This place is the best place for bagels. The bagels are always good and the service is EXCELLENT. I once purchased the 1lb of Tuna (Btw which is the best) and I was riding back on my bike and the bag gave way. So I went to them and they were so nice about it they gave me a new tuna and helped me clean up. Thanks to Yelp I have found a very good Bagel shop 15 minutes from Seabright. The place is small, only 5 customers in at a time given the situation with COVID19. Everyone is masked and the line moves quick. Excellent selection of Freshly baked bagels and Muffins. The Bagels are cooked old school, Crispy on the outside. This is a strictly take your bagel and coffee to go establishment. No seats, no egg sandwiches. The establishment is Kosher. Cream cheese and assorted salads are available in refrigerators as is Milk, juice etc. 1/3 star off as I was looking for half and half and the expiration date was the day after my visit. 1/3 off for the lack of appetizing options and everything is prepackaged. 1/3 star off for Cash only....it's 2020....step up your game. In any case, I am happy to put up with the shortcomings to have access to excellent bagels so close to home. read more

Finally got around to trying Hot Bagel and glad we did, as they have an excellent product. Their bagels are very NYC like but on a larger scale. If you snag one right out of the oven you are in for a treat, they're piping hot and delicious. Their scallion cream cheese however is just so so with a waxy consistency and a little overpowering oniony flavor. No problem we just stop by Bagel Station in SLH to pick up a container of their excellent cream cheese on the way home, problem solved. We have only rated one other bagel shop, which is in Red Bank, five stars so this is a well earned recommendation. Bottom line: They have been in business for 40 years so they must be doing something right. read more

I think The Hot Bagel is a family owned place. I know it acts like it. The service is friendly and fast and the place is spotless. It appears someone really cares about this place. They have a great selection of bagels and their onion bagels are some of the best we have had. What I really love is that when we were there the bagels we wanted were hot. We were in heaven. My husband and I are not from town so we had to eat the bagel in the car, and they wouldn't let me use their employee bathroom so I had to hold it in. But great to know they're kosher, which i thought implies clean (as well as other requirements) but when the girl continually touches her face mask while prepping your food, I'm not sure that it meets that standard. Used to love going here in the 80s and 90s when I lived in Oakhurst. By chance, I stopped in the day before last, ordered 4 Garlic Bagels: 2 plain and 2 with Scallion Cream Cheese. They only accept cash, so I paid the kid who said he worked there for 10 years and left to enjoy what I believed would be the chewy deliciousness that I remembered from the days of yore. Long story short. The bagels were stale, like yesterday's leftover donuts dipped in cement - hard as rocks. My wife hurt her tooth biting into hers. Wonder if they skipped the boiling process because they seemed more like bread than bagels. And, man, could they spare the scallion cream cheese? I'm appalled with the customer service of this establishment. It is so vile I'm not sure how they stay in business. For a decade or more we have been ordering bagels and stuff for break fast. When we went into the store to place our order for this year we were met by a kid named pat. We told pat we wanted to place our order and he said we're not taking waters. These are the best bagels in town, maybe even the state. This bagel shop opens around four in the morning, and you can get the hottest most freshest bagel you ever tasted. They don't sell any toppings besides for cream cheese, egg salad and tuna, but the taste of the bagel makes up for the lack of variety. The tuna is my favorite!
