We were driving from NC back to Maryland, and it was almost lunchtime. We got off the highway after seeing a sign for a chicken fast food restaurant, but it said 4 miles away. We drove and drove but never found it. So we pulled into a little strip mall shopping center where there was a pizza place, an oyster bar, and Brian's Cheesesteaks. We decided to check out Brian's. The place is clearly a favorite with the locals. All the tables were full. There was no hostess, so you seat yourself. We headed for the counter and claimed two stools. They have quite a menu and it is a retro diner-style place. The server was really pleasant. We asked for two unsweet teas (clearly revealing ourselves as non-locals). The tea came out sweet anyway, but that was the only hiccup. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with onion rings, and my friend did order a full cheesesteak (you can also order a half). Everything was delicious. The serving of onion rings was huge. The price for my huge chicken sandwich was only $6.50. They offered us free ice cream at the end, but we were too stuffed. So, the moral of the story is that it is WELL worth a short side trip to get off the interstate to eat at a local place that is NOT a fast food franchise.

I'm going to start this with the good. My friend and myself went to Brian's because she knows my picks are 8 out 10 good eats. This experience was one of the worse, from the food to the overall experience. The Latin gentleman I didn't get his name was friendly and a delight to watch make several Phillies without breaking a sweat. He is the reason I gave them a star. It was the early dinner rush hour. As we sat at the counter waiting an hr for four hot dogs onion rings and things. I noticed the hot dogs sitting in the back of the heat lamp for the fries. As the orders begin to be made the manager in the yellow hat drops fresh hot dogs. I noticed that when he called out my order for my hotdogs he grabs the hot dogs that had been sitting up there prior to us arriving and we waited an hr for food. So yeah by the time he grabbed the hotdogs I head to the front counter. BTW I never get condiments so I knew it was my order. I told the lady I'd like to get a refund for my order. I was being nice and not stating the reason. She then told me I couldn't get a refund just because. So I informed her of what I saw and how I didn't want the cold hotdogs coming my way. She got loud and told me he would never do anything like that. And I wasn't getting a refund. Despite what I had just watched. So I opened the bag to show her and my guest the cold hotdogs I knew were going to be in the bag. I took them to her told her to feel them l. She realized she was wrong and I had been honest with my story. I never wanted to make a scene just didn't want cold hotdogs. I picked this place for the ratings not the attitude I was given today. So I'd highly advise placing an order and picking it up if you are still wanting to try this spot. I'm so glad my friends and their grandparents came to see a glimpse of why it's hard for me to go out and get a decent meal in some places. I never wanted to make a scene didn't even want a remake. I just wanted a refund because I waited an hr for two hotdogs. There was no way I was going to eat cold hotdogs. I can admit when I'm wrong I just wanted fresh food from a place that looked like a good spot. I'm ok with finding another restaurant when I come visit my nephew at college. This one isn't it I don't fit in and the service I received it spoke volumes to it. Again I picked this place because of the ratings I wanted to eat here. Just order your food over the phone to justify it being cold at pick up. I'm sure it's a decent spot I'll never know. All it takes is one time for me and I'll find somewhere else to eat. Customers are people and with an open kitchen you never know who's watching. So just make it easy and make everyone's food the way you'd want yours. With a bit of tlc.

I've been here numerous times for the best cheesesteak but today I wanted a cheeseburger. I got a double all the way and a Brian's dog. GAHT! It was good. Now I'm not gonna sit here and say it's the best cheeseburger I've ever had or the juiciest or most flavorful but it was pretty dang good. Again impressed with the staff and the food!

The food is always on point. Always go for either the fully loaded cheesesteak or the cheese burger. Excellent customer service.

This restaurant is in a strip shopping center and in the area of local hotels. We were seated near the bar which was a nice booth with raised barriers between tables which made conversation easy. Our server Kaydi quickly came over to offer drinks, an energetic tone, a positive smile, and the refreshing Southern "yes ma'am/sir." I got the Blues Brothers Burger with sweet potato fries, a very tasty lunch, and filling. We were offered to-go drinks, a cordial touch. Pricing averaged about $25 per person, a very reasonable price for the value delivered. Overall, we will certainly be back the next time we're driving along the east coast. I hope we're lucky enough to meet Kaydi again, as she's an asset to this establishment.

I originally didn't think I'd finish this salad but it was really fresh and delicious. Very low carb meal. Next time I might try chicken instead of burgers. Husband had the Rocky Balboa burger and a side salad instead of fries. He was a little disappointed in the small size of the burger but it was otherwise good (cooked medium well but not dry) and the salad was fresh. Service was friendly but server had a little trouble remembering if they had Guinness. I would expect the servers to have this information ready as they serve primarily burgers and BEER, ya know. It was an early Fri nt dinner for us so not crowded or busy yet. Noise level was moderate and we could still talk without raising our voices.

This is your typical independent roadside joint that was popular back in the 1950's but have now managed to die out in most parts of the country. There is ample parking out front, and the area you order from (pictured) is inside a set of double doors. There are places to sit, including a cool old school rocking chair, while you wait for your food to come out. All items are made to order here, so you will have to wait a bit but it is worth the wait. For breakfast my favorite is the wagon train sandwich. This is double bacon, fried egg, and pimento spread on a Kaiser roll. Killer flavor combo and be sure to get a side order of hash browns extra crispy to go along with it. The homemade biscuits here are similarly a must try. This place closes at 2 each day, so keep this in mind if you are after some lunch. The Big Ben burger is essentially a homemade bacon double cheese burger topped with their house made chili. Yum. It's a winner. They also have daily specials which you will find on a dry erase board inside where you order. This is mainly a take out joint, but they have an outdoor picnic area which makes for a great place to post up on nice days. Staff is super friendly and prices are cheap. I am sure I will be back next time I am in town.

For desserts, we enjoyed the bread pudding and peach cobbler. Would have given this place a 4/5 for food but service was really bad. Food took a long time to be served. This we understood because it was really a busy day. Because the cloth napkins smelled like rancid oil, we just asked for paper napkins. This took ~30 minutes before we got some. We also asked for some condiment. Since no one was checking on our table, we had to stand up and approach one of the staff to follow up on this, not once but twice but some vinegar never came. Though our server Gracie acknowledged and apologized for the bad service, service was still crappy and disappointing.
