Well, this is a tough one for me. I've been coming to this place my entire life. It's a bit sentimental. But there comes a time when emotions have to be put on the back burner and reality kick in. There's a lot of good about Brick Oven. I think there Pizza is generally very good, 4 out of 5. No complaints there. I don't get pasta, so I can't rate it. Salad...oh, the salad. It has taken a nose dive recently I feel. The selection of veggies just doesn't cut it for me. Not to mention, the whole baby carrots and the like are totally annoying on a salad. They ought to be shredded, like cheese. The overall taste is just blah. Now, having said that, I do believe they have the BEST ranch I've tasted anywhere. So that's why it's hard. Wish they could up the ante on the actual salad bar to suit such a fabulous dressing. The garlic bread and garlic cheese bread are great. Went for the first time. Won't be returning. Had 1/4 piece of the Italian calzone and a 1/4 piece of the lasagna, a small side salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The calzone had zero flavor and little meat in it. The lasagna was similar. All noodle and sauce and little filling. Salad was ok. The worst part of the meal was that it made me really sick. So I ended up with food poisoning. Service was terrible. The outside of the building looked nice. The inside had a bad smell and the covers on the chairs were ripped and worn. We wanted to find some pizza and pasta, we were not disappointed! It's a very relaxed, family friendly restaurant. We've never eaten here as we're from Oregon and our friends are from Idaho. All 4 of us thought our meals were delicious. 3 of us did the soup, salad, pasta buffet- yum!! The other ordered pizza- also delicious. tldr; order pizza immediately, tell them to bring your drinks + salad bar plates with the pizza. They still haven't learned their own problems ten years later. The classic issue is the pizza order vs the pasta bar people. Pasta bar gets their (mediocre or worse) food very quickly, while the pizza people sit around waiting for a long time until the (slightly better) food gets there. Then the salad bar people get to wait on the pizza people to eat. So people spend a lot of time watching other people eat. They like to ask you what you want to drink and then come back 20 minutes later and ask you for your food orders. And pizza takes ~20-30 minutes to cook, assuming they don't lose your ticket. In which case you'r waiting an hour. During this, your kids are complaining and want appetizers, which you pay for, and then finally the manager comes out to apologize that they didn't start cooking your pizza yet because they lost your ticket. So they give complimentary salad bar. No one wanted to have room to eat pizza after all, did they? We just wanted to take that stuff home in a box. At this point, should have just cancelled everything and walked out. Because brick oven always fails to get everyone their food at once. So, in case I read my own review before (hope fully never) I end up at this place again, here's my suggestion: 1. Order your pizza immediately. Tell your server to go put in the pizza order and come back. 2. Once your server is back, tell them what drinks / salad plate etc you want. Ask for these to all come at the same time as the pizza 3. They made my order wrong, again, but decided to eat it anyway so I wouldn't have to wait another hour for the food to arrive.... the "Chicken Parmesan" was quite possibly the worst chicken I've had in my life. First and foremost we had the BEST server, Riley, was an absolute gem. He greeted us with so much enthusiasm we felt like family. Not only was he so welcoming and kind the projection of his voice was much appreciated the old and decrepit would definitely appreciate it. This review is based off of their soup and salad bar. I'm not gonna lie, it was extremely disappointing. Nothing was good. In hopes of a good dinner I decided to add on the pasta. More disappointment. My pasta was in a puddle of water. The meat they give with it is 1 meatball or 1 inch of sausage. Most of the sauces were gross. The red sauces were ok. Only things I liked there was the garlic bread and fresh fruit. The atmosphere is nice as well as the servers. But as far as taste, quality, and price it's a no go. I wish I would've gone to pizza pie cafe for half the price for way better pasta and salad. Maybe there pizza is good. Hopefully. read more

I like this place :). The pizza is good! The servers are super friendly and accommodating of what you want/need. They host large groups, sometimes even high school track teams so maybe check it out or call ahead so you can know what you're getting into. In response to concerns about price. I think the price is fair for what you get. It's obviously better than fast food joints, plus you can go in, sit down, and be served... Enjoy yourself. I would always come to eat here with my family specially when my brother used to work here we all loved it So for the past few years I've been telling my husband he need it to try this place, since he's a huge fan of pizza (and this is the closest it gets to the best pizza back in he's home town Toppers pizza in ventura ca. county) but we never had the chance to go... so we finally decided to do it!! and it was a great experience as for my husband's first time they were really nice to him, Alex the waitress she was so fun and awesome! yes it's a little packed, and waiting is of 15 min or a little more because I mean thats how good this place is but is all worth it, my husband was soo pleased and amazed for the awesome service and the quality of the pizza he loved the root beer! and we are defiantly coming back! Awful awful awful! Don't even get me started! There is so much more that they could do to make the food better! Don't tell me everyone in Utah Valley loves greasy food! It really isn't a rite of passage. We are from the East Coast and were in Provo for education week. We have brick oven pizza at home that we love! So we had dinner our last night of education week at brick oven. It was all we could do to get through that pizza! The waiters were plentiful and courteous but there was nothing that could be done about the terrible food. And that really was the reason why we were there to eat dinner. I can't speak for the salad bar. I saw it but we didn't include it with our dinner. That might have been a mistake. Brick Oven Pizza isn't my go-to for pizza or any other dish by any means, but when our office wants to purchase lunch for us and I'm starving, I'm not going to pass up a free lunch. I've had the pizza here on numerous occasions (work ordered us pizza from here on Monday, in fact), but it's never my first choice. I'm not a fan of the cheese used or the crust and seasonings. But again, I'll eat it if that's my only option and I'm not the one paying for it. The salad bar is usually a pretty safe bet if I'm dining in, but we did a delivery order for about twelve people this afternoon. I decided to look into other options than pizza, and finally decided on boneless buffalo wings. I've been craving that dish, and it's pretty hard to screw up chicken and buffalo sauce...except, apparently, it can be done. The buffalo sauce had a great zing to it, but it was super watery. Watery, you ask? Well, instead of tossing the chicken in the buffalo sauce and serving it up with blue cheese dressing for a dipping sauce, it was assemble-your-own, which is kind of hard to do when one is at an office there's nothing to do that with. The blue cheese dressing wasn't any better; it was also super runny and watery. I would not order this again for takeout. Maybe they actually toss it for you if you dine in, I don't know. I also got a side of clam chowder soup. Kind of a weird food combination, but it's what sounded good to me at the time. The soup was just all right. There wasn't much flavor to it, though I did like the texture of the broth. I'd consider selecting it again, but I would have to add salt and pepper to it, and maybe some oregano if available. The garlic bread was easily my favorite thing out of everything I had for lunch today. I've had the cheese garlic bread in the past at another location, and it's delicious. I much prefer that type of cheese combination to what they put on their pizza. Lastly, it's great that they included plastic forks and napkins with our dishes, but it would also be super helpful if knives and spoons are also provided. There were quite a few of us that had soup as a side dish and we had to see if we had any other utensils from past food deliveries and potlucks to help us out. read more

I came here a few days ago and I had the worst service and the food was not good. We waited about 30 minutes for our food and then they brought us the wrong thing, then waited another 30 minutes for our food and it tasted like dish soap. We then waited for our server and they never came, not even sure who the server was because there were different people coming back and fourth, I asked to pay at the front because at this point we had been there for 2 hours. It was a Wednesday evening, it wasn't super busy and it seemed like they had enough staff maybe even too many staff. The manager did speak with us at one point and said our food would be discounted but it wasn't. The Marketplace Buffet is a good deal if you feel like "carbing up" on all you can eat pasta, salad and soup. Some homemade pastas and a variety of sauces for you to choose from. Not sure what the hype is here. It's pizza. Overpriced pizza. It's a crowded place and the options are pretty standard. That being said, it's pizza! Pizza is rarely a bad choice. This is close to campus and a BYU classic. The Root Beer is really why you have to go. Try to wait until your parents are in town or you get a sweet coupon though. I would like this location to rate higher. I came here years ago, and loved it. then it seemed there was a long slow decline and I stopped coming. I recently went back and was surprised and pleased that it had improved a lot in the last few years. They are even in the process of remodeling, or at least working on the decor of the outside. I enjoy the food, salad bar, and pasta. I am pretty sure you are better off coming earlier in the day. It seems the pasta sauces and soups can get ignored as the day goes on, but it is still pretty good. There are really not a lot of Pizza places that I would rank very high for a sit down restaurant. They seem to be more of a take out, or buy it and bring it to a table. the downside, I don't think I have ever been there when it is not wall to wall people. I can't say anything about the service for dining in, but every time I have ordered for pick up, my pizzas have been ready, accurate, and staff was kind. Plus, if your order reaches $25, you get a free 2-liter bottle of their rootbeer. Even though I usually only order for myself, I just eat pizza for the next week and it's worth the ~$25 for one person. The Napoli and the Margarita pizzas are my favorite, and the crust is better than most pizza places around Provo. This place is garbage and is sustained only by nostalgic BYU alumni that return to campus. Don't order the pizza buffet, they come by about twice in a sitting and charge $20 some-odd per person. Also, the salad bar hasn't changed since I was about five years old. They basically dump dole salad bags into bowls and call it good. Before it was called brick oven it was know as Heaps of Pizza. The first time I had there pizza was the fall of 1967. It was without a doubt the best pizza I have ever had. I enjoyed eating there for years. Had eaten there many, many times. Some time about 2009-2010 they changed their fare. It is not even in my top 100 pizza places in the western U.S. The last four or five times I have eaten there I always promise my self not to go back. If you're going for the all-you-can-eat spaghetti or pasta you'd be better off going elsewhere. You'll get a small portion of pasta or noodles with ONE COLD meatball or a single slice of sausage. The meatball was cold because they leave the lid up on the container and have them stacked up out of the heat. The sauces were fine but nothing to brag about. I'm trying to find a reason for more than one star but the only thing I can come up with is the root beer and garlic bread which are great, but you also lose a star there for not having serving actual beer.. thanks BYU! If you happen to like garlic bread that are soft and not at all crunchy, which apparently i'm into, there is your saving grace. My suggestion is to start offering all-you-can-eat garlic bread. I've tried brick oven multiple times; they have good pasta and crappy pizza. The lasagna is really good and so is the fettuccine. Unfortunately the pizza is over seasoned and doughy. The extra seasonings they put in the dough is a great idea but it really detracts from the flavors of the toppings and sauce. The home-made root beer is some of the best I have ever had and is what makes the experience worth it. read more
