I first started going to Brick Oven when I was in college in the '80s. I loved the pasta bar, especially the white clam sauce, and the pizza was very good. When I moved back to Provo after an extended time living near the big city up north, my wife (then just my girlfriend) and I went and the food was still very good. Unfortunately, that seems to have changed. We went one night and my wife got the lasagna, which literally made her sick. The pasta was still good, but no white clam sauce. Also, the salad bar seemed a little lame and the blue cheese dressing was vile. Realizing that you can have a bad night at any given restaurant, we decided to go back again. I don't remember what my wife had, but she said everything tasted like vinegar. The pasta was only OK (still no white clam sauce; must have been the wrong night) and the salad bar was still lame and the blue cheese dressing still vile. End result? Rather than giving additional chances based on memories of great food, we'll be giving Brick Oven a miss. The pizza is still good, but we can get good pizza for less money elsewhere. Sad to say, but the place appears to have gone downhill. read more

Brick-oven is kind of the go-to place for BYU students when you have family in town or you're celebrating something and you don't want to get fast food, but you don't want to spend too much money. And you pretty much get what you pay for. I often ordered a calzone when I went and they weren't bad, but they were never quite as good as I hoped they were going to be. In fact, the only thing I ever had there that really stood out was the root beer, which I believe they make themselves. Honestly I would probably normally give a place like this a two, but they're the closest thing provo has to a restaurant with some historical significance. Its a restaurant that Cougars who are generations apart can reminisce about together. So for that it gets a three. read more

The Pizza in my opinion is the best thing to order here. Its not the best but it's good. The Root Beer is also really good. Service sometimes can be inconsistent. I have to give this place only three stars because I was not super hungry so I just wound up getting soup and a salad which were decent, but this place was really known for their pizza and house made root beer. I came to the Provo Brick Oven upon the request of my Daughter who's birthday it was. I don't often eat here, Mostly for the fact that I feel the pizza is overpriced. The customer service I received was outstanding, our waiter was incredibly nice, up beat, happy and took very good care of us. Our drinks were refilled every time without asking. The big thing that keeps me from coming back is the pizza. They always use fresh ingredients but the quality in no way justifies the price. The soup is quite good, the pasta is really yummy, the salad bar is pretty good and the root beer is fantastic. The garlic bread I received was flavorless. The pizza I received was on the crappy side but they were quick to invite me back in and take care of us. read more

This is about as classic Provo as you can get, and it's a classic for a reason. It's a really big restaurant (lots of rooms or caverns as I call them) and the food is pretty good. Not a lot of windows though so it feels pretty dark inside. It''s definitely a place you should try at least once. read more

Their food use to be really good. Their pizzas are just way over priced for the quality. I always order delivery sometimes their fast sometimes it can take a super long time. I decided to try the lasagna for something different. Huge disappointment. The frozen lasagna that you buy from the store is better. I ordered a delivery catering order. They were almost 10 minutes late. I had ordered a gluten free Spaghetti and Meatball dish and verified with the manager that it was Gluten Free and she said yes. Once she left I realized they left off the Spinach Platter. I called the store and they said they would get one out to us but it would take over 20 minutes. By that time our luncheon would be done so I declined! If they had been on time it probably would have been fine to wait! I also asked the guy on the phone to verify if the Spaghetti and Meatballs were Gluten Free and he said no. AAAA!!! I could have been really sick if I had ate it!! He said he would send one out, however, the luncheon would be over by the time we got the meal. Unfortunately I didn't get to eat lunch. I guess I could have waited and ate after everyone else was gone but the purpose of the luncheon was a celebration. Lack of planning and organization on their part really ruined everything. I love Brick Oven! I live in California and whenever we're in Utah we make it a point to stop and eat here. It's a family friendly environment with great staff and great food. Ate here twice years ago and wasn't impressed, it was just okay. Now we're back in town for vacation and my family and are loving the Brick Oven. I had the Hawaiian pizza with almonds and loved it. It's fine. Get the Romano cheese bread instead of anything else. Five bucks plus tip and kapow! You're eating like tightwad royalty.

I have memories of big events at Brick Oven as a kid and college student, but with a little more experience you realize the food is a below average and the prices are pretty high. The service was so friendly you almost forget that after waiting FOREVER for food they hand you a bill 5 minutes after it arrives. I feel like I need to post a review for Brick Oven since things have changed since last fall. We've been going to Brick Oven since I was six years old to get pizza and pasta at least once a season before a BYU football or basketball game. It was always a great place to go with good service and great food. I don't know what happened but the two visits we made in 2015 were terrible. The service was slow, there were errors with our orders, we got overcharged once and the food wasn't that great. We were in Provo for the BYU Kickoff and athletic sale last week and decided to take a chance on Brick Oven since we heard they had undergone some changes. I don't know if they were sold, or just got a new management team, but the visit was reminiscent of the good ol' days. The place appeared to be remodeled with new decorations and reupholstered booths. It was busy due to education week on campus but we were promptly seated. The server arrived quickly and our food was brought out quickly. It was cooked very well. The garlic bread was crunchy but not overcooked or burnt. The pizzas were piping hot and again, cooked just right. The soup and salad were good as well. The homemade root beer is still fantastic. If you have heard bad things about Brick Oven over the past year I'd recommend you give it another shot since it appears that things have changed. read more

We went here for a baseball team dinner. There was a miscommunication/misunderstanding with our waitress about what pizza we wanted. The waitress was not understanding and acted as if there was nothing she could do to change what had happened and it was our fault. When my mom went up to her to fully explain and asked if something could be done she was very unkind and brief with her. The whole time the rest of the team was eating my dad was starving (due to being a picky eater) and I was too due to food allergy. She allowed for him to have one slice of pepperoni from the all you can eat, but that's not enough for anyone. When she brought checks to us and noticed we hadn't eaten any of the pizza. She then argued with my mom about getting a manager to come over to see if something could be done. Her attitude was not customer forward first thinking. It was completely unacceptable. Her attitude was that none of this was her problem the whole time. I get serving a team of 11 year old boys can be stressful but there were 4 other servers helping her. Thankfully the management fixed the problem, but the experience was something else. I've never had a waitress be so unkind. read more
