This review is far to long over due. I've been meaning to write it but frankly I've been busy (lazy). In short, Brian was fantastic in every single aspect. I highly, highly recommend him. For a more detailed review, see below: My girlfriend and I had been shopping the traditional jewelry stores (Arthurs, Knox etc) for an engagement ring so that when I finally popped the question I would have an idea of what she would like. We found many great designs but nothing that knocked her socks off, and we also wanted something truly one of a kind. So, I began searching for someone other than a big store to custom make it. Luckily for me I found Brian by just a simple google search. After checking reviews and other establishments I decided to make contact with the Ringmaker. During our initial conversation he had asked for ideas of what she would like and within a few days I had about seven different sketches of possibilities. (It is worth noting that he was very reluctant about e-mailing me his design sketches as he is worried about people taking his designs and going elsewhere. I totally understand this, especially after seeing his work. However, I live nearly two hours from his shop so it was hard for me to just drop in. He relented and e-mailed the sketches for which I was grateful.) After I saw his sketches, I was blown away. How on earth would I ever design something that is perfect for my fiance?! The sketches were beautiful and I felt as if I were back at square one due to the unlimited options, even with the specifications I had requested. I consulted with Brian about this and we decided that I would purchase the diamond (which is remarkable) and he would set it in a temporary setting. I then proposed, she said yes, and my fiance and I began a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful journey designing her perfect ring from scratch together with Brian. When he says he is the Ring Whisperer he's not kidding. Although he was willing to create literally anything we wanted he had a few extremely helpful hints, tips and ideas. Some of which even veered from our "base" idea but they made perfect sense after talking it through. My fiance and I met with him together and bounced ideas back and fourth. He sent a few more sketches and we ended up combining a few of his ideas, a few or our ideas and ended up with a ring truly remarkable and breath taking. When it came time to pick up the finished product we brought her temporary ring in, went and had a drink at the Irish pub nearby, and within an hour he had the diamond I had proposed with set in the finished ring. Cost wise he certainly isn't cheap, yet he is extremely fair. For a truly one of a kind masterpiece I believe you get what you pay for and Brian is a true artist. It was worth every single penny. Brian exceeded expectations! I was searching for an everyday ring for my right hand. I wanted something unique. I had glanced in enough jewelry cases to know that unique at a reasonable price point was not likely. Then I met Brian. I lack the perfect word to describe the experience of having Brian design something for me. It was a first for me to receive such upscale treatment. He interviewed me to truly understand my color preferences, my interests and to get a sense of my personality. He took that information and within a week was ready to share his designs. Next he conducted a presentation. He revealed one by one a series of designs and with each new design the ring on paper became progressively more edgy and fun. I think he was as excited as I was to see which design would grab me. There were over 15 designs and I chose the last design. Next step, he made the ring and chose the stones which all fit with the information and impression he gleaned from the interview and design selection. All of this was achieved for roughly $3000. I brought in my wedding/engagement ring set to be soldered as it had thinned over the years and broke. Brian was very honest and helpful, saying that he could fix it but I really should look at getting the whole thing reset eventually as the diamonds were loose and the rings were not aligned. I appreciated his candor and the fact that he gave me a loop to show me the weaknesses in the 20 year old rings. . he was right. What surprised me is that his soldering work only cost $100 and was completed within 24 hours! Another jeweler in Minnetonka had initially estimated the work to cost $500 and then called back to say it would cost $700. Brian was helpful, quick, reasonable and friendly. I recently worked with Brian on an eternity ring for my wife in conjunction with our 25th wedding anniversary. Brian is a very easy going low key/low pressure type of guy, unlike many folks you encounter in some jewelry stores. I met with him several times in designing the ring to give him an idea of what I was looking for, and he produced a number of drawings for me to consider before we finalized the design of the ring. My wife loves her new ring. It fits perfectly and matches up very nicely with her wedding band. Brian came in on budget and on time and was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. I had a wonderful experience using Brian for my 10 year Anniversary ring. I visited a lot of stores and met with a few independent jewelers. At all of the stores I felt their true passion was how much money they would be making. With Brian I felt he truly cared about how much I was going to love the piece he created. I brought in a design that I liked. I saw the design in person at the jewelry store and was disappointed by the cost and quality. I brought in a picture to Brian and we made several modifications. Brian did an excellent job of reducing the size of two of my rings. They now fit perfectly and look better than ever after he cleaned and polished them. Also, I had called a few jewelers in the area and they wanted me to drop off my rings and pick them up in a week. My rings are one-of-a-kind and worth a lot of money, so I wasn't comfortable leaving them. I called Brian and he set up an appointment to meet with me the next morning, and I was able to watch him do the work and got my rings back on the spot. After 18 years the prongs on my platinum wedding ring twisted. Brian was gracious enough to fix it for free even though he wasn't the original ringmaker. After a few fixes we decided the metal on the original ring was too brittle and needed to be replaced. Brian shared a few design options based on my previous setting and considering my lifestyle for resetting my diamond. He is so knowledgeable about metals, settings, the entire process. Brian is an amazing artist and we are so pleased with the new wedding ring he recently created for me. I brought in my original engagement/wedding ring, and well as a second diamond ring, and asked Brian to create a new sapphire wedding ring for me that incorporated my original engagement diamond and some of the other smaller diamonds from the 2 rings. I spent a good 20-30 minutes with Brian as he helped me figure out why my center engagement ring stone was loose. It was purchased somewhere else, and Brian tactfully and respectfully explained the problem to me. He did a temporary fix (per my request), and I will return for a permanent fix in the near future.
