These guys are our bike heroes! Saved our butts three days in a row. First day they replaced a broken bike seat, on the spot, at a reasonable price. Second day, Tyler (the head guy) checked and adjusted the seat of our other bike, no charge, plus rented e-bikes to our two friend. Third day Tyler had a flat tire on the other bike fixed in less than half an hour, again at a reasonable charge. Tyler is no big talker, but he gets things done when you need them. I had recently and incorrectly changed my chain and it came apart during a ride. Fortunately I was near Brewster Bike and was able to roll there. They were pretty busy, but the guy grabbed a quick link and popped it on... no charge. The whole thing didn't even take 5 minutes before I was on my way. This is an awesome bike rental place, it's so conveniently located right off the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The price for rental for 4 hours was about $20 I think. Either way it's affordable. The workers were very helpful, they'll give you an estimate time of your destination to help you keep track of rental times. The rental place closes around 5ish and informed us that if we were to return late which we did, we just had to lock up the bikes and put the key in the drop box and be on your way with no extra charge. The rental is located around the 82 mile mark off the CCRT that leads into a dirt road. Their parking lot fits about 10 cars on dirt road and they have a porta - potty on the lot. They offer multiple bikes from 1 speed or more, they supply locks. They offer helmets and baskets if needed. read more

Came here to rent some bikes for the afternoon. They were very helpful and had great TREK bikes for us to use. There is a nice bike trail built over an old railway and there were many people out enjoying the sunshine. It was a little cool butt it made for a good ride. We biked up to Orleans to have lunch and back, which took us about 4 hours. The rental rate was $14 for 2 hours and $20 for 4 hours. read more

I've been to this shop twice this year. Once was in the spring to get my bike up and running as it had been in the shed all winter. When I came in there were two teenagers, both eating, neither engaged me until I asked for some assistance. They seemed stoned and instead of doing anything to help me, look at my bike, or try to understand what I needed, they just told me there was a pump outside. They had no interest in helping me. Once I went to the pump I realized I needed an adaptor for my tires, which one of them said "is over there somewhere". I found it myself and went along my way, unimpressed.... Today I went back there because my wife was about to buy a bike and I was going to pick it up and transport it home. I pulled into their "15 Min Only" spot and an older employee runs out and yells at me that I cannot park there. I tried to explain I was just picking up a bike and she got severely angry and started waving me off and yelling at me. I've lived in the Cape for 20+ years and have been a customer at many of the local bike shops and never, ever have I had such a poor experience. After these two experiences I will never go to this bike shop again. read more

When in the course of biking events, you need to find a bike repair shop, one can only hope you are near Brewster Bike. Nine miles away from where we began our outing along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, the derailer on my 22+ year old Ross Touring bike decided to blow apart. About two miles in the other direction I found the guys at Brewster Bike - right off the trail. They were able to replace the broken part at a reasonable price and had me back in the trail in about 1/2 an hour. Had a good time chatting with who I assume was the owner about the good old days, biking in the 90s. Funny, easy going, and by no means a rip-off. Great place. I'd go back just to get some gear next time I'm on the trail. read more

We rented bikes here last week for a day trip on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The folks at Brewster Bike were very helpful, in terms of renting the bikes and giving us directions. We rented multi-speed bikes for about $20 for four hours, but they do daily and weekly rentals as well. All rentals come with free helmets and locks, which came in handy when we stopped for lunch in Chatham. The woman at the store was very flexible on time - we paid for 4 hours but she told us if we came back later than we originally said, they could just bill us the difference. It was nice not to have to rush back to be on time. There is parking in the back of the rental area, and there is a short path that leads right down to the rail trail from the parking lot. We opted to bike back towards Harwich and then down to Chatham. Total distance of about 30 miles round trip and a very pleasant cool, wooded ride for most of the trip, and a fun, scenic ride and walk around Chatham. I would recommend Brewster Bike to anyone looking to rent bikes and experience the Rail Trail. read more

We've been a fan of Brewster Bike for over twenty years from when we rented alley cats for our kids to now. Stopped in around 2pm on a Sunday to have them fix a flat and replace an old tire for a week of biking ahead. Couldn't have been more accommodating. Picked up the bike less than 2 hours later - tires were great but I suspect they also gave the bike a minor tune-up to boot. Running like new with those annoying squeaks and assorted noises gone. This is the place to rent your bike on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. We wanted 2 bikes for a week. Couldn't have been easier. Professional people, charging reasonable rates for good bikes. Can't ask for much more than that, right? But they offered more. When I asked to have them pick up our bikes after 5 from our rental house, the employee said that she'd drive by after work so we could get in a late afternoon ride. Didn't turn out that we needed it, but boy, was it nice to hear that someone was willing to go the extra mile for us. Can't recommend them more highly. Easy 5 stars. read more

Don't use this bike shop! Very bad experience with bike repair at Brewster bike store today. They could not repair my sons front brake after leaving it at their shop for 24 hours, when I picked it up it was in worse shape and instead of an apology, I was berated by the owner and told to "get off my property!" Save yourself the headache and find another store. read more

We rented bikes for ourselves and our college aged children. The staff was helpful, friendly and chill. The shop has great parking (on the rail trail), a clean port a potty and was easy to find. Helmets and locks were included with our rental which made for a very reasonable four hours of exploring the rail trail. read more

We found a place down the road through local tourist mags. The staff there was not very helpful explaining rental rates and policies. We had passed this place on the way and thought we'd see how they were. They were very helpful. Let my (tall!) partner try a few bicycles until he found one that fit. They were going to close before our rental time was up, so arranged for us to leave bikes locked on a rack. The bicycles were well-suited to the rail-to-trail course we were on (not our own bikes, but fine for the day), and had been well maintained. Odd to have two bike shops this close. Brewster didn't seem to be all "woo hoo, we're competitors" - they just did their thing: low-key, competent, courteous service. We were glad we supported this business. read more

Rented bikes with my daughter today. $14 for 2 hours (each). Her bike was fine for her. But the one they offered me was ill fitted and poorly tuned. The shop guy had little interest in fitting it to me. The frame was probably too small for me, and I had told him I ride a 54 cm road bike. But worse was that the front dérailleur was either out of alignment or the cable had been stretched (or both). So it was impossible to shift the chain to the largest chain ring. It would shift over and then immediately flop back to the middle chain ring. As to the rear dérailleur, it also wouldn't shift to all gears on the back because the chain was old. And it made a racket with the front dérailleur in most gears. I get that most people who rent bikes don't know much about them, and might not even care to shift much or at all. I also get that quick turnover is how they make money, not tuning rental bikes. But no self-respecting bike shop should ever rent a bike so poorly tuned. Stay away from these guys. read more
