ATMOSPHERE: I love the atmosphere of this coffee shop! Came here on a weekday around noon. It's very spacious and has plenty of outlets. It's kind of like the lobby of a small ski lodge-meets-coffee shop kind of feel. It was a little cold at the tables towards the front of the shop in November but that's to be expected. FOOD & COFFEE: It does take some time for the food to come up (+/- 10 mins). I ordered the avocado toast with egg on top ($7 + $1.50 for the egg) and a large hot latte, which came out to $12.85. The toast was solid & tood. It was smaller and didn't have as much avocado as I anticipated but hit was a good balance and hit the spot. The jalapeños were a little spicey and the pepper on the egg was a little overwhelming so definitely ask for less of them if that's not your thing. read more

We made a detour to stop at this place on our way to Philadelphia from Virginia. And wow it was worth the extra drive! Plenty of seating area inside. The menu had just about anything you could want! I had a bagel sandwich with peanut butter, banana, cinnamon and honey. It was delicious and filling! Their drink menu had so many options. It was hard to pick just one. I got the Ying Yang which is white and dark mocha. It was delicious as well. Would gladly make this detour again and hope to be back! Pretty legit coffee franchise for Delaware. Had the affogato as well as a mocha. The affogato was smooth and creamy, thanks to the heaping helping of vanilla ice cream. The mocha was decent. It didn't have that bittersweet taste a lot of premium coffee shops have, but it was still decent! The space inside was beautiful! Pretty nice atmosphere coffeeshop for this area. Very large-you're bound to find a seat. Couches, cozy chairs, high tables, counter seats, and a communal table. It was winter, so fireplace was on. Wooded interior, high ceilings, very warm and airy feeling. The service was friendly. Why I'm writing a review: I ordered their signature black tea - loose in a mesh bag. Upon entering the coffee shop, I could immediately tell that I was going to like hanging out at this place. It has a beautiful aesthetic with the aged wood walls making you feel like you are somewhere out in nature. I love how there is vibrant flowers hanging around the light fixtures. I ordered a coconut mocha and it was delicious. I also ordered the soup of the day; however, it took a while for that order to come out and it was lukewarm when they served it to me. the best coffee shop in Delaware, hands down. drinks are delicious (my favorite is an iced matcha latte with oat milk and honey), the quality of the coffee is exceptional, the food is tasty, and the vibes are immaculate. each location is a little different, but all of the decor is so unique and tasteful and makes for a nice ambiance. i'm not sure if all locations are back to full dine-in capacity since covid, but if so, i definitely recommend sitting down over a caffeinated beverage with a friend. especially at the greenville location, where they're open later and have a lot more food, some alcoholic beverages, and even live music sometimes. i always take people here when they visit Delaware, and it's always the first place i look forward to going when i'm in the area. read more

Stopped in here while traveling for work because of the high ratings and always so important ~off street parking~ I was impressed by the wide variety of specialty drinks they had to offer! I landed on the German Chocolate Cake iced latte which really just tasted like coconut with a hint of chocolate BUT was still good (just VERY sweet). One thing that was upsetting was that even though it was a weekday around 10am there was no where to sit so I couldn't stick around. Brew-Haha is a coffee mecca ... such a delightful hidden gem. I was exploring the area with friends while in-town for a wedding, when I came across this spot. It's very spacious - it almost looks and feels like a Whole Foods inside. There's lots of wood detailing, flowers and greenery as well as unique details decorating every corner. There is TONS of indoor seating, as well as some nice outdoor tables with umbrellas. The menu has something for everyone, and more creative latte concoctions than I've ever seen anywhere else. My husband got the Grasshopper (mocha/mint) latte which was amazing frozen. I got the Milky Way (white mocha/caramel), also good. They were offering sandwich samples at the counter, which were delicious and fresh. We totally would have gotten some, if we hadn't already eaten. The baristas are also super helpful. I have to give super props to the guy who completely re-made my latte free-of-charge because I am a DUMB and forgot to order decaf (#pregnancyproblems). I wish I remembered his name, but I can give a holler to Nick (who served us the day before - and yes, we did like it so much that we came back the next day). read more

This was my favorite coffee shop based on the great coffee and location near my house, the ambience and landscaping/flowers in front are always beautiful as well. My one complaint is the SERVICE, or lack there of. Today we literally had the cashier roll her eyes at us while we were trying to make a decision on what to have for lunch, mind you we were the only people in line. She literally walked away from the cash register. Very rude. I've also had a few unpleasant conversations with some of the male barista's as well when asking about their different blends/roasts. This is disappointing because I am definitely a regular as it is only a few steps from my house and I often bring my family & friends there. Went here for breakfast while in town. I was so disappointed. I ordered egg whites, ham and cheddar on a whole wheat everything bagel. I was so excited to have a bagel (it's been awhile). When they brought it out, I asked for ketchup... they don't have ketchup!! Who sells breakfast sandwiches and doesn't offer condiments?! Then, I look at my sandwich (wasn't sure it was even whole wheat) and there was literally a slice of ham on the entire sandwich. When I first moved to Delaware, I sneered at the silly pun.. now it makes me smile each time I pass. I must be a first state girl now! Got to hand it to this chain for making darn good coffee, nice pastries and such, and good soups (hearty, served with fresh bread) and sandwiches, and all for a decent price. The Newark shop is the best for sitting and reading the ample magazine selection for a while.. but the Trolley Square one is an easy stop too. EDIT: ok, I've got to say that Brew-Ha-Ha has gone downhill in the last year or so. They have revamped their coffee menu to go fancy, but as far as I can tell there is no major change in the quality. If you're going to get condescending and make the difference between an Italian cap and an "American" one, your espresso had better be damn good. This is still just solid, predictable, fine. My main beef is with the changed food menu. Slightly fancier-than-usual sandwiches (like on foccacia instead of baguette-- whoop de doo) now in the $7 range and smaller than they used to be and fewer options (often no veggie option). Soup used to come with bread? No more. What did that save you, new managers? 20 cents an order? I used to go in for lunch 2-3 times a week. Now I only go if I have to meet someone there. read more

Proof that sbux needs to die. Brew Haha is a good example of a local coffee shop. My chorizo egg sandwich was good. Atmosphere is welcoming and staff are friendly. They are also an on site roastery (Brandywine Coffee Roasters). Although they aren't perfect (scone was doughy, no pourover or french press available), the fact that they blow sbux out of the water earns them five stars from me. Okay I would have recommended them precovid. But since pandemic it's been an absolute nightmare. I can't stand this place anymore. Solidifying online ordering and phone calls as your only way of ordering during pandemic and then out of nowhere not allowing anyone to call an order in or order online (even tho half of us have jobs we have to run to and don't have time to be twiddling our thumbs in the store) turning off online ordering is a problem. i've gotten to know this BrewHaHa fairly well over the last seven years as an occasional, then regular, and now back to occasional customer. Initially in 2007 I felt like this place was WAY over-pretentious about everything on the menu, with undistinguishable food items and drinks. At some point in the ensuing years, they upgraded the menu and it showed in the taste and quality. However, the baked goods are not always as fresh as they could be and sometimes may be carried over from one day to the next. This location received a face-lift within the last 1 - 2 years and I feel like that brought it up to more contemporary standards, with edgy gray paint and a clearer definition of the counter area. Seating is limited and not of the sit down and stay awhile type (no easy chairs) although the outside deck chairs are great in the warmer weather. In the current era I feel like BrewHaHa endures for the pleasure of supporting a local business - naturally a very big thing in Delaware - and the community feel of the locations, particularly this one that's often busy with locals in the mornings and weekends. Works well as a tandem visit with some of the other foodie establishments in the area, like Toscana and the other Trolley Square restaurants. read more

This is my favorite local coffee shop--Delaware pride all the way. Good coffee & great sandwiches. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed in a spacious inside area. Music is always playing in the background and the fireplace is a nice touch. Several tables with umbrellas provide a nice amount of outdoor seating. It can get a bit chilly inside, so I bring an extra layer year round. Such GREAT coffee, the baristas are young, personable, knowledgeable and efficient. (I wish for my $$$ though, they'd do the 'foam art' in my lattes, but hey... not every barista is a struggling art major, lol.) Now, the not so cool: The ambiance is pretty awful. Both times I visited recently-- there are patrons who cannot regulate their conversational volume. 'Indoor voices'; especially in establishments where the clientele linger, etc. well, that's key, in mho. The laissez faire attitude/reaction of the establishment (crew) is UNACCEPTABLE in my world. I honestly don't accept that a coffee house will knowingly charge me $$ for a nicely crafted, delicious cup of java in an atmosphere that has a few too many loud, rude people. (I've been loud, sure. Rude? Not intentionally) Honestly, it was OFF THE CHAIN in here. I felt very uncomfortable, because the young baristas working there allowed an obviously drug addicted, (or something) panhandler wander the shop, harassing the patrons. He purchased NOTHING; yet 'buttonholed'/approached and spoke to EVERY SINGLE person in there. I wear ear buds and listen to music. He came up BEHIND ME with his weird toilet paper flowers he attempted to SELL... to... buy more drugs? I dunno. This was AFTER I stared open mouthed at the 'regular' (the baristas assured me) who talk/yelled about 'conjugal relations', or his lack thereof. I left saying: "Wow... 16 years later-- Wilmington is still 100% DELA-WEIRD." This seems to be a 'theme' for this cafe chain, read my review of the Greenville location. It's really a shame. My absolute favorite spot for coffee in Delaware. Specialty coffees are always made to perfection while their house roast is always delicious. Staff is always friendly and the service is as quick as can be. The bakery items are much better than they used to be with a delicious blueberry lemon pound cake and also a great blueberry muffin. Sandwiches are so-so but they are Brew-Haha and not Sandwich-Haha. This is a great way to brighten your morning.
