Great store! Boardwalk caters to all sorts of gamers. Magic dominates their event calendar, but…read morethey also have designated play times for Digimon, Lorcana, and other smaller games. The large play area is capable of accommodating 50+ players and is definitely one of the best things about the store. The available space means there's almost always people hanging out and playing some game or another. Not much tabletop wargaming going on though. They have a great selection of open games available for playing. Dice, bags, mats, paints, and other accessories are available at reasonable prices. Highly recommended, especially if you like card games or meeting up to play board games.

For those of you who are more familiar with "Common Ground Games" in Dallas, Boardwalk Games is basically a smaller version of that store. The exception is that Boardwalk Games is mainly board games, whereas Common Ground sells a lot of accessories (dice, collectible cards, plushies, etc). I see some other reviews negatively commenting on the tournaments run by Boardwalk Games, but I've never partaken in any of them, so I can't base my review off those tournaments; therefore, it's an easy 5 stars for me.

The only thing available from the original Root Kickstarter was the Expansion which included 2 additional items - a new deck and a hirelings pack. I was surprised when upon receiving my items, it did NOT include the new deck or hirelings pack. Thinking this was an oversight given Game Nerdz clear avertising that this was the Kickstarter version, I contacted them. They said I could return the item, but they stated they made no mistake, refused to even update their false listing, and "no one else complained". To be clear, the Kickstarter cost $50, as did the Game Nerdz listing, so nothing flagged me as being off in pricing. No other site is advertising the stand alone retail expansion as "Kickstarter", and I even sent customer service 4 other sites showing those sites listings DO NOT claim to have the KS version. Game Nerdz is advertising the wrong thing, but worse still is their refusal to fix their listing or admit anything wrong or misleading. They stated "well we got it from KS, so that's why it's there". But... they got the kickstarter version and SEPERATED the KS into 3 different SKUs - fine but that is RETAIL, not KS, so don't advertise it wrong. Given the clear false advertising, I can no longer trust Game Nerdz to ship me what is actually advertised on their website. I've spent thousands on this site, and will no longer support them given they refused to even update their listing, admit anything wrong, or make it right with me. They are taking it back as a return, so that's a positive. Oddly enough, they could've just made this right by sending me the 2 additional items which are worth $22 (they paid less than this). Instead, they're paying for me to ship it back to them as a return, and the expansion is opened so they can't even sell it new. I'm returning other items too, so they're losing sales on multiple items plus the LOSS on the now used expansion. They're going to lose money on this transaction, and lose me as a customer. A smart business would make it right instead, and come out way ahead even in the short term.

I've walked by and never even noticed this place, but I encourage you to enter. The store offers players pieces to paint and play in house, other related material to review, and a historical review of Warhammer. War game setups to play, which, by the way, are artistically set up so awesomely! I would have taken more pictures and videos, but it was busy, and the majority of the game stations were taken up by players. I, on the other hand, enjoyed that they had a cafe as well. I believe their coffee machine is down or something. So I opted for their "Blood for the Blood God" tea it's not too sweet and pretty refreshing for a hot, humid day. We waited to eat our cinnamon roll at home. After heating it up a bit, I enjoyed the sweet treat. It was a tad bit dry, but it was eaten. If you're a fan or just walking by, stop and check it out. You may be surprised by a hobby you never knew could pique your interest!

They then got to play with their new figurines on the very elaborate game tables (which I have seen very packed on weekends but which were mostly open on a Wednesday afternoon). I have no idea how the game works but the detailed figurines and buildings are very cool to look at and my kids loved exploring the tables. The cafe looks like a standard local coffee shop with a nice mix of coffees and pastries. Definitely a fun place to stop into and check out.
