I contacted Rick Brewer online, to order a dump-truck load of decorative gravel, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. He's quick with messaging and delivery, offers good prices, and is incredibly honest and easy to work with. The supplier provided Rick with an amount that was one ton shy of what he had requested, and when he arrived, he quickly told us that and charged us less. It says a lot about his integrity, since we had no way of measuring the delivered amount and would've never known the difference. I can not rave enough about Brewer Earth Movers, the quality of their work, professionalism, ease of scheduling & all at an unbeatable price! Below is my detailed review, but if you are short on time the only thing you need to know is Brewer Earth Movers are the most professional, friendly, capable, knowledgeable & affordable company, and you can not go wrong hiring them! The Project: My small-ish back yard had been previously incorrectly graded with the whole back yard sloping toward the house. The last light rain shower already had huge amounts of water pooling around the house & was already threatening to start seeping into the house itself. Unfortunately the level of soil directly around the house was already at its highest allowable level, so the only way to fix the problem would be to remove at least 6" from the back of the property & re-slope the entire yard to direct all water flow to the back wall, where french drains would allow the water to travel under my wall into my lower back-back yard. Choosing the Company: So this simple sounding yet complicated project needed the right company to do the job. One that understood my vision for the eventual landscaping to be done in the years to come, had the equipment & knowhow to grade the whole yard in a way to insure the water would be properly channeled away from all structures & yet leave the main section of the yard looking nearly flat & perfect for kids/dogs to play on it. I received 5 different company estimates, each chosen from several different job service sites with high customer ratings, but even before getting their final job estimates I knew that Brewer Earth Movers was the company for me. Their communication style even before meeting in person made me instantly relaxed & my gut kept saying this was the company for me. After meeting with them & showing them the job site, its hurdles & my long range vision for the landscaping, my gut instincts again announced they were the ones for the job. They took the time to truly listen to my needs, asking a ton of questions, clarifying all the job specifications, & pointing out possible issues to my original plan I had not thought of. Doing it all in a way that made it feel instantly like a team endeavor & they masterfully maintained that delicate balance beautifully of giving the customer what they want - while making sure they get what they really need. The other companies I had out for estimates provided a sharpe contrast. Several refused to even hear my long term landscaping plans and insisted on telling the "little lady" what they wanted to do to my yard regardless of if it would destroy all future plans & would create 3x the work for me. Others kept up-selling the project, insisting I needed things that I knew I did not. And those were the ones that did not make me feel like I should triple lock the doors for the following weeks to come. Thankfully, after I got All the different company job estimates, Brewer Earth Movers had the best quote (only quote that beat them was from the company that made me feel like I should install extra door locks after meeting them). And I will be honest, even if their bid had come in higher, they would still have been awarded the job solely on the fact that I felt comfortable & confident the job would be done correctly after meeting them. Getting the job done: Brewer Earth Movers were very punctual, showing up exactly when they said they would. They were again dressed professionally, vehicles well marked with their company logo, carefully parked in front of my house insuring they were not blocking or interfering with my neighbor's driveways and greeted me with handshakes & smiles and did another quick job walk through before beginning the process of off loading their large equipment. Within 5 minutes of arrival tell the moment they finished the job, this husband & wife team had the energy & capability of 6+ workers and I had to neg them to take any water & food breaks. They used a laser measurer to check the base line and continued to remeasure every few hours to insure that they were removing enough dirt and sloping in all areas to the magic slope numbers that would insure proper drainage while still leaving a very ascetically pleasing and functional yard. Despite the photos making it hard to tell, they removed over 12 tons of dirt and the yard looks fantastic! Everything is properly graded now to keep the water moving away from the house, garage, driveway & side walls and directs it all towards the back wall with its hidden french drains. Final Opinion: Obviously I am very happy with the job completed by Brewer Earth Movers. This husband & wife team did such a great job that I wish I had more land for them to work on. I honestly can not think of a single thing they could have done better. They exceeded all my expectations in all ways, in the quality of their work, communication & personal connection and the final project cost. read more

Brewer Earth Movers is such a relief to work with in the contractor world. I'm so happy to recommend their work due to the professionalism, dependability, and integrity I experienced from start to finish with the work they did for me. The first time I hired Rick was to grade my driveway. I was really impressed at the clear communication, right from the beginning. I've had so many other experiences with contractors of being yanked around, them not showing up and sometimes not returning my calls, or straight up leaving the job unfinished. I experienced the opposite with this family-run business. Rick is really efficient and skilled with the tractor. I couldn't believe how much he got done in just one day! He also took the time to educate me about the nature of the work (#notmydepartment) and brought up good points that saved time and money. I hired Rick with Brewer Earth Movers. This was the worst mistake I made. He uses "Veteran" as his catch to get work but he is a disrespect to the word and our military. He and I made an agreement on price and when it came time to paying him, he charged me $200 more. When I asked him what the extra charge was for he started giving me other things we never agreed upon and he also started to threaten me. Literally threatening me and he was acting unstable. On three occasions he was ready to get into a physical altercation with me just because I was questioning the extra charge. I had to calm the situation down three different times while he used vulgarity and profanity towards me and my wife. I had to ask my wife to go inside the house for her safety. He is a big guy and he uses his size to intimidate people to pay him. He broke the pavers in our patio when he drove over with the machine but he didn't care about that. He caused $350 in damages to my patio but he didn't want to talk about that and quickly excused why he wasn't responsible. I paid him the extra $200 because the safety of me and my wife was in question and I just wanted him to get off our property. I advise everyone to do your research, be patient when choosing the person or company that you hire and don't fall for the sympathy of the use of "Veteran". read more
