He is very fast with the clippers we used to take my boy to Great Clips he hated it so mama try to do his hair which isn't the best thank goodness I got referred to this place wish I knew about it sooner!! My husband also likes going here Joel gets his done fast and actually is able to style his hair faded properly! He's never been disappointed ever. This is a cash only place There's only one disadvantage about this place which is a little bit irritating but the parking I swear to God it's hard to find a park every time I go there's no legitimate parking spot and the strip mall beside it you're not allowed to park there because they will literally tow your car. I really tried to like this place. After being referred by friends and getting cuts from Buck (Brian) for about 5 months, my son and I finally had to move on. I have never dealt with someone in the service industry less professional. Out of 5 haircuts, he rescheduled 3 of them, and multiple reschedules for those 3. One time he said he could cut our hair at 7am on a Saturday. It was early, but worked with our schedule. When we got there only the owner was there. He said Buck wasn't even going to be in that day as he was attending a wedding. I text him and left him a voicemail, but didn't hear back for several days. It's always some excuse making it sound like his life is extremely difficult. Yesterday was the last straw. He had called on Thursday to insist he reschedule us to get a different customer in. We had made this appt more than a month in advance. I agreed to come Saturday at 9. On Friday evening I text to confirm. After no response I called. He said he would be there. About an hour later he called back and said he had forgotten he had a personal event scheduled and couldn't cut our hair. He also didn't know the next time he could "fit us in" since he had a busy schedule. I told him it was frustrating that I rescheduled as a favor too him and now couldn't even get a date scheduled for us. He informed me we weren't his only two clients and when we book a month out he might need to adjust his schedule to get everyone in. What's the point of scheduling an appt then !? He said with all he has going on, he "isn't really worried about our f**king haircuts" and maybe we need to find someone else. While I really did like how he cut our hair, and hate finding someone new, he was right. It's time for us to move on and it's honestly past due. Some of the guys in there seem to have there stuff together a lot better, but I don't really want to go into a place that allows a barber to treat clients like this. read more

I just left the shop with the best cut I've ever gotten! These guys have legitimate skill and are worth the money and the wait. I guess when you have a name like WDT, you tend to feel a little inferior and probably refer to your father and his sister as mom and dad. Let me begin by saying that I have worked in an appointment based setting. So I understand that it can be frustrating when people no-show. If that had been the case I would understand. But it's not. When you call 4 days before your appointment and leave several voicemails and don't hear back from anyone in the shop, that is now the shops problem. Not the customers. So for Billy to charge someone 22 dollars for a haircut that didn't happen is very poor business practice. Quite frankly it's just greedy and in poor taste as well. Will never recommend this shop or be rescheduling an appointment. read more

All-in-all it was a pleasant experience. My hair cut was good and my barber (I can't remember HER name) had great attention to detail and could carry a conversation. I have a love hate relationship with Porter's. If you can get Blaine to pay attention to you and show him a picture of what you want, he does a fantastic job. When he is distracted and talking to someone else the whole time, he just kind of does whatever. I would suggest Blaine make a point to show the customer his hair with a mirror and ask if it looks right, before sending them off. And Blaine could avoid talking too much to others in the shop when he is cutting on a customer. Pay some attention to the guy in the chair. read more

I went to college at Gonzaga and Blaine was my go-to guy for 3 years in Spokane. I even used to have him cut my hair while he worked at a certain "T and A show", overpriced, "luxury", men's salon, with several locations (rhymes with shmeldon). I was extremely anxious for him to open his own place and was blown away by how perfect it was when it finally opened. He kept all the good things about a nicer men's barber shop, and did away with the airhead chicks coddling you and pushing overpriced pomade and kept his prices reasonable. I even got two of my roomates going there on a regular. I moved back to Seattle after graduation and always find myself thinking "I wish I could go back to Porter's" every time I need a haircut. Was referred to Chris by a friend. What a great experience. My hair is a buzz cut but he took a cut that other guys take 5 minutes on and spent 30 minutes. Hot towels, a straight edge, shampoo, massage, beard trim...the works. I really felt pampered and all for $12. Additionally the shop had a great vibe. My son has been a loyal customer of Blaine's for over a year. Due to unforeseen traffic, even with leaving the house an hour before his appointment my son ended up being 5 mins late. Although my son apologized profusely for it Blaine took it to an unprofessional level by basically bitching my son out and making him feel even worse than he was already feeling. But the kick to the face was when Blaine took his anger out on the haircut itself, it is the worst haircut I have seen and paid for--literally what you would expect to see from a new barber at Smoov Cuts. And to make matters even worse this haircut was supposed to be for his senior pictures. So now, we try to renew our son's low esteem due to the terrible haircut he received, reschedule the Senior Photos and wait for the grow out, and find a new barber. Haircuts are walking advertisements so we will gladly tell people where my son got this cut and it will NOT be a positive review either. We will never return to Porter's nor refer anybody here ever again based on Blaine's unprofessional behavior. Wow. One does not go to Porter's Barber Shop for a hair cut, one goes for the art of a barber practicing their craft. Being from out of town and craving a cut I searched this shop out looking for a true barber shop experience and I was not disappointed. Having made an appointment I was assigned to Dre's chair, and she worked her clipper magic, giving me exactly what I envisioned and exceeding my expectations. And the shampoo...? Man, I could feel the stress melt away as a hot towel was wrapped around my face and Dre worked the temples like a clinician . We topped it off with an awesome wet shave, which I fully recommend for any man looking to pamper himself in an old school way. The product may seem a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it.
