I literally ran to this place at the tail end of the covid-19 pandemic with a hair crisis. I put 40 volume bleach in my hair for like 30(maybe 40 minutes). When I walked in out of breath and probably looking crazy I realized I was probably not their typical clientele - and was concerned I may need to present a man card and only had my debit and drivers license on me. Was told I didn't need an appointment and to have a seat and Amanda would be helping me. Not gonna lie, read reviews here and got myself in a nice and shitty mood before it was my turn and started off on the wrong foot with Amanda (all me). She didn't laugh at me, we laughed together at my ridiculous hair. Yep. She dropped an f-bomb (lol who the fuck actually says f-bomb? God spokane....)and I loved it. I almost cried when she made me look halfway human again. It's been a hard year for everyone, right? There are some stupid reviews on their page -- Amanda and her co-worker were hilarious and made me laugh when I really was feeling like crying -- and fuck -- I know thats not what "the man shop" is for, but Im incredibly grateful for her humor and her skill and for just being a nice person. I walked out of there feeling so much better and told myself I needed to share my experience and yeah I don't know who left the these salty reviews and specifically called out Amanda, but Im just so grateful none of those miserable people were there :-) Spokane doesn't suck. read more

I went into the man shop because my regular was booked. I go into the guy and tell him to just take a lil off the top and fade the sides. My hair parts to the left side of my head, and you are supposed to FADE THE LONG HAIR INTO THE SIDE WHERE ITS SHORT AND BEING FADED. they used to be pretty good at giving hair cuts but the last several times I've gone there they always seem to not cut my hair right and the couple of times Ive found a good stylist they are moved to another place. it seems like now they are in such a huge hurry that quality has disappeared. First off, it was a good haircut. If you are not super particular then it is a good deal for the price. Maybe she was annoyed that I wasn't wearing a mask or that I came in close to close but she kept interrupting me when I tried to explain what I wanted and in the end didn't do what I wanted. I went to the one on Division & Frances. Atmosphere was fine, short wait period, but the lady doing the cut plainly did not care about giving a quality cut. It was done quickly, and sloppy. No professionalism (even for a place that specializes in being a little edgy). The last time I went in, the young woman cutting my hair was friendly enough. Apparently my feigned interest clued her in that she could get a little more personal. Her favorite topics of conversation included racially classifying people groups (and using the slurs to match) and talking about drug use. While I get the image meaning selling "hot girls" and a racy environment - at the end of the day a guy wants a good haircut at a reasonable price. When you look at the menu, it's designed to up charge you, which is the mission of any business I suppose. However, after a couple visits the haircuts are simply not good. They want to race a clipper over your head as fast as possible and send you on your way. You want a quality cut - good old dependable on Monroe for $8.
