Aside from the survey they have you fill out when you go in which my stylist didn't even look at, they asked nothing about the wedding, venue, time of year etc. At the end of the appointment I had a few dresses that I had liked which the stylist initially said she would write down for me. She never wrote them down and when I came out from changing she said she would text them to me....which she never did. Sample dresses were in terrible condition. I was referred by a friend but ended up finding a dress on Google search that led me to Bridal Trousseau. This was my second bridal fitting so I knew what I wanted but only new it once I found my dress. The bridal store is located right downtown city of New Haven so you must pay for parking. As I walked through the door everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The bridal store is small and intimate the camera's with the TV screen was a nice touch. I was able to see my dresses from the back while seeing the front from their gorgeous mirrors. I noticed they had my name on a small mirror at a table to welcome me. Once my bridal consultant Yvonne introduced herself we got acquitted and the dress hunt begin. Yvonne had previously texted me and I was able to send her a dress I wanted to try on their site. Surprisingly, the dress I sent her was the first dress I tried on and it ended up being the one I said YES too! I did try on other dresses to make sure it was a definite YES lol. I just returned from my second visit to BT, where I just purchased my wedding dress. The experience with Vera was flawless from start to finish. Booking my first visit was so easy, and quickly followed by a phone call to confirm and get some details about how best to prepare based on what I'm looking for. Vera was so in tuned to my experience during both visits--I came alone to avoid bringing my mom & sister out in public (during the pandemic) and it really felt like I was shopping with a knowledgeable friend the entire time. Vera experimented with different styles, which gave me a great idea of what worked with my body and made me feel my best. After digesting the styles, I emailed Vera to send photos of some more styles I liked, she called soon after, and set our second visit. During my second visit, I arrived late and was worried that would set the tone for my visit.. I arrived ready to WORK as I didn't want to keep anyone after closing time. Well.. Vera was ready.. she had a few dresses pulled, and didn't rush me whatsoever, even though we were about 30 min from closing. The very first dress I tried on from her selection.. was the one. --FaceTimed my mom & sister-- and they absolutely loved her selection too. Now that you've made it to the end of my novel.. I'd say the most important takeaway from my experience was that I could tell Vera truly cared about my experience. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! The experience that I have had with Bridal Trousseau has been absolutely horrific. I bought my dress there and absolutely loved it. It was a sample, so the offered to keep it there on site until I was ready to do my alterations, which wouldn't be for another 6 months or so. I came back about a month after buying my dress and bought a custom veil and Haute Couture earrings, which had to be ordered. 5 months later, my engagement ended. When I went to pick up the dress (they don't take returns, even though it was a sample-- which is common practice, so not surprising) they weren't even sure where it was and I had to wait for quite a while for them to find it. When I came back for the veil and earrings, I was told that because my wedding had been canceled, they never placed the order for them because they didn't know what I wanted to do. At that point I asked if I could have a refund since the order wasn't even placed and they said no! They said they would place the order and that I could pick them up when the veil and earrings came in... After months of waiting, I called them multiple times, stopped by the store and got the same run around -- no one knew what was going on and apparently the order was lost. I dont know if it was lost in the store, in transit, or if they never placed the order, but they REFUSE to give me a refund. They've offered me store credit, but MY WEDDING WAS CANCELED. What on earth am I going to buy at a wedding boutique with no wedding to have??? It is insane to me that they would drag me through this process and essentially rob me of hundreds of dollars when I was already going through such a tough time. The absolute absence of organization, professionalism, and empathy is astounding. I used to work for Priscilla of Boston when they were in business so I know the industry well. This is absolutely NOT how you treat your customers. I generally take reviews with a grain of salt and it takes a lot for me to write one, so please, please do not risk going through what I have. At this point, I've given up. It causes too much heartache to constantly be dragged through the mud over this. I will simply continue to spread my horrible experience via word of mouth to all of my friends who are getting married in CT right now (I have 7 weddings to attend in 2015 and the calendar for 2016 is booking fast) and hope that no one goes here and has the experience that I have had. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DRESS FROM THIS COMPANY. I'm writing this review on behalf of my friend. If only we read the reviews of this place before she decided to get her wedding dress from here, I'm sure she would have saved a lot of time, money, and frustration. First off, she picked out her dress originally with just her mom and mom in law. She decided she wanted to show her bridal party the dress so we all went with her. The dress she originally wanted was apparently stained with red wine and was at the cleaners according to the staff so she had to settle with showing us something similar. Why anyone is bringing red wine to a white dress fitting is beyond me. Pretty annoying but not a big deal. She decided that was THE ONE and decided to put a payment down for it. Here comes the part I didn't understand at the time but now do, they ordered her a size 14 and she's normally a size 3 or 5. I know bridal shops must order up to do a fitting but to order a plus size dress was absurd. Now I know they did it on purpose to charge more for tailoring. Second, after getting her dress fitted down to her size, it still was not fitted as well as she would have liked because again, they ordered too big of a size and it was a lace dress. Kind of hard to tailor down a lace dress that much to be properly fitted. She got her dress the day before the wedding. The day of the wedding when it was time to put on the dress she realized she was missing all the buttons on the back of her dress. The buttons were more of a decorative element than actually functional but that was one of the parts of the dress she really liked. Where were these buttons? I have no idea. The seamstress must have taken them off before sizing and never put them back on. A few days after the wedding she decided to bring the dress to show them that there were no buttons and she didn't pay all this money to have an incomplete dress. They took the dress and told her someone would call her the next day. No call. Few days later..no call. She decides to call and of course they give her the run around. She decided then to go down there and the most they could do was give her $50. That's an absolute insult especially spending so much to buy the dress and then tailor it down. I should also mention they were doing a giveaway at the time for a free wedding or something similar to that. So you can only offer $50 for your mistake but then do a free wedding giveaway? This place does not care about customer service. Completely money hungry and rude. read more

Not the store for me. Couldn't find anything nice or decent quality. The first dress I tried on was basically synthetic. The staff were nice but their ability to display product was underwhelming. Needless to say I didn't stay long. Other stores in the area are much better quality. Ended up finishing my dream dress just a block over. A tad more pricey but 100% worth it. I can only image that the negative reviews of this store must be for the sample sale store. I bought my wedding dress (off the rack) at their flagship store and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone in the shop, all sales associates, alterations people, the owner Mel and even her husband who stopped by one day were incredibly friendly, personable and kind. They have a good variety of styles, nothing too out of the box but seemingly no one really does, were very patient and not pushy at all. Stay far away---- I went to this store 2 weeks ago to try on some bridesmaids gowns. Due to the bride being out of state, I complied a list of dresses the bride wanted to try on, me and one other bridesmaid and we were very simple and easy to work with. We were put into a dressing room with a very rude woman that was "helping us". She referenced my Caucasian skin tone as "pasty white" and I was very offended. She then was comparing the other bridesmaid's chest to mine by saying "well....look what she is working with" and pulling the dress she had on to the side, to show a little bit of her cleavage and was stating I was more well endowed than my friend (the other bridesmaid) We also had to make an appointment in order to even try on the gowns, which was fine, so we made our appointment and showed up 10 minutes early. They accommodated us until about 1 hour later after trying on more than 12 dresses each. They walked up to my mother and said "you need to leave that room in 10 minutes , we need it for a bride." Obviously they have no sense of customer service and halfway into trying the dresses on, the woman that was helping us disappeared, she was nowhere to be found when we wanted to try on more gowns. I was so upset with their lack of customer service and the very rude attitude by the staff. On our way out , we found a gown that we liked but in order to tell the out of state bride what style # the dress was, I needed to find out which dress # it was. I asked the woman to tell me what dress number it was and she refused, and said "I will put it on a client card for you" Basically she wanted us to buy the dress there, but there is no way I will ever return to that unprofessional, rushing customers , impolite business. I ended up going to another gown store that was amazing. Had a somewhat pleasant experience trying on dresses here. They have a camera so you can see on the iPad what the back of the dress looks like on you very clearly. The stylist knew what she was doing and was efficient and helpful. However, I felt they were a bit pushy, which I know a lot of bridal salons could be, but they were trying to get me to pick one that day and I did not find one I really loved. Aside from that, they kept calling me after I left to get me to purchase something. The most frustrating thing was I found a few of the exact same dresses at other boutiques for 3/4 of the price. It came apart early at the reception, missing a tux, wrong ties, and for all this they never apologized but tried to shift the blame to someone else. Hated it. Plain and simple. First off they lost my sisters belt for her wedding dress, the dress came in with a piece of lace missing from it, and an extra scallop of lace in the front. I ordered my bridesmaid dress and they measured me wrong, I got remeasured and signed to order a smaller size. Guess what? They ordered me the larger size still after getting remeasured and now I am stuck with a massive dress and I have to pay a ton of money to get it altered now on top of their awful prices already. My wedding dress dream come true!!! First of all this boutique is stylish, chic, and trendy. I was greeted into a calm beautiful environment and a glass of champagne by Lisa, the owner and I instantly felt comfortable. Lisa asked me what I was looking for and quickly came up with a few gowns that were exactly like I had described. I never once felt over whelmed. Lisa, and the other staff never grew impatient with me, and gave me honest feedback and answered all of my questions. When I found "THE ONE" I was over joyed! All of the gowns and accessories are of the highest quality and beauty. There is so much to choose from that it would be impossible to not customize your wedding day look to exactly what you are dreaming of at this one stop. And I can tell you first hand that the staff at bridal trousseau will not stop until they put together a look that not only fits you, but flatters you, your style and your budget as well. My nerves were in high gear during my wedding dress shopping but that all ended when I came to bridal trousseau. They made it so easy! When I called there to check on my order (being the nervous nelly that I am) I was treated with kindness and never felt to be like a pest. It was absolutely worth the wait when I picked up my grown, and they even let me try it on during a busy Saturday without an appointment! They truly wanted me to be happy! I'll give it 2.5 because I did get my wedding dress from there. The level of service to my bridal party was not the same as when I went and found my wedding gown. The staff was inattentive and in my opinion not super helpful. My best friend arrived before me and said she wasn't even acknowledged. We were putting on dresses ourselves with little help. Just didn't get a good vibe. I don't think we'll be getting bridesmaid dresses from there. I really hope my bridal dress fitting is much better. I'm not sure why this place has so many nasty reviews! I've been here twice to try on dresses and was treated very well during both appointments. I had called ahead to schedule an appointment to look at wedding dresses with my mom, sister and two aunts. When our group arrived, we were greeted warmly and offered champagne, which was really fun! We worked with Michelle and she was really helpful. I tried on a few dresses that day and got some great ideas but wasn't ready to commit because I had only just started looking. I ended up coming back to the store a second time to try on one of my favorites from the previous appointment, plus a few new dresses. Michelle was super accommodating when I kept wanting to try on that favorite gown! In the end, I bought my dress from a different store because I no longer live in CT, but I have to say my experience there was great. Just a quick note, there is not a ton of parking right around the store, so just be sure to leave a few extra minutes before your appointment to allow for parking! read more
