Great store! Boardwalk caters to all sorts of gamers. Magic dominates their event calendar, but they also have designated play times for Digimon, Lorcana, and other smaller games. The large play area is capable of accommodating 50+ players and is definitely one of the best things about the store. The available space means there's almost always people hanging out and playing some game or another. Not much tabletop wargaming going on though. They have a great selection of open games available for playing. Dice, bags, mats, paints, and other accessories are available at reasonable prices. I like this place- it's a clean and decently large store with many bookshelves of opened board games for visitors to try out on the many tables available. For those of you who are more familiar with "Common Ground Games" in Dallas, Boardwalk Games is basically a smaller version of that store. The exception is that Boardwalk Games is mainly board games, whereas Common Ground sells a lot of accessories (dice, collectible cards, plushies, etc). I see some other reviews negatively commenting on the tournaments run by Boardwalk Games, but I've never partaken in any of them, so I can't base my review off those tournaments; therefore, it's an easy 5 stars for me. read more

My favorite place for selling and buying Magic the Gathering. The store hosts a great competitive scene while having enough space to host a wide array of casual board-gaming or Commander pods. Will really carved out a space of his own in an highly contested market and made it something special that stands amongst the best. read more

Some of the worst customer service experience I have experienced in a game shop, and this is consistent each time I've visited. Beyond being treated poorly, they provide little to no knowledge about the games they sell. I will not be shopping here again. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. Will was great. We walked in with intention of playing a new board game that we'll like enough to buy. Will asked us what we might be interested in. We told him we like Catan and Ticket to Ride. He literally suggested the best board game ever! It was a combination of both games. Lords of Waterdeep. Soooo fun. He even took the time to show us how to play, and then was there if we had any questions. 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for a fun board game night and place to buy them. Found this amazing tabletop/card game shop a few weeks ago. Definitely would've found it much sooner if it was on yelp, so I'm hoping this helps other like minded yelpers find this place. Will and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I've been a casual board game player, and I've never been exposed to so many genres of board games. The shop allows people to come in and try out a plethora of board games, so its a great place to try things out before you buy them. In the past, I've had friends buy a game thinking they would like it but never played it. So now that should never happen anymore. They also have cards for sale and card game tournaments. I'm not familiar with card games, so you'll have to call in for that. I've received solid recommendations here, met new enthusiasts to play with, and love that its surrounded by two pizza shops. They also sell drinks and snacks if you are looking for something lighter. You can bring your own food in as well. Their hours are: Monday - Thursday: 11 am - 9 pm Friday - Saturday: 11 am - 12 am Sunday: 11 am - 8 pm I highly encourage you to support local by buying their board games if you come and try out their 100+ board games instead of just trying and buying elsewhere. I am actually surprised by those couple of 1 star reviews. It literally inspired me to give my 2 cents about this particular shop. I am not a crazy experienced MTG player, but I do know the difference between game formats. I also know before I buy a card for a format I check the BAN list. So I'm going to swiftly counter the 1 star review that was placed on this LGS. That person should have most definitely done there own checking. Plus it you are that inexperienced playing MTG. I can't honestly picture one single person who plays casually or competitively would care if a newbie used all kinds of banned cards or proxy's. That's just not how the MTG community does newbies. Moving on. It's aug 2021. Most of the other card shops either stopped selling singles (cough madness cough). Or they literally charge 1.5 - 2x market for there cards or sealed. I'm staring directly at you 'Carpe diem comics' in mckinney. This place is legit. They have a fresh amount of newer sets IE modern horizons 2, forgotten realms, commander pre-cons, secret lair, and some retro pre-cons as well. Fairly priced, and yes. I mean fairly priced. Before I buy I usually click Amazon for similar products and cost. Yes. It's competitive or even. They have nice deck boxes snd card sleeves as well. Oh and the best counter dice selection you will ever see. But that isn't the best part regarding boardwalk. It's 100% the singles selection. It's comparable to madness in their price. But they charge taxes. (I know cheap shot) The owner is a typical introvert, as a lot of us are in the MTG community. If you are a sensitive person. Great play to buy and play. Owner is very friendly. They hold a monthly brain burn games event for playing the harder games.

Nice place, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a good customer crowd. It's bigger than it looks, but certainly not huge. Front is comics and some games, the back is mostly a gaming space. The FNM (Friday Night Magic) crowd is pretty active and they also have Modern on Tues. nights. I think there is budget Commander on Mon, standard on Wed, Legacy on Thurs. and other games throughout the week. Sat & Sun have free play board games. read more

Walked in to this store with my adult son while on a road trip, as he is a serious MTG player and he likes to check out MTG stores when traveling. We were not acknowledged by anyone in the store (there were a total of 3 people in the store at the time) and when my son did ask a question to the person that was most likely the employee/owner, the response was rude and snarky. We walked right back out wondering, "WTH?" Too bad, they could have had a good card buying customer and he was looking to play while in the Dallas area. read more

I am new to Magic the Gathering, and I went to ask for help regarding some creatures for my first deck. Well I was sold a card that is banned from Commander. When I returned to the store to return it for another creature I was told they couldn't help me, and if I wanted they could buy it back but not for what I paid. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. They didn't even try to help even tho the attendant said it was his fault for selling me a banned card. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Don't waste your time. After 40 years of gaming, this is the lamest excuse for a game store. The inventory is practically nonexistent compared to other common ground games stores. You can survey the inventory in less than 5 minutes in their 18' x 18' store front. The staff is rude and discourteous. The prices are definitely to the high side. Despite state laws and gubernatorial orders against mask mandates, the management is psycho about everyone wearing a mask, regardless of your vaccination status and exemption from wearing masks for health reasons. You could have a fever and be coughing up a lung and you would be permitted to enter as long as you have a mask (which are scientifically proven to be inadequate against the spread of covid. Another example of Covid ignorance at its worse. Dont wast your time. Go to other more common ground type stores for your games where they have endless stock, courteous and helpful staff and prices in the average gamers range. read more

Great place for my son and I to spend a few hours. He recently got into playing pokemon and we met the employees of Boardwalk last week. Everyone there was very kind and helpful to my son. We have had a lot of fun learning the game and my son was given a card that will certainly be special to him for a long time to come. read more

Great spot for buying & playing tabletop games (ie Star Wars Armada and Magic the Gathering). The selection of board games, card games, and miniatures never ceases to amaze me! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and are truly passionate about what they do. When I first walked in, I saw an X-Wing game going, and I knew this place was a true hidden gem.
