This place is HEAVEN if you love everything seafood: fish, shellfish (shrimp, claws & legs - even frog's legs), smoked, and specialties like lamb (shanks, ground, sausage, chops), beef, pork, bison, chicken, and much much, more. There's a "Today's Inventory" list on their website so you can check everyday to see what they've got before you go or order online to pick up We have always stopped in for the fresh oysters ($13-$17 a dozen). The "Kumies" (Kumamoto Oysters) are my very favorite and I can eat them raw by the dozens! They are fruity, sweet, have a melon-scented flavor and a light brininess I just can't get enough of. They come from Washington State and are available year round. My husband loves smoked fish and we've gotten the smoked Sockeye ($10 for a 4 oz package), both the natural and cajun flavors. The Scottish lox is pretty good too ($7.99 for a 4 oz package). Everyone is friendly and very accommodating, especially during COVID. We usually call in our order, pay over the phone and call from the car when we get there and someone hands our order out the door so we don't have to go in, especially if there's a line at the counter. If you order at the counter, everything is weighed out, bagged, and put on ice right in front of you, so you know exactly what you are getting. There's a little deli-like store right when you enter with a nice selection of bread/baguettes, local cheeses, crackers, wines, jams, olive oils, vinegars, mustards, poke, calamari salad, and fresh pasta. Super convenient for a last minute picnic. We bought a couple oyster knives while there one day and some of the best croutons I've ever had. Outside, on the front of the building are the greatest metal fish decorations I've been meaning to buy for years. Next time for sure. I stumbled on this place in March 2012 shortly after doing an online search for a fish market, not expecting much. Then appears this glorious 5 star shop on Yelp. I immediately went in to investigate. When you walk in it feels like you might be doing something illegal or perhaps like you may have entered a medical dispensary. It is very clean to the point of being sterile, as in I would east sushi off the floor here without qualm. There is a huge dry erase board with what's available, fresh or frozen, country of origin and the price. You order through a little window, and thankfully they recently started taking cards. I pre ordered a live lobster, I was thrilled when I was able to use the lobster to prepare an item on my 30 before 30 list, making lobster rolls served on brioche bread all made from scratch. I cooked for an accomplished chef friend (I shook the whole time I was cooking) the main dish was baked salmon stuffed with crab and topped with hollandaise, it was a hit. Usually I just wander in to grab something to stir into risotto. I have heard that this shop is where many of the local restaurants will buy fish, it is also a popular spot among my foodie friends. This place is such a gem. I live in Sherwood so this is just a fantastic spot to have nearby! We looove seafood. We've never gotten anything bad here. Our most frequent purchases include mussels, clams, scallops, and halibut. Fresh and delicious every single time, and prices are totally fair. We feel spoiled now and probably won't purchase seafood from grocery stores ever again! Even the high end grocers don't carry seafood this fresh, in my opinion. It's fun looking around at their other retail items while you wait for your turn to order. I love this place and have been coming here for over a year now, since I first transitioned into a pescatarian diet after over 15 years of being a vegetarian for health reasons. It was really important to me that I do my best to eat seafood in as sustainable a way as I could, and I'm so grateful that Northwest Fresh was in my area to help with that. I was really surprised, then, when I went in today to see that their employees were openly defying the mask mandate. When I asked one, he said that the manager told them they could since technically the behind the counter space was not "public space." This seems...obviously insane to me, given that we're at record breaking hospitalization levels right now in the pandemic, and that's just not how, you know, air works. The best part about living in the boondocks is being so close to Northwest Seafood. I drive past the little shop daily, nestled inside an unassuming commercial block between an old train depot and modest residences. The atmosphere is at the same time cozy and inviting, touched with deliberate class that somehow manages to not come across in any way pretentious. My wife and I had a great day at Spirit Mountain Casino and decided to treat ourselves to cooking a 'Crab and Clam Pot' for the night. It is a very unassuming place and I almost felt like it was for commercial sales only. We went in and were drawn immediately to the dry erase menu board and we were off to the races. We built our steamer pot with a good variety of basic and fancy shellfish. The price was very, if not extremely reasonable. The staff was helpful and answered all of our questions.
