If a restaurant is good enough, it deserves a second visit--and this one absolutely did. We first came on Saturday for dinner and enjoyed it so much that we came back Monday for lunch. From the moment we walked in, the service was superb on both visits. The staff was attentive, friendly, and consistent. The restaurant has a classy atmosphere with a great buzz of people, creating an upscale yet welcoming vibe. On Saturday, I ordered the ribs, and they were phenomenal--juicy, packed with flavor, and literally falling off the bone. We noticed another table enjoying the onion rings, so we had to order them as well. No regrets--they were crispy, delicious, and a great choice. My wife ordered the Prime Meatloaf, and I have to admit, I loved it. It was hearty, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. For dessert, we tried the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, and unfortunately, it was a complete miss. The cookie simply didn't taste good, and the ice cream didn't do anything to redeem the dish. This is one item I'd recommend taking off the menu. When we returned on Monday for lunch, I ordered the Tavern Burger, and it was outstanding--juicy, flavorful, and worth every bite. My wife chose the steak frites, and unfortunately, it was the biggest disappointment of both visits. The steak tasted like it had been reheated, was tough, and lacked the quality we expected. The true showstopper, though, was the sushi roll. I can't remember the name, but the picture says it all. It was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely outstanding. Overall, aside from the steak and the dessert, everything else was excellent. The service was consistently top-notch, the atmosphere was lively and sophisticated, and there were enough standout dishes to make us come back twice in just a few days. Yesterday we tried celebrating our mother on Mother's Day at this restaurant location and it turned into a disaster. The waiter and the staff ended up serving virtually all the appetizers and main entrées at the same time one after another plate after plate to the table. There was absolutely no room left to serve any more plates of food without taking other dishes away to make the room for more ordered food. My steak frites entree was supposed to be medium well done but came to the table cold and still barely cooked. At the same time, my appetizer of a half dozen of raw oyster shells in a huge bed of crushed ice started melting on the table and then flooding off the table into my lap and the lady's leg sitting next to me. Someone commented on that a drink was spilled but that was totally false and did not happen. The staff and waiter was of no help in trying to clean up the flood of melting ice from the oyster appetizer, so I started removing plates and the water myself as my pants were drenched with water. So next the staff were removing all of our half eaten entrées from our table trying to get us to leave. That is such an insult being their fault for giving poor service and being rude!! Once again, NO ONE at our table spilled a drink and instead it was the neglect of this restaurant that caused everything to go wrong on Mother's Day!!! read more

Horrible Mother's Day experience at this restaurant with sub standard service from the tons of plates left on the table to leaking appetizer bowls of crushed ice dripping all over everywhere to the uncooked food that we ordered medium well done which was NOT...It came to the table cold and raw red meat looking and chewy...Discusting!!!...The staff were rude and not helping but taking plates of unfinished dinners away from us because they wanted us to leave after we tried to clean up the flooding on the table from the melting ice from the oyster appetizer to clearing our own dishes away from our table because they kept bringing more and more ordered dishes without making room for more dinners and desserts being served...A horrible Mother's Day experience at this restaurant!!!...No drinks were spilled but instead the flood of liquid came from their own melting ice from the oyster appetizer that was all served virtually at the same time as the main entrées...It was impossible people!!!!... read more

Instead of addressing the excessive wait or the billing error in a meaningful way, management instructed our server to remove her gratuity from the bill rather than taking responsibility themselves. That response said everything. The problems we experienced were clearly management issues, not our server's. She worked hard under impossible circumstances and deserved support, not to have her tip used as the solution. We made things right for our server, and stressed to her that this was not her fault. The kitchen produces great food, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, poor management overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience. I hope they invest more in supporting their staff and taking ownership when things go wrong.
