Super stoked I found this place and Joey. I've been doing the longer hair thing for a few years and letting the beard go for about a year now. My gal loves it and mean mugs me every time I suggest getting a trim. I convinced her I needed help with the beard and I went searching online looking at reviews. I decided on Joey at Brickyard, based on reviews, and WOW....I could not be happier. Even better than that though, my gal could not be happier. Joey is my go to person here but all of the staff do an admiral job and they provide a relaxed environment to get a cut and a shave. I never feel judged for not coming in for 6 months and looking sloppy they just take care of me and make me feel good about giving them my money. read more

I went there once and liked the fact he listened to me just wanting a trim. The next time however showed the true business etiquette . Very unprofessional. New to the area so I was late. I called to give my location but he couldn't help. Or didn't want To. When I got in I saw other babes go up to him saying I was waiting but he just gave them a crisp nod. I swear he was just giving the guy in his chair an 'air' cut to make it seem he was busy. It was 5 pm and when I called he told me he'd be there until 5:30 so he had plenty of time for me. Must have thought so Much of himself I'd hurry back for another chance. So after a half hour I left. No one said anything to me. I'm very fed up with businesses putting themselves first. No way I would ever go back there. And from now on I won't give a rating on something until I go at least three times! read more

I really enjoy barbershops. I am very picky on barbershop when it comes to the styles I want for my son. Paul cut his dad's hair a few weeks ago, and I booked with him for my son. The barbershop by the Y was trash. We just moved to Spokane so I feel very confident that anyone here would do a spectacular job on anyone's head they touch. That's what I observed anyways. I hate discrimination in any form, so it pains me to write a negative review of Brickyard Barbershop. I was such a loyal customer. Before they were even open, I walked in during final construction and tried to get a haircut. I was a customer for about seven years. My visits were always the highlight of my month. You see, I'm 71, with a nasty infection of my right toes because of diabetes. I arrive in a wheel chair and Paratransit. This had never been a problem before. I was always greeted with respect, until two days before my Oct. 12, 2022, appointment. I texted my barber (Chris Banka, the owner) to warn him that I had not had a shower for five days and asked if that was a problem as far as cutting unwashed hair. Chris went weird. "I have to reschedule you. I can't do that. Sorry." He complained about my "hygiene." He said "I'm concerned for your health and safety living alone. I can't do it anymore." So that's how someone who is concerned treats you. Three months earlier, I had asked if he had any concern about letting an old geezer like me come into his hip shop. He said absolutely not. That would have been his chance to say something about hygiene. By the way, the "hygiene" issue is about an infection of the toes on my right foot. I get in-home medical care two times a week, and visit Wound Care at Deaconess once a week. So I'm getting the best care one could hope for. But the foot is wrapped, and I can't smell it, yet every little dog in my building heads for my toes first. I don't know what part of my body Chris is sniffing. By all means, go to Brickyard. Great cuts, great ambience. But by all means, know that it discriminates against the aged and the disabled. read more

Brickyard changed the way I see hair and I can't thank them enough! Been coming to visit them since I was a younger guy and was blown away at the job they did. As time went on I moved between barbers and ended up being Ken Beeler's client and I've never had a bad cut from the guy, no matter how crazy my ideas were for the style! They charge $35 for a haircut lol. And they expect a tip. So they make over $70 an hour to cut hair. Really? Maybe $60 an hour after booth rent. The three guys in there were cussing and running their mouths about how crappy the other barbers are while cutting everyone's hair. Worth every penny every time. Best damn haircuts, comfortable environment, great people. I wanted a clean professional cut that would stay easy to handle as it grew out. Can't recall how many places I have been to over the years that must have taken shortcuts, because none of them ever got it right. My barber there is Chris and I've been going there about a year. At the advice of my roommate decided.to try this place out, and now I can say that I've found my haircut place in this town. I love that they allow walk-ins. I got there right before 10am on a Saturday and out me on the list (was able to try out Vessel Roasters across the street while waiting). Afterwards got to get a haircut from Andrew who was not only super friendly but also helpful with a few hairstyle-related questions. He offered the suggestion of a higher number for a fade which I was really happy with. After that I then got on Andrew's schedule and will hopefully make him my regular barber! read more

Dear barber, Don't ask how the last haircut was if you don't want an honest answer. And when you get a very politely delivered reply of "not the greatest", with some helpfully descriptive, specific details, don't get your goddamn panties in a bunch and act like a drama queen for the rest of the haircut. Instead, take it like a big boy, apologize and do your best to make it up to the client. That last part is critical, especially when you have such overly stringent policies such as demanding payment from a client for a haircut you refuse provide because the client runs 10-15 minutes late for the first time in 60+ appointments. I can see charging clients who make a habit of showing up late. But charging clients who run late for the first (and only) time ever is a bit ridiculous because, shit happens. Especially when the barber has run 10-35 minutes late more than a few times. And especially when the barber acts like a whiny little bitch when he gets a very politely and delicately delivered, honest answer to the question, "How was the last haircut?". Suck it up, comp the next haircut and get over yourself. Used to go to Brickyard pretty regularly. But after a barber had a hissy fit because he asked for feedback, but didn't like hearing that the last haircut he gave me was not great, I won't go back. I was barely over the fence on this place anyway. The policy of demanding payment for a haircut that isn't performed because a client is a bit late once, ever, coupled with the shitty and hypocritical customer service policies (when the barber fucks up) is beyond ridiculous. That and this recent act of douchebaggery made the decision to move on easy. Overall, for the price, Brickyard varies too much in quality. It varies from barber to barber (once received a pretty fucked up cut from a barber who's no longer there). And even with the same barber, the quality can be too inconsistent. Given the market, location, level of service provided, fact that they're cash only and the inconsistent quality of cuts, The best rating I can give Brickyard is 2 stars... 4 stars for atmosphere, less than zero stars for customer service, 2-3 stars for quality and value. read more

Five star experience for sure! Had trouble finding a barber shop that would take my 14 month old son. I can understand the inconvenience, but I wanted a professional (Especially when the haircut was more for my husband's liking than mine). I called and made the appointment with Anthony, who was helpful in tips for a first haircut as well as patient with all of my questions. We showed up at 8AM to Chris who ended up being friendly and patient; even joked about Jaxxer joining in the barbershop banter. What a wonderful experience for an emotional mother to have! Big fan of this place! The fact that they don't have TVs anywhere really sets them apart from other shops I've been to in the past. The reason I say that is because it's just some good old fashion conversations which in today's society people are to busy glued to their phones or even TVs to actually have. Sometimes when one of my boys goes in for a cut I'd go just for the environment that Brickyard creates. Onto the haircuts! I love um! Been pushing everyone to see my guy Chris Schroyer. Dudes legit! I LOVE this place. I was visiting from Seattle and was desperate for a nice haircut. The shop was bright and welcoming. I loved the eclectic decor and the fun retro tunes. As soon as I came in, I was greeted, invited to sit, offered a drink, and introduced to my barber, Jefferson. Jefferson was fantastic. He listened to me attentively, asked great questions, gave great attention to detail, and was an overall kind and warm gentleman as he worked. I love my haircut. The prices were very reasonable (cash only) and all of the barbers seemed friendly and engaging. I come to Spokane once or twice a year and I usually get my haircut before I arrive. I think I'll change this habit and see these guys instead. read more

I had a pretty disappointing first visit to Brickyard, but they made an effort to make it right, which really impressed me. Second cut was from a different barber, and the results were 200% better. More than happy with the experience, and I'll be back in a couple weeks. Cut was great overall. I've got a weird cowlick that makes how I style my hair difficult when it's shorter, but Ken offered a different approach that I've tried previously, which didn't end up working out well, but that's my hair's fault, not his. it was great to get that feedback from someone who never cut my hair before. Was sent here by a coworker and haven't gone back to my old barber since. Garrett usually cuts my hair and does an awesome job. I get exactly what I want every time. Everyone else I see usually is getting a great cut too. Garrett is also super responsive and has been super cool about rescheduling when I can't make my appointment. I could not say enough great things about this place. Every time I go in for a cut it's a relaxing break from the day, I thoroughly enjoy it. Joey is an awesome barber! He's super conversational and takes the time to get a real idea of what you're after before he gets started. I had to wait a little bit when I got here because he was taking the time to make sure the person before me was taken care of, which is an absolute positive for me! It screams of good character and that's the kind of person I want behind the clippers. Dropped in, not cheap, but very happy. They were full up but the most junior guy there was open. If he is the least of them then they have a high standard. It was well worth the extra expense. Kody immediately helped me out by giving me his last open slot for that week, conveniently just the following day. Best hair cut I ever got. I had Andrew who was super friendly and kind. We are moving overseas, and while cutting my hair I asked for some pointers as I will have to cut my hair on my own. I have always had trouble finding a barber who can give me a consistent, good hair cut and who knows their way around trimming a beard of all lengths. This changed when I found Jefferson, one of the barbers at Brickyard Barbershop. The environment at Brickyard is friendly, upbeat, and welcoming, and all of those terms also describe Jefferson just as well. He is enjoyable to talk to and makes you feel at home when he is cutting your hair or trimming your beard. I have been going to Jefferson for just over 6 months now, and I can't imagine going to anyone else. He remembers how I like my hair cut and gets it exactly right every time I go in to the shop. Not only is he Mr. Consistent when it comes to cutting my hair, he's also excellent with beards. I like to vary the length of my beard throughout the year, and Jefferson is great at trimming and styling my beard whether it is short or long. I would (and have) recommended Jefferson and Brickyard to a number of people and will keep loyally coming back in the time to come. read more

I've been going to Chris since he was at Porter's, and I love the new space. Brickyard has a great laid back vibe and great barbers.
