Very cute shop with nice staff! Your purchase goes towards 10+ causes (listed in a hand out after your purchase). The dresses come from brides who donated them or dress shops who once had the dresses in stock. Staff is very tentative and flexible. I appreciate their helpfulness in using the clips and alterations advice. I also appreciate their respect in privacy when I tried on dresses or my mom took picture of me. In wedding dresses, you may have to size up or find yourself fitting across many different sizes so my options were unfortunately more limited compared to sizes 12 and down. However, I happily got to walk away with a dress that my mom & I both loved, which means so much to me. All within my 1 hour appointment! Thank you, Brides for a Cause

Just adding more photos to my earlier review!! Everything went perfectly and I'm overjoyed with my dress! My husband and I had the perfect day! My dress originally sells for 2000 dollars and I got it for 100! The shoes sell for 400 online and I got them gently used for 50! I am beyond grateful!

Lots of off the rack sample dresses to choose from

Weddings are expensive... so are wedding dresses. So if you're going to spend money why not support a great cause while saving money. Brides for a Cause is a great local chain of stores that takes donated special occasion dresses/accessories and sell them at a discount. However, they're an actual nonprofit organization that donated to charities that benefit women. The dresses themselves range from used from weddings or samples from designers. If you're a fan of BHLDN, they get A LOT of donations of sample and sometimes brand new dresses from them. It's a really great way to get a discounted BHLDN dress, as they're usually even cheaper than when BHLDN puts them on sale. Since their inventory is based on donations, sizing and availability will vary greatly. The dresses may also have mixed condition - some may be brand new or others may have minor things that need to be fixed. I recommend inspecting your dress, but the sales team is really good about letting you know beforehand. All their dresses undergo dry cleaning after being donated, so at least they've been cleaned! I've been to the Seattle location before, but I think the Tacoma location has more selection in terms of wedding dresses. The stores will also carry accessories like sashes and veils. They also carry bridesmaid dresses from different designers in addition to wedding dresses, though stock and colors may vary. Due to COVID they are by appointment only and you can only bring one person with you. It's a bit of a bummer since you don't get the "full" dress shopping experience with your friends or family, but I'm glad they're taking the pandemic seriously. All employees are masked and they're pretty good about managing traffic in the store. The sales staff is also very friendly and helpful - I knew nothing about wedding dress sizing and styles, but they were really nice about answering my questions and helping me put something on if I had difficulty. They don't do alterations, but they have recommended tailors in different areas of the PNW. If there's a dress you are interested in but want to think about it more, they can do holds for up to 3 days. You can always schedule a shorter 30 min appointment to re-try it, or just walk in to purchase (no appointment necessary). All purchases are final make sure you're confident! All in all I had a great experience shopping here and said "yes" to my dress. Plus I only got it for $200 - it was a sample dress from Jenny Yoo / BHLDN that was originally $1k, and it was discounted an additional 50% off. If you keep an eye on their social media sites, they'll often post about any sales going on. So even though their dresses are already discounted, you can save even more during their sales. I also would recommend following them on social media as they sometimes do virtual sales. They don't have an online store since their stock varies greatly on donations, but sometimes they do flash sales on Instagram or Facebook live sales where you can contact the to purchase an item and have it shipped. I've actually bought a few special occasion dresses from them at a great discount. Can't wait to wear my wedding dress for my big day (can't post photos until afterwards). Hopefully when it's safe to have gatherings of course. Totally recommend checking this place out when shopping for any special occasion dress.

Thank you Brides Across America & Brides For A Cause for helping me find my dress. #OperationWeddingGown

Thanks to my friend, who is a recent military bride, I was advised to check out "Operation Wedding Gown" hosted by Brides for a Cause & Brides Across America. This event is held every Nov and July where they offer free wedding dresses to local military and first responder brides. You can read more details on Brides for a Cause's website but you do need to fill out an application, pay a $50 registration fee, and book an 1 hour appointment ahead of time. Given that this is the era of COVID, I was allowed to bring a friend to help me try on dresses but they are not allowed to browse through the racks with me. BFAC does have one way arrows marked on the ground to encourage social distancing, and there were only 2 other brides browsing for dresses, which made me feel at ease. Masks are required to be worn at all times, including while trying on dresses. Speaking of dresses, the selection of dresses and accessories is awesome. Everything is donated either by former brides or boutiques, and I was able to find an assortment of styles in my size. While 1 hour is not a lot of time to try on dresses, I did manage to find 2 of 7 dresses I liked. BFAC was very understanding to let me retry 1 of the dresses when my time was up with a belt to make sure I can make a decision. I'm glad they did because I ended up going home with a gorgeous Morilee A line gown, which happened to be a boutique sample. I am extremely grateful that I have the honor to find my dream dress through Operation Wedding Gown. With my fiancé on a year long deployment and dealing with the pandemic, this event made me more excited to begin the process of brainstorming our wedding. I do plan to come back to a BFAC location once I'm ready to look for my veil and other bridal accessories. I love that all proceeds go towards charity. Btw, even if you miss out on "Operation Wedding Gown", BFAC offers military brides 20% off year round.

This dress didn't make the cut, but it will be beautiful for another bride!

Absolutely wonderful experience! I couldn't recommend this business more! It was so fun to be able to search the racks for ourselves and pull dresses without ANY pressure. I easily said yes to a beautiful dress only an hour after I walked through the doors. So thankful for this non-traditional bridal shop!!

I found my perfect dress here! The gals working there were all super sweet. The hardest part is finding the one that fits you since some of the dresses have been altered being as they were donated by other brides. I found a sample dress that was donated from a shop -- so it hadn't had any alterations. I was able to do all the needed alterations myself which was a bonus (add a bustle, hem the straps, and change out the inner white cups for nude ones). Thank you Brides for a Cause!!

I am in awe of the quality of dresses you will find here! I Bought a HANDMADE Enaura Bridal Gown here for $340 ! These gowns start at close to 4K from the designer! If you're a bride on a budget and willing to schedule a few appointments to find the dress (constantly changing inventory) this place is the place to buy your dress!

    My engagement/reception dress!

My experience coming here was absolutely amazing! I already had my wedding dress and was looking for a reception dress/engagement shoot dress that could be a little more free flowing and whimsical. The woman on staff was super welcoming and helpful to me --unlike the Seattle store who seemed less helpful. If you are a midsize or plus size please go to the Tacoma store! I was lucky enough to find my dress and will be recommending their store to all my friends who may be future brides! They also have evening gowns available for bridal parties as well! Thank you for helping make this time magical

I came to Brides for a cause on a completely random Sunday just to check it out (since it is so close to my house) and also to try on some wedding dresses since I literally have never even tried on one. Well, I tried on 2 dresses & left with one (that just so happens to be made by a designer I had been eyeing online). If you're in the market for a wedding dress, Brides for a Cause is definitely worth checking out. It's a small, laid back store where you're free to roam around & pull your own gowns. They don't offer bridal consultants, or do any alterations, but the staff is super friendly and they will give you a list of places to get your gown cleaned or altered. There are two other locations, 1 in Seattle, the other in Portland. Definitely check them out. I walked in with zero expectations & left less than an hour later with a gorgeous gown for an amazing price!

From the very beginning of the appointment I was comfortable and excited to try on dresses because she listened, asked questions, and pulled dresses that she thought I would like. Throughout the appointment she kept noticing the little details and focused in on what was missing for me (that I didn't even realize myself). She pulled another dress and both her and I knew before opening the curtain to my loved ones that this was it. I cannot recommend her and the wedding bell enough! I was SO pleased with my experience here. Wedding dress shopping is supposed to be memorable,…read morerelaxing & fun. I read a lot of reviews and checked out a lot of bridal shops before deciding on this one! I had seen that a lot of people left negative reviews about the gowns being dirty, let me be really honest, no they were not necessary dirty, but you can tell that since these are TRIAL dresses that the fake tans some girls wear have come off onto the gowns. For instance I totally came in with a fake tan so that I could feel pretty while trying on gowns & to get a good idea of my skin in a dress come wedding day, I noticed as I took a few off that my tan definitely came off on a few dresses. So please keep in mind it's not the bridal shops fault when people come in with tans on and scuff up a dress. Alexa was my stylist & made me feel so comfortable in every gown, she pulled quite a few, along with allowing my bridesmaids to pull some to make the experience fun for us all! I scheduled two separate appointments, which really aloud me time to find a dress I loved.I could go on and on about how PERFECT Alexa was, from the moment I walked in I was greeted with warm smiles, laughter between staff, questions of which styles I loved, and this continued through both appointments. I was complimented with "you look SO good", but also with her honesty of "maybe this isn't the best look, let's try on some others". Overall I would recommend The Wedding Bell over and over again... & I did say YES to the dress.

My goal was to find an off the rack dress that didn't require alterations, if at all possible and was reasonably priced. While I didn't want the big wedding, I still wanted to feel like a bride. I was doing some Yelp searches and though there were a couple of bridal shops nearer to my home in the Puyallup area, when I saw Ivoryology I felt like this was going to be the place to go. I called on a Friday morning asking if we could get in that day and they said yes! I knew exactly where the store would be located as I previously went to school at UW Tacoma -it's in the alley way across from the mattress factory. Parking can be tricky. Coren listened to what I wanted and allowed us to pick out whatever dresses we wanted. The first 2 were stunning, but a little tight around the arms/bust as I'm top heavy. Normally anywhere from a size 10-14, Coren pulled a size 16 of a dress she thought would be perfect-and it was!! I said yes to that dress and then Coren helped me pick out a gorgeous veil to complete the look. I waited to post my review so I could show pictures of the final look (no professional hair and makeup, I just did it myself). Not professional pics -we'll do those later. It's true, the camera adds 10 pounds. And I'm not photogenic. But I'm still so pleased and I felt beautiful. Overall, I was and am so happy with my experience at Ivoryology and with my dress and veil. I would recommend to any soon-to-be bride, whether you need a quick elopement dress or a dress for a giant wedding and reception.

I went to so many off the rack stores and the dresses at Ivoryology were some of the best! They were in really good condition, had great variety, and I loved their pricing structure! A huge part of what made the experience so special was Michaela. She was incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely invested in helping me find my dress. We tried on so many different styles, she never rushed me or made me feel overwhelmed. Instead, she guided me thoughtfully, listened to what I liked (and didn't like), and helped me narrow things down in a way that felt easy and fun. She also had the dress changing process down to a science! She pampered me while also providing privacy and efficiency. The process with her was so seamless and comfortable. And the best part- I found my perfect dress! Also, they never pressured me or made me feel bad about not liking certain dresses or not finding the one right away (I did not make my decision on my first visit).
