Probably the worst experience I have had since being in jersey. I don't know if it was the fact that they closed at 3 and I came at 240 and they were already trying to close everything up and you have me trying to order a sandwich and I pissed them off or what. But business hours mean service. I usually go to the one in Rumson and it's a little out the way but I like it. It closed early today so decided to try this one out. Pretty much the same place just in a different location right? WRONG!!! That wrap was the smallest wrap I have ever seen in my life. This thing was barely larger than a extra small burrito. These people gave me no veggies whatsoever inside of it. They gave me the Ahi Tuna like I wanted. Cheese and tomato with mayo sauce. That's it! Then charged me 11.00 for the wrap. I pay 11.50 for the one in Rumson yet they load the dang thing. I asked for a tomato wrap but got a wheat wrap once I asked about it they said they didn't have any other ones yet didn't ask me if I wanted something else. I asked about the no veggies and they said they would charge me an extra 2.50. I thought it was just me until I looked at my wife's salmon sandwich and it was the same way. No veggies, barely any salmon, the bread smelt like it was going bad (they didn't have pumpernickel). And then it didn't help the person was getting an attitude as when I asked for the Ahi Tuna she rolled her eyes and then picked it up out of the display case with her bare hands. I told her I didn't want that one as she didn't even wash her hands and she was touching other stuff. So she rolled her eyes and grabbed another one with the proper paper and threw that one back in the case. The register girl was picking food out of her braces with a toothpick and trying to cash me out so I can leave. I asked for a receipt and she gave the rudest look. Just overall worst experience. I should have just went to Jersey Mike's. From now on if I want a good deli sandwich or wrap then I will definitely be going to the Brennan's in Rumson!!! Worth the drive! read more

I love this deli and hit it up every time I'm in town. Everything is fresh and the service is always superb. My favorite is the grilled chicken wrap but everything I get Here is always good. Tried to get breakfast here. It was empty when we got there. We placed our order and waited almost 25 minutes and still no food. Other people came after us, got their food, and finished it even. We went up to the counter to check the status of our order 3 times and each time they said "just a few more minutes" or "sorry the grill is really busy." It just didn't make sense. We ended up canceling our order because it shouldn't take over 30 minutes to get a breakfast order and they were definitely serving other people ahead of us. Maybe their food is good but I'll never know because I'm never going back. There's definitely something going on behind the scenes. I had never felt so discriminated against in my life. There are two things I usually get here: the tortellini salad and the Waldorf salad. Both are delicious but the freshness of the tortellini salad is sometimes a bit lacking. The tiny bit of sesame oil (at least that's what I think it is) they include in the Waldorf salad is pure mad genius though and elevates a pretty typical salad into something much more unique. read more

Brennens is the best sandwich shop around Monmouth University-BY FAR. They have a huge selection, and make things pretty fast- considering that they're always busy. Their sandwiches are big- good if you want half now and half later. They can be on the pricier side, but they are worth it considering the amount of food you get. read more

I love this place, best hangover breakfast sandwich, not sure why - but it hits spots that need to be hit after consuming entirely too many drinks the night before. I typically go with a pork roll, egg and cheese on one of their specialty rolls they have on display (ALWAYS go for one of those random rolls because they just are infinitely better). I have only gotten lunch from here once, but dream about coming back again for lunch, because their specialty sandwiches all look incredible. I can't even remember what one I got, but I do remember that the deli meat was not dry at all and I ate it a while after I purchased it and the bread was not soggy at all. Their egg salad looks amazing and I'm hoping to get that the next time I'm there. I would suggest calling in orders and picking them up because ordering there does take a while, and you might be overwhelmed with the options. Confused by all the high reviews. I've been there twice and that will be the last. Extremely over priced tiny sandwiches. Last week I ordered a wrap with bean and corn salsa. Chicken was extremely dry and the wrap was smaller than a 1/2 sub you get at Subway and cost $9. Then I got the chicken and bacon wrap. Was good but again, very small for a whopping $9!! They should at least include chips with that! I get far juicier, better tasting, BIGGER, LESS EXPENSIVE sandwiches at the Shoprite deli (got a huge 1/2 Italian combo stacked w/meat for $6!!). I don't know how people are paying this much for mediocre sandwiches/wraps. read more

The food is always fresh here and they have a wide variety to choose from. Their chicken francaise on a baguette is particularly tasty, as is their sliced turkey on any bread, with cranberry sauce. They are also prompt, and the wait is never more than five minutes. read more

Customer service was terrible. I had to repeat my order at least 3 times over the phone to a snotty girl on the other end. When I got there to pick it up she was just as rude and couldn't seem to understand me even though she was two feet away from me and was just as rude about it. This place has decent food but you will be ripped off one way or another. I ordered a sandwich which had fresh mozzarella on it, the sandwich was 10$ to begin with. I'm vegan so I asked for my sandwich without the cheese and to add a little extra veggies. They charged me an extra 2$ and then were very rude when I called and asked about the charge. And mind you, I wouldn't just wright this over one incident. I have been eating here occasionally for years, and the food is just way overpriced. This incident pushed me to write a review. If you visit Brennan's in Rumson NJ now run and own by one of the previous owners you will see what I am conveying here. I do not mind paying high prices for quality food but stale bread? Old reviled eggs in the case? Salads in the case made with old lettuce, full of lettuce and very little chicken etc? Rude personnel? NOT WORTH IT. One of the two previous owners (couple but no longer one) runs Brennan's in Oakhurst NJ and the other one only runs the Brennan's in Rumson - unfortunately I am closer to the Oakhurst location, which two years ago was awesome. Oakhurst owner does not even badder to return calls to his customers. The Rumson NJ location is still great. Visit Brennan's in Oakhurst, spend a lot of money and be dissappointed with the quality of food and service. These guys used to be so nice, friendly and helpful. But something's changed. Ordered several fried grouper sandwiches to go but asked that they pack them "deconstructed" so they don't get soggy. Also asked for a piece of lemon. They had the audacity to charge an extra dollar for each sandwich. When I asked why they first said it was for the lemon. I told them to keep the lemon so they then said it was to wrap the sandwiches "deconstructed". I've been a customer for many years. When they saw I was unhappy, they gave me $3 back and the busboy said "If you don't like our policy, don't come back" So I won't! read more

Every time I go here for a sandwich the completely foul it up. I think the reason I keep going back is because my request is always simple ( no vinegar) I had to hope that someday they could figure it out. The food here is fresh (ALWAYS) and quite delicious. They never skimp you on portions, but that's also why their prices are a little high. However you pay for what you get, and this is quality eating. I am a big fan of Brennan's food.. Just not the owner that I met. I went in Brennan's to pick up an order I called in, about $25 worth of breakfast sandwiches. I had a Dunkin donuts coffee in my hand while waiting for the food inside. The owner approached me, put his hand on my shoulder and said "um I'm going to have to ask you to leave you can't bring outside drinks in here. We serve coffee here, you can buy it here." .. I politely said I would prefer if he didn't put his hand on my shoulder and explained that I was waiting to pick up an order to go. He was still furious at me, and proceeded to tell me I was a "snotty girl" and not to come back with Dunkin donuts coffee again. Needless to say I won't be back at all. I'm not sure why he got so angry over a coffee or why he would treat any customer, not to mention, a loyal customer that way. I now avoid Brennan's as much as I can. Like I said the foods great, but I'd rather not give business to someone who treats their customers that way. I understand that no outside drinks may be a policy of the store, but this could have been handled in a much more professional, polite manner. read more
