We ate at Bertie's in last night and had a great experience. Been wanting to try this place for a while and they did not disappoint! We ordered a mango margarita, Mexican street corn fries, garlic parm fries, chicken caeser wrap and a kielbasa cheesesteak. The street corn fries were piled high with street corn, sautéed onions, jalapeños and cheese, for 10$ that was a steal! The parm fries were covered in parm cheese and garlic butter. The cheesesteak was piled high with chopped kielbasa, onions, and cheese sauce on top of a soft roll. The caeser wrap was delicious also, filled with grilled chicken, lettuce cheese and caeser dressing Will def be going back for more! read more

Bertie's Inn, under new management for the past year plus and I think they might have had some growing pains but now they have really hit their stride. Service and food quality is excellent. I just had the berry crunch salad and it was awesome. Angel food cake croutons? Soooo good. They have burgers to order, also very good. They also make their own kielbasa loaf and you can get that in a cheese steak or on nachos, both recommended. The beer selection is nice, plenty of other cocktails, ciders, hard seltzers, etc. They have pretty much moved the whole operation outside to the enclosed (as needed) deck. Unfortunately, Berties is no secret. This place is packed all the time and parking can be problematic. Get here early or make a reservation, but really just get here early! They do offer gluten free and vegan options. Get here, fast! read more

First time visiting and definitely not the last! We heard the build-your-own burgers were good and then we saw the ad for build-your-own bloody mary's. They were fantastic!! Been going to this place for over 30 years! Love how it has evolved and grown into the bar it is. While the menu has expanded the food quality is just OK in my opinion. Had a Berties burger which has been the long standing staple and it was just OK. Not great, not bad but just OK. While I will be back, we will see what their quality is like. read more

sad for me to say this but I was not impressed by the new Bertie's. we ordered our food but one meal never came. After waiting 20 minutes for the food the owner gave a lame excuse instead of just admitting that a mistake was made. I would have thought he would have tried to do some goodwill but he never did. I always thought the old Bertie's had expensive beer but our pitcher of beer cost $19.50. The deck was full of people and they did not have the staff to serve all the people. Our server was overwhelmed and overworked. Meanwhile the owner was inside doing paperwork. Needless to say I had a horrible experience that could have easily been corrected by the owner. read more

Bertie's is your Best Bet for Burger & a Beer in Berks. And on this particular summer night it was simply the right place to be. Bertie's is not a fancy place. From the outside it's a rather unassuming old stone inn, placed too close to the road like many other Berks establishments. The inside of the inn is also fairly mundane but comfortable. The real action is out back. Weather permitting, the place to be is out in the back where they have a spacious open-air covered deck area. The large rectangular bar is the heart of the action, but there are plenty of (plastic) tables on the deck as well. An armada of slowly turning ceiling fans keeps the air moving nicely. Full bar. Draft beer selections are limited but okay. Beer is served in plastic cups, which is not a great way to serve beer, but I suppose it does provide a pit of a picnic atmosphere. The menu is mostly bar food: appetizers, sandwiches and burgers. The burgers here are very good! Hand pressed burgers, cooked to order. No fast food here. I ordered the house special Motley Burger. Pulled pork on a burger... genius! Seriously. At the risk of offending my Catholic, Muslim and vegan friends in one fell swoop, I think the folks at Bertie's have stumbled on the immaculate concept of burgerdom. The burger is quite nice by itself. How to make it better? Hmmm... let's pile some pork on it. Oh yeah. You gotta try this one. Amazing! If you are local you must go here - even if you aren't. This was our 2nd time here and it did not disappoint. The family that bought this place less than 1 year ago is amazing. They are friendly and always improving the atmosphere, menu and band choices. The female owner greeted us and actually remembered serving us the first time we went. We were served by Ben tonight and even with a packed restaurant he didn't skip a beat - we didn't wait for refills or any of our request. My only regret is I didn't take any pictures. We started with a Dutch platter which was fresh and delicious - mixture of ring bologna, cheese, pickles and crackers. My husband then had a kielbasa cheesesteak - which the son smokes himself daily.....he said it was amazing. I had a Greek pita - it was delicious and packed to the brim. Overall great experience and I cannot wait to go back. Way to go New Bertie's 's Inn - thank you for keeping it local, better yet - thanks for keeping it good! read more

Love the burgers, love the outdoor bar!! The huge rectangular bar offers TVs and plenty of good people watching. The servers are young but really competent so you're never left waiting for long. If you don't want to sit at the bar, there are plenty of tables with room for big groups. You can order a dutch platter appetizer even though it's not on the menu. On nights when there's been live music on the deck, it's been pretty good. Yes, it can get smokey, but it's not that bad (and that's coming from someone who's pretty sensitive to smoke). read more

Bertie's is a hidden gem in the ever lacking Berks country restaurants with a nice, family friendly outside deck for food and drinks in the summer. The burgers are great, and so are the fries. Cold beer in plastic cups. Classic summer place. My complaints stem from the atmosphere and the service. This place could be so lucrative, it's not even funny. Maybe even double or triple what they do now. This place is poorly managed. They need more of a waitstaff, sometimes to even get a beer and drink takes longer than should. Also, rarely have live music. Music definitely needs to be pumped in the background, nothing crazy loud, but it's needed on a summer night. They have a jukebox you can pay to play but the volume is unhearable. More music= more attention from customers= which mean they ultimately stay longer and drink more. Such a shame, love the food here but they need management help! read more

First timer and opted for the deck. If plastic drink cups, paper plates, somewhat over rated burgers and a no credit card policy is for you, Bertie's will be a favorite (or maybe not). The handy Bertie's indoor ATM rescued me but only after $5 in service charges from Bertie's and the bank. Waitress indicated it was printed on the cover of the menu but when is the last time you read the cover of the menu? Burger meat was probably cold when it was cooked giving it a tough exterior. The burger was what it claimed to be and that is why I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was that of Cheers where everyone knows everyone. The review would have been better if not for two things. Show up early if you want a seat. It can get very crowded. My only negative is that they allow smoking on the deck. Since this restaurant was voted to have the best burgers in berks we decided to try it. Outdoor seating was ok if you don't mind people smoking around you. If they offer seating inside that is news to us since we were only offered outdoor seating even though strong thunderstorms were in the area. Drinks were in small plastic cups and food was brought out on paper plates with limited napkins and no utensils. Burgers were not cooked to order. Very small portions of fries for an additional charge. Probably not going back. read more
