By far, one of the best experiences I had wedding dress shopping All of the ladies there were so incredibly sweet and caring! I had an appointment scheduled here after an appointment with David's Bridal. I cancelled my appointment with them because I thought I was leaving with my dress from David's Bridal, only to be disappointed at the register. I called 5 minutes before my original appointment to see if I could still come in since my first plan fell through and they we so flexible and updated my appointment time to accommodate drive time. I arrived 15 minutes later than initially planned and they were there, ready to help and waiting. The ladies asked what I was looking for and showed me a few items, but were not pushy whatsoever. The whole experience was great. But I needed to a day to think about it, because I was still upset from earlier in the day. They offered to hold the dress for 24 hours. Unfortunately I was hospitalized the next day and couldn't get in to pick up my dress. However, a week later, I called they had the dress for me and I was able to go in and pick it up! This was my second choice at David's Bridal and I paid 1/3 of the cost for it. I am incredibly grateful for this place and these ladies. If you want a positive, stress free, shopping experience. I had the absolute best experience at Tacoma's Brides for a Cause. I'd visited a number of other "traditional" bridal stores and found them to be stuffy and stressful. I didn't like having to plan far ahead and make appointments, and then have others pick what they thought I would like. The atmosphere at Tacoma's Brides for a Cause is completely different - they allow you to walk through and browse dresses for yourself, and you can even try them on by yourself in the room (helpful if you don't love a stranger looking at you in your underwear). The employee at this store was so helpful - and I found my wedding dress there for $500 (down from $1500)! Even better, all the proceeds go to womens' shelters. I had already decided to visit their Portland location when my fiancee and I started talking about marriage. After he popped the question I went to their website to make an appointment and discovered a Tacoma branch opening the next weekend! It felt like kismet and my experience shopping there only reaffirmed that. My bridal party and I were warmly greeted, helped to pick out dresses, assisted with anything we needed, and overall given excellent customer service. They were so patient with us when we ran a little over the closing time in order to retake pictures in my dress (the first ones were blurry). I found a gorgeous sample gown, originally $1300 for $400 - and the money went to charity! Fantastic experience and I have been talking them up to all of my friends. Highly recommended! read more

I boarded a plane to specifically buy my wedding things from this organization bc it means a lot to me to support it! I had an incredible time and got beautiful things. Such amazing gowns and accessories. I bought an amazing Lazaro over the phone and then bought another designer gown for my after wedding dinner and bought 2 veils and then a short dress. I know I know I went a little crazy but why not everything goes to a wonderful cause. The sales people are so stylish and fun to be around! Very skilled in wedding style and bridal design! I am extremely proud to support such a wonderful organization. You can go to both the Portland and Tacoma store in the same day or weekend. The prices are incredible. I originally wanted to go to this store in Portland but didn't get to making it out there so I happen to check out their website and found out they opened a store in Tacoma and couldn't be more thrilled. I came in yesterday morning so I can see about getting first pick of the day. I am sure glad I came cause I found my dress and everyone there was so helpful and amazing. I feel in love with this shop from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere is so inviting. I have never had so much fun! I had previously been into 2 other Higher end bridal shops expecting to have found "The One" only to find bridal consultants fitting me into dresses that were way out of my price range. I found Brides for a Cause online and was excited to check it out. I figured that it would take multiple visits to find a dress that I loved and was in my price range. I had excellent assistance without being doted over (I don't like too much attention) or bullied into trying on dresses like many other shops do. I ended up happier than I ever thought I could be with a sample dress that was brought to me by a store worker and well within my small budget. I cannot recommend Brides for a Cause Tacoma enough. After spending 4 hours trying on a couple dozen huge, dramatic, HEAVY dresses at another local shop I was becoming discouraged. After only about 15 minutes in Brides for a Cause! I found the perfect dress for me... and it cost a small fraction of the price listed on the dresses in the other store I visited. I had a wonderful experience at Brides for a Cause. A friend of mine recommended them to me, and I immediately fell in love with the idea of buying a used dress for a charity-- I've never understood the idea of spending thousands of dollars on a dress you only wear once, so buying a used dress seemed like the perfect solution. I was not expecting to find the right dress on the first outing, if only because I was having enough fun trying on dresses that I wasn't sure I'd find anything that I liked enough to stop, but I found a dress so perfect for me that I didn't even want to try on the rest of the dresses I had picked out, and it was only $180. The staff was helpful, friendly, and kind, even when my mother-- much to my chagrin-- tried to sneak in to the employees-only area to pull out a dress that she thought I'd like (do not do this), and they had great tips about what would be easily alterable about the dress, and what might be more difficult/expensive. read more

I only have great things to say about Brides for a Cause. I wish I had started my dress shopping here, instead I started by trying on about 10 very uncomfortable dresses somewhere else. I found THE dress within 30 minutes at Brides for a Cause. The dress I chose was significantly discounted from the retail price stated on the tags. My total was $350 for a Matthew Christopher wedding dress. Brand new, with tags, no flaws, and only needing one small alteration. I was given a list of reputable businesses to use for my alterations. Every person I encountered was kind and helpful. I absolutely would recommend Brides to a Cause to anyone. Based off of my experience and the fact that the proceeds are for donation this is a MUST on the list. One thing that may deter some brides is the fact that some dresses are donated used and some are donated already damaged. Keep in mind there are plenty of new and undamaged dresses if you take the time to look. Happy shopping, ladies! read more

We went on a hot day, and they had really comfortable AC, the woman helping us was funny and very nice and wasn't in your face about buying a wedding dress. This is a really cute and cozy shop! They have a large selection of dresses and lots of high-end names on the rack. The saleswomen were very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Many of the dresses have seen better days or have various issues that would need to be addressed after purchasing, but a talented seamstress and cleaner can do a lot of good. You're getting a good price for a reason, so bear that in mind. These dresses do need some work. Overall, this is a good cause and a great concept and I do recommend checking them out. read more

I was able to get in and out really quickly. I found a few dresses that I liked in my size (26) and tried them on with my entourage. There was always someone nearby if I needed help lacing up. I got there in the morning just after opening on the 1st day of the Brides Across America event in November 2018 (I know, late review). The parking was really rough because it's off 6th Ave in Tacoma. Had to park a couple blocks away in residential. Not really their fault, the neighboring businesses had part of the side street parking blocked. All in all, I was able to find exactly what I wanted and everyone there was super helpful and not overbearing. For those who've never done a self serve boutique like this, you should plan on having a couple people with you so you don't have to worry if there's no one available when it gets busy. I believe there are 6 dressing rooms in the back, fairly big in size to change in. Just no platform to stand on when you want to look at the multiple mirrors in the room. Seating can get in the way if you have a long train to. There were 3 additional brides trying on dresses when I was there and I didn't have any issues. Also, these dresses are donated either new or lightly used, so some things may be missing. My dress is new and was missing the corset lacing and panel. They did give me a skinny lacing cord until I replaced it with new ones. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for designer gowns for a fraction of the price. read more

I had originally bought my dress online, it was a designer knock off that I could afford. Big mistake, HUGE. It fit me well, but was falling apart. There was no way I could wear that on my wedding day. I went to Brides for a Cause in Tacoma this last weekend and was blown away. My only criticism is that they make it seem like the dresses are completely clean on their website, whereas in real life there was makeup galore on some of these gowns. That could be from getting tried on at the boutique though. I tried on about 15 dresses, none priced higher than $800! I went to DAVID'S BRIDAL and couldn't find a better value. I ended up with the PERFECT dress that fit me like a glove. It was well within my budget and made me cry tears of joy. I tried on 5 dresses and almost left before Chelsea (who is AMAZING) brought me a dress to try on based on the shape I was describing. She knew I wouldn't like the extra embellishment it had on the front so she easily took it off me for to see and I fell in love!! I met this girl only maybe an hour earlier and she somehow picked the dress perfect for me that I will be wearing down the aisle! It's also incredible that I never felt pressured or uncomfortable in their environment (which you feel all the time at other places)! I 100% recommend this place and can't say enough good things! I loved this place! There is no pressure from the floor staff to try on what they pick out or to have to explain what you're looking for. What they have on the floor is what they have in stock (and it changes fairly frequently as dresses rotate through and are sold) and you can browse whatever sizes are on the racks at your leisure. I love that the dresses were so unique and donated from designer warehouses. Mine was a previous floor model, so the buttons were a little worn (easily replaced) and the lace at the bottom needed a little hemming where it had been stepped on, but it was clean and had never been worn previously for a wedding. For $150, it was well worth getting a designer dress that I loved and knowing that the proceeds were going to local charities for women. Even with the tailoring to fix the buttons and lace and adjust the bust for my size (for all extensive purposes, it was a perfect fit and only needed minor alterations), it still came out to a fraction of the price for a similar dress in a mainline store before alternations. I loved the store staff's approach of letting you browse and being there to answer questions if you have any. I am also highly appreciative of Katie. She has an alternations business, but she helps out at Brides for a Cause and offers free recommendations as to what can and can't be tailored so you can make an informed choice about your wedding dress. Her services as an alteration specialist are separate from Brides for a Cause, but I do highly recommend her services as well. All over, a wonderful experience. read more

The person who was helping me, Deana, was super helpful and accommodating to my group (we had two mothers with young infants). after 3 weeks of wedding dress shopping, I found my wedding dress here for fraction of the cost of most dresses I liked. I am a bridesmaid and went with the bride to quite a few dress shops. She was shopping on a budget and not finding anything that really spoke to her. There was a huge selection of every style and size, and I did not see any dress exceeding $400. She ended up finding the dress she had been looking for but wanted to alter it a bit. The seamstress was on sight and helped answer all her questions about what she could do to it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. No appointment necessary. I traveled to Tacoma from Portland because when they first opened they had all the new inventory. I'm so glad I did! I bought my dress there after having tried on over 40 dresses at a variety of different boutiques, consignment and big brand stores. I just bought my wedding dress here a few weeks ago. I am pretty no-fuss, so this was the perfect shopping experience for me. I came in with my mom on a weekday afternoon, there were only two other customers in the shop, and the staff were super helpful (returning dresses to the racks for us, clipping the sleeves and providing information about alterations, etc.). I really didn't even know what kind of dress I was interested in, but was able to find a dress that was beautiful and fit great in under an hour! I ended up paying $800 for a BHLDN (Anthropologie's wedding dress brand) gown that would have retailed for around $1600 originally, and it still had the tags on, so I suspect it was a sample or overstock from last year's styles. Overall great experience, feels good that my money went to a good cause, and it was WAY easier than I ever expected wedding dress shopping would be. Thanks Brides for a Cause :) read more

Let me begin by saying that the staff was very friendly and welcoming and if I were reviewing them only I would give them 5 stars. I support, practice and believe in giving back for a great cause. My fiancé first found BFAC online and after researching and looking through the gallery, I emailed them regarding specific dresses and sizes. The response I received was that even though I was from out of town, about 4 hours drive, I would need to come in to view their selection since I was not inquiring from out of state. I was reassured that I would not be disappointed. So I planned a trip to Tacoma, which included booking a hotel for the weekend since we are from out of town. We visited the Brides For a Cause Tacoma boutique on 9/16/17 and were highly disappointed with the selection or lack thereof. I guess if you are a size 0-6 you might have a better chance of finding one here, but keep in mind wedding dresses run about 2 sizes small. If you are looking for a size 12 and up then you might have a handful to choose from as long as you're not looking for white. We were in and out in 10 minutes without even trying on a dress. Very disappointing! I was well aware of where and how BFAC gets their dresses and did not have unrealistic expectations, nor was I looking for anything out of the ordinary. I had read the reviews before and did not see any regarding the lack of 12 and up sizing so I wanted to give those girls a heads up. Happy wedding dress shopping! read more
