Head inside for delicious cheese!
Rachel E.

Delicious cheese tucked off the beaten path. Drive up the gravel road and you'll be greeted by the tiny cheese tasting room with a friendly associate offering several types of chevre and a few wine soaked hard cheeses. All delicious. You just can't beat fresh creamy cheese! You can find the cheeses at some of the local stores in case the tasting room is closed. Although it seemed like the tasting room offered a few specials. The associate specifically pointed out the creamy chevre truffle. I looked on the website but unfortunately they don't have a retail outlet in Houston :-( Can you guys get in contact with the Houston Dairymaids please?! K thanks!

I stopped into The Good Company Cheese Bar & Bistro in downtown Newberg just for a quick look…read morearound, but ended up leaving with some local honey and a great conversation with the owner. This little shop is absolutely adorable and full of charm. Most of their products are locally sourced, and you can feel the care that goes into the selection. The cheese and condiment options were phenomenal, truly one of the best curated selections I've seen in the area. They also have a cute wine bar tucked in the back, which adds to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The sandwiches and deli items in the case looked so good that I'm already planning to come back for lunch next time I'm in town. Everything looked fresh, high quality, and thoughtfully put together. The staff was friendly, kind, and clearly passionate about what they do. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the products. A wonderful little spot with great people and even better cheese, I'll definitely be back to enjoy "good company" in every sense of the name!

We ordered 2 craft cocktails off their well rounded cocktail menu. I love floral cocktails so I ordered a Rose Negroni $12 and my husband ordered a bourbon cocktail Lindsey's Lament $13. We loved them! For lunch we ordered pimento dip with crackers a SALUMI SANDWICH $14 fennel salami, Fra'Mani mortadella and capicollo. provolone, Mama Lil's peppers, & basil pesto on sourdough bread and a BRIE, HAM, 8 JAM SANDWICH $14 with double crème Brie, Oregon apricot jam, and Fra'Mani sweet apple ham on sour dough bread. Both sandwiches were fresh and delicious. Since we were the only customers on this quiet afternoon, we sat for a while enjoying our cocktails and sandwiches planning our next visit.

We were last here four years ago. It hasn't changed much and that's a good thing. Last time, we…read morewere unable to go into the candy store - this time, we did get to go inside and peruse the collection of candy, vintage and branded (ie. related to a TV show). Some stuffed animals as well and some hair clips and whatnot. You can also purchase food in there to feed the animals outside (I'm sure it is not the only place to purchase food but that's where we got it this time). Inside the main building are many different kinds of high end gifts, kitchen items, wine, and food, as well as a cafe and ice cream. Outside are the animals (who tbh can really live without the food lol - they are fairly lacksadaisical about it!); and the area where Harvest Host folks park. The friendliest animals are the goats.

As the Tillamook Creamery began to fill-up with kiddos, I decided to head south to the Blue Heron…read moreFrench Cheese Company for a bite to eat. What a fabulously wonderful, relaxing restaurant / garden / petting zoo and gift-shop. The grounds are abound with potted plants and flowers. I entered what can best be described as a large, deli-gift-shop. Ordering takes place at the deli counter, a number is given, and food is delivered to your table. There is a fountain area, a coffee bar and a refrigerated cooler for drinks. The wine section is expansive and beautifully displayed. I can't speak to the quality, as I didn't partake in adult beverages. The shop is comprehensive with loads of deli-like merchandise, boutique items and souvenirs. They offer a lot of hand-crafted and locally-made fare, which is my preference. The food was outstanding! I order the cheese charcuterie with salami and my husband ordered the Blue Heron Classic. What a delight, and with plenty of left-overs. It was such a gorgeous day I visited the Candy Shop for an ice cream cone (Tillamook, of course) and walked the grounds for peacock viewing. The Blue Heron has picnic tables outside, so I sat and enjoyed the sun for a while. It was an ideal escape!

Very good soft serve. I was happy…read more Nice luxurious, creamy taste and texture. Chocolate ganache had a nice intensity to it, sorta dark, a little salty. Perhaps could have used a bit more of it. And for $4, great deal. Sandwich was pretty good but not something I'd go out of my way for. The brie was mild. Marionberry jam was ok. Nice mix of sweet and tart. Decent bread.

The cheese and crack sundae has toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and cinnamon cracker crumbs. Omg the cinnamon crumbs are so good, that with the ice cream was really yummy (I'm a simple girl what can I say). The chocolate hardened into a chocolate shell and it was kind of only on the bottom of the cup so that was a little disappointing. The toasted marshmallow didn't add much, but maybe I'm biased bc I don't rlly care for toasted marshmallow ‍ Overall, the entire sundae is mainly a ton of vanilla ice cream. It's a big portion that I shared with someone else. Second time I went, I got the banana pudding sundae which was soooo good. I shared this with my friend and it was plenty. They give a good amount of banana pudding and you can tell it's quality. I saw bananas, the bread/wafer part, and it pairs nicely with the ice cream. Prob my favorite thing from this place. My other friend got the pbo which was also good. They layer oreo and peanut butter pudding so you get it all throughout the sundae which is nice. She also got an everything cookie which has literally everything in it. It was texturally interesting and not too sweet! Overall, good flavors and quality ice cream. The portions are a bit big and I wish they had half or even quarter sizes since these came in huge cups. At a certain point, the vanilla ice cream becomes flavorless bc there's so much of it but the sundaes were still pretty good!
