Came on a bust Saturday Evening - staff was super friendly and ambiance was inviting. Fried pickle sticks came out popping out and tasty. The French dip sandwich was hot and fresh. The side of mac and cheese bites were a prefect combo. The smothered chicken platter was disappointing... chicken was over cooked and tough ... the canned mushrooms were ice cold and the cheese appeared almost burnt. I didn't care for the greasy chips and store bought salsa(try the potato skins instead. Beer was cold. Highly recommend outside seating. I ordered the chicken sandwich. The meat was pre-cooked and reheated, and not reheated much, at that. The meat was room temperature and rubbery, and the cheese was not even softened. The "fries" were baked, cold, and limp. If I wanted reheated leftovers, I would have stayed home. read more

Great dinner spot with a laid back and chill atmosphere! I especially loved that they have draft drink specials during the week! All apps are fresh and hot out of the kitchen- I would recommend the wings and shrimp jammers. These wings are DIVINE- perfectly cooked, crispy and a good size. I chose this restaurant for dinner while visiting family in NC because it is one of only a very few that are dog friendly. I arrived at 5:30 on a weeknight and there were some tables still available out front. When I entered to request one, it was very busy inside and staff seemed overwhelmed and not very friendly. I waited a few minutes at the front where there were 4 employees and when one finally acknowledged me she simply said "You here for a pick up?". I explained I wanted a table outside and she told me to sit down and someone would be out when they could. I was able to snag a table for the 6 of us and our dog, but I got lucky because soon after, all the tables filled up fast. I would recommend arriving before 6 p.m. to ensure a seat. When all the family arrived, our server Blair came out and to my relief, she was much nicer than the other staff I had dealt with. She was patient and sweet and when my niece ordered "lots of pickles" with her burger, Blair delivered! Even though she told us she was handling a "very large" table inside she made sure we got drink refills when needed. I actually felt bad for her because she looked visibly exhausted by the time we left. I would absolutely recommend this place with a few caveats: -This place is busy! -Don't expect a warm greeting. -Be ready to wait a long time for your food to come out (at one point, I thought they had forgotten about us, but on the bright side it did give us time to catch up and chat.) -Lastly (and maybe everyone in NC already knows this, but I am from CA and definitely did not) I didn't notice until we got back to our hotel, but there was a "Cash total due" in very large font on our check and a "Non-cash total" in much smaller font beneath it. I instinctively handed the waitress my card and was charged about 4% more without knowing. Personally, it seems predatory ad antiquated that a business charge you for using a credit card. Busy places like this, in my opinion, should not want to have that much cash on hand...it could be dangerous. All that being said, there were plenty of food options and everyone was able to find something they really liked for dinner. The weather was nice and the patio area was filled with lots of children and other dogs. We were able to enjoy a lovely meal together and had lots of time to catch up. The prices were reasonable (even with silly fees) so taking everyone to dinner did not break the bank. Overall, I would go back and eat on the patio again, never step foot inside, and definitely bring cash. read more

I went for lunch with a friend and sat outside. The food was very good. This is a very popular spot and full, so the service was adequate but not great. Maybe it's because they were busy, but we didn't get the attention a good server would give. However, the thing that was the most upsetting was the smoking. Not by the customers, but by the staff that was taking a smoking break. It started with one lady, then two guys that joined her right outside the restaurant door. They sat at the bench right next to the door and lit up. That bench is no more than 3 feet away from the chairs setup outside where the customers sit. It was bad enough when one started smoking, but 3 is outrageous. The stench of smoke was everywhere, and even the large fan they have outside did not dissipate the smell. My friend had to use an inhaler twice due to asthma. No one else from the staff said anything to them so it makes me think they must be the owners or management. Fantastic find on a road trip from FL to MD! Decided to stay in Rocky Mount off 95 overnight with our dog and looked on Yelp for a local place with outside seating so we could bring our 9mo old puppy after our 10 1/2 hour ride. This place was fantastic. Local, friendly, casual, southern hospitality at its best. Lots of outdoor tables. Great food options. I loved the Chicken with Reaper sauce and my husband loved the big bacon and cheese with Texas toast. Mozzarella sticks and Mac and cheese bites sides were yummy too. Service was wonderful. We are not locals, but we're staying at a hotel down the road. Just happened to drive by and saw lots of cars parked outside and thought we would give it a try - best decision! Interesting little local bar restaurant located in the strip plaza with Harris Teeter. What makes this Southern bar fun are the people...especially the bar tender. Very sweet gal. Our first time in this town as we were passing through during our travels. Totally dependent on "Trip Advisor" to find a dinner spot. Our first pick was too crowded and found this Grill instead. Atmosphere is simple with the bar on one side with high top tables and standard restaurant tables on the divided other side. No frills basic tables and decor. Our high top table was slightly wobbly. Lots of TVs. Several smokers outside the front door...yuck. We ordered drinks. Very tiny martini but it was excellent. Never saw such a small martini glass. Menu had some great choices and burgers looked great on other tables. We opted for the dinner specials of the night (not on the menu). Hubby enjoyed his two Maryland crab cakes. (I have seen better...in Maryland, lol). We were told they prepare them in house. At least he enjoyed. His side of fruit came from a can. My salmon was just okay. It was dry on the ends but the middle was more moist and was better. Coleslaw was drowning in mayo sauce. My biggest disappointment were the sweet potato waffle fries. They were burnt and dried out. I probably should have sent them back bc I got the feeling they may have been re-fried to heat them up.
