If I could describe Beth Parks in two words (other than 'Beth Parks') the closest thing that comes to mind is Miracle Worker. Seriously amazing. Besides being just a sweet person Beth is the former owner/alterations diva for The Wedding Bell in Tacoma. I had what we will call and incident with my wedding gown. A month and a half before the wedding my dress came in and was WAY too big. And this is not a simple gown, she had to take the back zipper out, there was pleating, beading, the works. I took it to Beth and with one fitting, a few pins and what I can only imagine was hours of hard work I picked up my dress today. It fits and looks fabulous!! I couldn't be happier. I am giving HUGE thanks and props to Beth for saving my dress and making me feel like a princess! If you need any alterations and are in the Puget Sound area she is the one to go to! read more

I found just the wedding dress I was looking for online, and for an excellent price, except that it was way too long and needed some other small alterations since I am only about 5' 1" tall. I walked in thinking that Beth would just hem it and do the "obvious" updates, but once I put the dress on, she had all sorts of wonderful ideas of how to truly make the dress "mine", This of course meant a lot of rework on the dress, so I didn't expect it to be ready until about a month before my wedding, but lo and behold, she had it done at least 2 weeks earlier than I expected. Beth did such an excellent job, my dress is even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, and it is a PERFECT fit! (she even advised me that if my weight fluctuates more than 5-7 pounds before the big day that she may need to adjust). She even had a veil that she had made for another bride who had later changed her mind, and it was the perfect accessory to my dress, even down to having the same beadwork. Thank you so much, Beth - I can't wait to wear my dress, in fact I wish I could try it on every day between now and the wedding. Beth did an amazing job on my dress and was very expedient as well. I was a bridesmaid for my sister's wedding, and although I'm not that short, the dress was quite long. Also, since I'm bustier than most, the dress was measured at the bust line, which made the waistline very loose. She not only altered the dress to match my proportions, but re-imagined the hemline to that when the air caught the hem, it flowed very beautifully. I didn't expect that at all; I just wanted to make sure that I didn't trip on my dress. As bridal salons had suggested in previous bridal party engagements, I made sure to have my alterations taken with the exact undergarments and shoes that I was planning on wearing the day of to make sure that there were no measurement SNAFUs and no suprises. Aside from bloat from Aunt Flo(w), the dress fit perfectly. Her pricing was very reasonable, and I paid far less than what I would have paid anywhere else. I will definitely be visiting again, as I have another sister getting married! read more

Beth did my wedding dress (amazing) and my bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding. She is truly a master at her craft. My wedding gown fit me like a glove and I was so comfortable in it all day and night! My bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding was a horrendous mess before Beth got to it. She somehow managed to take a shapeless, boxy, frumpy piece of material and turn it into an adorable dress! I was the only bridesmaid receiving compliments on my dress at the wedding. I will be back to her for my friend's wedding in October (I'll be 7 months pregnant) and will need her magic touch! read more

This review is long overdue! Beth was beyond amazing. My wedding dress fit perfectly, and she even had alteration suggestions that helped it to fit exactly how I hoped. She took the time to teach me how to properly bustle the dress and care for the dress prior to the ceremony. As my wedding was in February, she even altered the wrap I had so it flowed best with the dress. I can't imagine a better tailor for a wedding dress. I highly recommend Beth. She is not only very skilled but sincerely cares that her brides look their best and are happy with her services. Excellent! read more

I love Beth! She has excellent work ethic. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She treated me like I was the only bride in the world. Her expertise is unsurpassed. I was a little nervous to leave my dress at first because I have seen a few wedding gowns really botched by seamstresses, but she reassured me and made me feel comfortable. Every hem, Every bead was perfectly in place. She added shoulders to my gown and you couldn't even tell. She also gave me an instant boob job! I wasn't sure if I would like my gown bustled, but she made it beautiful! I would highly recommend that you take your wedding gown to her. The worst experience ever! To start, I was sold a dress that was 4 sizes too big and the wedding bell said Elizabeth Parks was the person who could alter it to my size. I took the dress to Elizabeth and she assured me that she could make this dress work! After about 5 or 6 fittings the dress was completely changed from what it had originally looked like and the sewing on the inside was completely different material and sewed poorly. First way too big, then she made it too small and had to add material. Looked very sloppy. The many times I went for a fitting....I suggested that maybe I should just look for another dress cause this one doesn't seem to be working. She kept assuring me not to look for another dress and she was very confident she could make this one work. It definitely did NOT work....the zipper broke and it ripped inside! 5 days before my wedding, I had to borrow a friends dress and take it to a different person for alterations. I would think twice before bringing your wedding dress to Elizabeth Parks. It seems as if she has way too much going on to spend quality time on it. And she is obviously not honest. All she would have needed to say, is that she cannot make it work and I would have looked for another dress. Will never recommend her for alterations! read more

Look no further --- Beth can create the perfect look and fit for you be you male or female, and fitted shirts do look good! That said, I believe her specialty is wedding dress alteration/recreation. I know it's scary to give your wedding gown to someone to alter; everyone probably has a horror story or two about botched wedding dresses. Beth simply cares too much and is too talented to let a dress nightmare occur. read more

I found Beth through yelp and am so grateful that I did! For my wedding, I wore the same dress that both my mother and grandmother did. A trip to the dry cleaners left the lace on the dress in tatters, so I was looking for someone who could hem the dress and replace the lace. Beth has experience working on gown restoration, and knew exactly what needed to be done to make the dress look and fit perfect! Anyone who has purchased a weddding dress knows that alterations aren't cheap. Beth was reasonably priced for her level of skill and incredibly easy to work with. She gave me the option to pick the lace for the dress (with direction), lent me a petticoat for the day-of at no additional cost , and also made my veil. While at my appointments I saw a variety of dress styles that she was working on-I have no doubt she could make any dress fit like a dream. read more

I can't explain the feeling I left with after my first fitting with Beth. She was able to see me right away- the day after calling and made the process stress-free. I purchased my dream gown online- and 4 sizes too small with the hopes that I could loss enough weight to fit in it. Well after 12 weeks and 24 pounds lost, I could finally get the gown on but not zip it up and I was starting to lose hope that I would need to find a new dress. On the initial phone call with Beth (who was available to take my call in the evening) she told me not to worry that she would get me in the dress without even seeing it. I didn't believe her. But then again I didn't realize the caliber of what an amazing seamstress she truly is. I went in for the meeting and with in 10 minutes she had me in my wedding dress!!! It was an amazing moment to finally see the whole picture. Not only in it but she was so kind and helped me shape the dress to me, adding in a bustle, and making my veil work. Though my wedding isn't till August 2012 I made a connection with Beth that I wanted to share. She is the best and I wouldn't trust my alterations to anyone else. Thank you Beth. read more

Long story short- night before my wedding the hem that she did with only ironing heming tape came undone because she forgot to hem the ENTIRE dress. Had a family member save the day and fix the dress the morning of the wedding. All I got was an "oops" and "I'll refund your credit card" which never happened. Really not impressed for spending $500+ for a job that wasn't done correctly or fixed. read more

Does NOT return calls! I don't know if it's because I have a Hawaii telephone number or what not,but I have been trying to call and get a hold of this shop to NO response whatsoever. Our bridesmaid lives in Tacoma and we have an alteration emergency, I was trying to contact them, because of all the good reviews I've seen, but they're either no longer in business or only care about helping certain people and not everyone...very disappointing and unprofessional :( My experience is they do not respond to answering machine messages or return calls :( read more
