We had such an enjoyable time staying at the Brenham House Bed and Breakfast. Our host was awesome. She was friendly and very accommodating. The place is adorable, clean and the bed was super comfy. There were homemade cookies and wonderful chocolates and plenty of snacks! I loved the coffee station and appreciated the bottled water. I would highly recommend you staying here if you are in Brenham. It is close to downtown, but us old folks would rather drive. There is a lot to do in Brenham and your host will offer many suggestions. If we are ever back in town, I would definitely check to see if this place is available. read more

This was exactly what we needed after a stressful business meeting in Bellville. Our names were written on the chalk board, home made cookies, chocolates and fancy water and all the tea you could want was waiting for us. The house is super cute, once you are inside it's like a little time warp oasis. Susan and James were so nice and helpful with their suggestions and just making us feel right at home. We stayed in "Antique Rose Room"- I have a habit of trying to avoid rooms that sound too grandmotherly but this room was awesome. The bed was high up with cute wooden stairs. It was decorated with Susan's grandmothers old furniture- but she had amazing taste. Plus the bathroom was just fantastic and they seem to think of everything. Dark makeup towels, bath salts, a refinished beautiful claw foot tub, a nightlight that goes on at nite so you don't stub your toes in an unfamiliar place. Apparently the Brenham house used to be a German Lutheran Church in it's former day but it has been a B&B for a number of years. I won't tell you too much about the history because after Susan and James feed you a gourmet complimentary 3 course breakfast they will come and sit with you at the table and share about themselves and the history. Susan and James 4 years ago ran a very popular Bakery in Houston and the food will be a testament to their previous, current and future success. Make sure and have a cup of tea and sit out on the back porch and do bring your wine after going tasting, they have bottle openers and glasses waiting for you. Brenham is a charming town and we would definitely stay here again. read more

Wonderful B&B with wonderful proprietors. This was our first time here, but one time is all it took for us to fall in love with the place. It's spotless, comfortable, inviting, has loads of character, and James and Susan are incredibly personable and attentive and warm. They seem to think of everything! We love all the personal touches they think of, and the food is amazing (they have a history in the restaurant industry, and it shows!). Not only that, but my husband has several food allergies, and they were able to accommodate him and make his food delicious. He was so impressed, and so grateful. Honestly, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we're in the area. We can see ourselves making a trip and booking a room here JUST to stay here... THAT'S how good it is! We enjoyed a wonderful weekend getaway at the charming Brenham House Bed and Breakfast! After enjoying a fabulous day photographing murals in "downtown" Brenham and a nice group lunch at Yummy's - we decide to continue enjoying the area by visiting the Antique Rose Emporium and other local treasures. We had hoped to stay at a B & B, but didn't have reservations. I called Brenham House B & B and James told us he had one room left! To our delight, we enjoyed some quiet respite at this delightful gem. Walking distance to downtown, we enjoyed some fun tapas and vino at 96 West. Sunday morning we enjoyed an amazing homemade three-course breakfast prepared by Susan and James. Brenham B & B was a fabulous retreat and we will be back! read more

We stayed at the Brenham House bed and breakfast recently for a few days while we were traveling back from the coast. We easily made arrangements with James over the phone prior to our trip. On our arrival, James was awaiting us to help us check in. He made us feel more than comfortable and had chilled water and fresh brownies made for us. He was extremely friendly and spent a lot of time showing us around the house as well as helping us find resources about things to do in the area. After an introduction, we were left to our room, the Garden Dream room, where we had an excellent two nights. The room itself was nicely appointed and decorated. The decor was consistent with early 20th century decor and had a lot of antiques. The bed was a comfortable queen size bed. The en suite bathroom was nicely appointed and had some of the original decor as well. As mentioned in the other review, the breakfast really makes the trip worth it. Each was a three course meal which started with fruit, had a course of meat/eggs/potatoes, and finished with a sweet. The fruit was always tasty, the egg dishes included a delicious cheese and ham souffle, and the two sweet courses (apple turnover the first day and french toast the next) were outstanding. After eating breakfast, we mostly didn't have to eat until the evening. While the breakfast is the highlight of the B&B, the company is probably the second best. James and Susan are really nice and we also had a really nice couple with us for breakfast one day. It was nice to chat with the other guests and learn a little bit about them. Also, James and Susan had a good knowledge of the area and were able to suggest good things to do, such as local wineries. Other small things are good as well: free wireless internet, a bin of games and DVDs, snacks every day from 3-5 pm. It's also within walking distance of downtown Brenham, although given that it is Texas you'll mostly be driving. Overall, I would highly recommend Brenham House for anyone traveling through the area. read more

Susan and Jimmy are the best. My wife and I have stayed at bed and breakfasts all over the state. This one is our favorite by a long shot. Susan and Jimmy go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay and a good time visiting the local area. They are up on all the latest events and happy to recommend the best eateries, wineries, and shops. Each room has a TV and DVD player, and they have a free lending library of good DVD movies. They also have satellite TV in the rooms. They have a library full of books. The rooms have a fridge in them now, which is very convenient. The beds are comfy and the neighborhood is quiet. Susan and Jimmy used to own and operate a bakery in Houston, and their cooking shows it. Best food of any bed and breakfast we've ever stayed at. By far our favorite place to run off to on weekends. Can't recommend them enough. read more

My boyfriend and I spent the evening at the Brenham House after a few days in college station. James the owner was so lovely on the phone prior to our arrival and it was one of the reasons we picked the Brenham House. Equally lovely was the house itself and all of the little touches that came along with the stay. We were greeted with our names on the chalk board and fresh chocolate chip cookies baked by Sue , James wife . We stayed in the king room on the second floor and the bed was very comfortable with a foam mattress and down comforter. Each room was equipped with toiletries, monogrammed robes, ample towels, a hair dryer and iron. We felt privacy from the other guests and the location was perfect to the square. Breakfast was 3 courses and we enjoyed getting to know James, Sue and the other guests! I highly recommend Brenham House if you are in the area! read more

We stayed at the Brenham House for the second time this week after dropping our kids off at camp. It's becoming our tradition to stay at this half way place on our drive back to Austin. Our stay was just as wonderful as last year. As a bonus, we had the place to ourselves again, but the service was still top notch. James met us upon our arrival (the owners live off property). We had the wonderful suite off the front entrance. The queen bed had been upgraded with a king and it was very comfy. Breakfast was amazing..fruit, eggs, potatoes & a berry cream and cake dessert. It's obvious the proprietors take the breakfast part of B&B seriously. They do an outstanding job on all fronts...the accommodations, cleanliness, quaintness, breakfast, service, and hospitality. We live in Houston and wanted to do a fun weekend getaway for my birthday. The Brenham House was better than expected. The attention to details was fantastic. When we arrived, there was a chalkboard welcoming us. In the house, there was another chalkboard going over the breakfast for the following morning. We stayed two nights and the breakfast for both mornings was amazing. The hospitality shown by the owners was great. We walked into town both nights for dinner and live music. .I highly recommend this place! You will not be disappointed. read more

A delightful experience from the time I first corresponded with Jim and Susan to the time we left with a couple of cookies he bagged for us to eat on the way home. Rooms were beautiful, beds were comfortable, lots of little things that mean a lot throughout the stay - they are in the business of making you feel at home and they excel at doing just that. Our visits to Independence, to Chappell Hill and Brenham were fun but I wouldn't mind just coming back and sitting in the sun room drinking my coffee until wine time and then switching. The coffee and tea are available around the clock, and they have wine glasses, opener and a even a fridge and wine cooler to chill it down. Like I said, lots of little things that mean alot. If you are going to the Brenham area, you can't do better than The Brenham House! read more

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the brenham house. We stayed in the glorious morning suite, which had a private library/living room. Our bed was a clean and comfortable luxurious canopy king. James and Susan were perfect hosts, so helpful and courteous, making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Breakfast was to die for. What a find! Picturesque little house in downtown Brenham. James and Susan are lovely hosts- I came in late with no reservation and they were more than willing to accommodate me- they even let me stick around when my plans adjusted themselves and I needed a place to wait for a couple of hours. The house was immaculate. Private bathrooms, inviting yards and garden with a chorus of owls during the evening and songbirds in the morning. They kept the house nice and cool which provided for a very comfortable sleep. There were people in all of the rooms, but I couldn't hear a peep through the walls. I spent a lot of time on the front porch complete with rocking chairs and a swing. Breakfast was well made and served in a group setting, which at first made me a little nervous but the atmosphere here created a very comfortable setting. Not only will I come back, but I will make trips just to stay here. read more

We arrived at The Brenham House later than we expected and the hosts not only waited up for us but were so very cordial and welcoming. Our room was not only beautiful, but also extremely comfortable. The bed had memory foam and we were spoiled with a down comforter. Little surprises like the chocolate candy waiting for us near the bed and bottled water on the bedside tables made us feel quite special. Breakfast was a three-course tasty delight including fruit sorbet, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and fresh pancakes with blueberries and pecans. Orange juice and fresh, delicious coffee rounded out the meal. Our hosts treated us like good friends and enjoyed telling us about the history of the house and places of interest in their quaint town of Brenham. We give it our highest recommendation. read more

Fantastic time in Brenham and couldn't have asked for better hosts! There was so much to do around town but was hard to stay away from The Brenham House. We ran around to Burton, Washington-on-the-Brazos, fell in love with Independence, and browsed the shops that were just a few blocks away in Historic Downtown Brenham. Susan and James helped us start each busy day with a breakfast feast! Everything was delicious and looked set for a king. We slept soundly and comfortably all three nights whether the house was full on Saturday night or if we were on our own Sunday night. We will definitely have to spend another weekend at The Brenham House next time we need a little R&R. read more

Girlfriends weekend delight! The two of us ran away from our families and responsibilities in Houston to stay at this quaint B&B. We booked the Bluebonnet Room which was perfect for the two of us. We had our own private entrance, adequate sized bath, delightful sun porch that overlooked the back yard. We enjoyed the privacy of our room and bath as well as the generous breakfast and afternoon goodies. Loved the history of the house.
