Called today to question my bill. My service tech helped me with my repair in under 10 minutes, then I received a bill for $180! $30 part, no problem, but $150 for 10 minutes worth of work... doctors & attorneys don't even charge this much. Once I spoke to Athena she had a bad attitude to start & proceeded to tell me she was offended I questioned the bill. Furthermore, she told me to sell my house because I was questioning her bill. Mike, the tech was courteous, efficient, and went out of his way to get the parts to fix within the same day. This should make my point. The owner of Brent's Pool Repair has given permission for this review of her business. I bought a new home in Palm Springs in January 2019. With a week the pool pump broke. The American Home Shield warranty company sent me to Brent's Pool Repair. They worked with me to have the pump replaced. They recommended a "top of the line" Pentair pool pump that costs $1600. It cost more than what the house warranty would cover, but I believed in what the owner Athena Crabtree was telling me and that it would last 10 years. The company was courteous and cooperative. In fact they were such a good company to work with that when I needed a pool cleaning service in August they recommended their good friend Marvin Rodriguez of Marvin's Pool Cleaning Services. Later in September, I met with Marvin and we discussed upgrading the pool with a new skimmer basket, auto-fill valve, and pool light. Marvin it turned out did not know what he was doing and in the process of doing this work, broke the pool pump. I went back to Brent's pool repair to get them to help save my butt and to apologize for not going with them for the upgrade work in the first place. (Marvin was cheaper than Brent's PR so I went with Marvin.) This is where things get "funky." Marvin had contacted BPR before I contacted them and so BPR was eager to defend their friend and kept telling me right from the beginning "the work that Marvin did would not have damaged the pump." I thought that was a bit funny because the pump is brand new and has been working like a charm until Marvin started working on the pool. BPR owner, Athena set up a time to have someone go out and repair the pump. This work was done quickly and was under warranty. However, no one has been able to tell me what actually went wrong with the pump. Athena keep saying "normal wear and tear." I have never bought a $1600 piece of equipment to find it break 8 months later, esp right after someone has been mucking with the plumbing of the pool. I began to question if BPR actually installed a new pool pump or a refurbished one. Does BPR install refurbished pumps to only make money off fixing them under warranty? Why is it breaking so quickly? A call to Pentair is coming to find out and report BPR if necessary. So I told Athena that I will take my pump warranty and if I need anyone else in the future I will work with another pool repair company. BPR comes across as shady, not willing to tell the whole truth -- just like others on here have said. I still have yet to know what broke in the pump. They will not disclose this. This prompted the first e-mail you see uploaded here. I guess a customer service call is annoying to Athena of BPR , esp when it deals with their friends, i.e Marvin , damaging expensive pool equipment. My calls to BPR were now deemed "therapists calls" where I could "bitch, and moan, and ramble." I actually though BPR was saving my butt from this Marvin R. who destroyed my property. And BPR did fix the pump from the damage Marvin caused it, which I appreciated. I was simply taken aback from the long rambling tirade from Athena. After I read the first e-mail I e-mailed back questioning if this is the professional way BPR treats all of their customers? The replay I got back was that I was a "supreme lunatic" and to "eat a shit sandwich." Read for yourself. Athena's e-mail does more for this business review then I could ever write. Does this business value and respect customers? - the owner's e-mail speaks for itself. I do not have to write anything else. If you use this business be warned that this is who you are going to get when you call on the phone. Owner, Athena is a good spokesperson for why you should avoid this company. Attempted to call them 7 times and never was able to get someone to answer the phone. Getting a call back was difficult. Once manufacture diagnosed issue with their engineer, Brent's Pool repair was supposed to come replace part on an $5k unit. Instead they came and changed some settings and told me everything was fine. Issue persisted and company lied to manufacture about when they came out to my house. They didn't have the HVAC experience to perform the repair in the first place. Tech was argumentative and rude too. Very disappointed and hope others receive better service. The Tech came out and replaced 2 parts and said the problem was fixed. It was not fixed. It took them another week to come back. The owner said he needed payment for the last service call before he would work on it again. I said " why would i pay for the last stuff when the heater was not fixed yet. He is the most unprofessional service provider i have ever dealt with. I paid his bill and then proceeded to hire another company to remove the Jandy heater and install a new $4200.00 Pentair heater. They incorrectly diagnosed a pool filter as just being "noisy", when in fact it is a bad bearing in the motor where the only way to repair it was to replace the motor. Thus, the home warranty declined to repair or replace on the basis that complaints about "noise" was not covered under the warranty. read more

Brent and his company are 1st class. I have been using their services for about 6 years now over 2 homes I have owned. They have always been very good, fair priced and very honest. That's a rarity here in the desert I've found. I just upgraded my current pool system to a wireless system, replaced the pump with a variable speed one & added a salt water cell too. I also had to do some repairs to loose tile/grout, etc. They were always there when scheduled and helped with training me on how to use and set up the automation features. I give them a 2-thumbs up! Marlene was a nightmare to work with. I had opened up a service request with Fidelity regarding a salt water cell issue. A tech came out and said I would require a new salt water cell. Brent's said this was under warranty and so they cancelled my service request with Fidelity and submitted the warrant. Since I was not the original owner the warranty was denied and now I have to pay another service fee, but the way I was treated on the phone by Marlene was very harassed, she made it sound like it was my fault, I didn't close the service request, she did. Terrible customer service. Just a quick response to the update by the owner. According to Fidelity they cancelled the service request and they were told by Brent's pools this was a pre-existing condition. How would Brent's pools know it was a pre-existing condition? Why would they put that in their notes to Fidelity? Also, I have now received 3 different comments from this woman cussing me out for my post - This is harassment and I plan on reporting this. UPDATED REVIEW AFTER SPEAKING WITH OWNER: This company was sent by Pentair for warranty repair on our Pentair pool pump. Both technicians that came out told us immediately that there was not a problem (Pentair already confirmed there was a problem over the phone), even though our pump was vibrating, and then making a squeeling noise after they replaced it the first time. (Sidenote: I was even nice enough to tip the first tech $20). 2nd techs explanation for the squealing was "it's a pool pump", however reluctantly said they'd order another one. What really was disappointing and upsetting, causing us to write this review, was after changing the motor the 2nd time, he started walking away and I asked him if he could stay to make sure there was no unusual noises this time. Instead, he told me "if you are going to be so sensitive about noises, there is nothing I can do, there was nothing wrong with the other motors... you are just wasting good motors" and left quickly without testing or checking that the issue was resolved. This time the motor didn't need to be changed again anyhow, as the pump worked as it should. Sadly, it was in fact leaking since he didn't check it, and our pump wouldn't stop priming since he didn't secure one of the pipes correctly, which we had to fix ourselves. Yes Brent, it was actually leaking, not just wet, as you alluded to. Luckily we are handy and fixed it. Spoke to owner Brent -- he says some people can't be pleased (apparently that's us), and agreed with the techs comments. He said his company does not provide white glove service, that these are construction type workers. I don't think we are asking for white glove service, just some basic customer service skills, and a pump motor that doesn't vibrate or squeal. read more

She always returns phone calls within 24 hrs and always gets your appt scheduled around your time, squeezing you in where possible.
