, which (duh) we tried multiple times before calling them. Unlike other companies who can reboot your system remotely, they need to send a technician. So, no Wi-Fi/internet until someone comes out to check the system. One last thought--why are we paying bills to Atlantic Broadband if their customer service reps can't help when you call. Nowhere on the website does it offer a different support service for prior Metrocast customers. read more

I was told by them that they have snowbird service. Before I left I checked again how it works and was told to turn in my equipment and call when I got back home. I called to make an appointment to hook things back and I was now told I had to pay a lot more. Questioned why such a high increase and was told that since "I" turned in "my" equipment I was no long qualified for the new customer plan. I told them that I was told to turn in by "them"....they didn't care.Bottom line..I turned it in... Talked to a supervisor who said there was no way to put me back to my new customer plan. They seem to care about the "new" customer and take advantage of the existing customer. I have dealt with them many times and thought they had the best customer service I have ever dealt with.....not any more! If you plan on disconnecting for your winter vacation get it in writing! Terrible customer service. Got service installed a month ago. Was on hold over an hour on Friday and they said they would come out on Saturday--for us to hang out at the house between 2-5. At 5:15 they said they would be here in 30 minutes. At 6:15 a guy called to say he'd had a flat and would be here in 20 minutes. HE arrived mean and angry, and I asked him to change his attitude. He said the problem was on the fiber, not at our house, and he'd call for someone to fix the fiber on Sunday. "Just hang out at the house all day Sunday until we can get here." He did apologize for his meanness, but apparently he called for the wrong repairs?. On Sunday, the same kind of tech arrives as what was at our home on Saturday. He too said he'd call someone to come today--Sunday--to fix the fiber. He said he did it know why they would call him because they don't do install repairs on Sunday's (I guess that's not a high priority for them), and that is what our problem is. It is now 5:18 on Sunday and we've not heard back. We too will cancel as soon as there is a better provider. read more

I have become increasingly disappointed in the service. The internet has become horribly unreliable, the phone will cut out unexpectedly & right now I have been on hold for an hour & 3 mins. Came home & after 10 mins EVERYTHING went out! Its ridiculous. There's no bad weather, no terrible accidents... NO REASON for EVERYTHING to be out! Well, I have seen all of the bad reviews of ABB and I was concerned, but living on the Eastern Shore, we are limited on cable providers and internet, so I took a chance when they offered fiber optic. First off, they were great to deal with. the sales guy (Otis) came to our street and set up shop to get people to sign up for the fiber service and he explained the process. He emailed updates, right up to where he had a medical emergency and another guy took over. Ray from the Delaware area was great to deal with too. The install was done by Antonio, who is a contractor that they brought in to help improve their customer service relations. He was awesome and did an excellent job of explaining everything and doing great work. The internet service with fiber optic is unreal for this area (get the 120) and the tv service blows Direct out of the water and doesn't fail in a rainstorm... So the positive thing on this is that they are taking the right steps to improve their relationship in the community and the guys they have running it are doing an excellent job. read more
