Do NOT shop here! My fiancé went in to pick up her dress three days before our wedding and they BUTCHERED if beyond the point where she could wear it. She was devastated. If that was the only hitch we could deal with but immediately the male working that day started telling my emotional fiancé that he'll just take her to court before she could even try to possibly find another dress in that store or anything. He said he'll take her to court, just kept saying that. He was SO rude to her. He was trying to pressure her into keeping the dress and talking down to her. In the end he didn't refund all of her money because he said "now he has a dress nobody could buy"..... Maybe he should charge his seamstress the money he is out because I'm pretty sure my fiancé didn't sew it. They are rude, unaccommodating and obviously incompetent. DO NOT GO THERE! read more

Came in today, completely forgetting that it's best to make appointments & felt a smidge rude when I realized there was another bride. Oops. The lady (I assume the owner/manager but really have no clue) greeted us & told us that we would have to wait a few because there was another bride. We only waited less than 5 min before she began to help me. She asked me when my wedding was, my budget & what kind of dress style I was interested in. I explained to her I was looking for two kinds: short or lacey but nothing too fancy because the venue is casual. Like the previous reviewer, I too was really disappointed in their short dress selection. She right off the bat informed me that they don't really have short dresses in the shop, but directed me to pretty small selection for my budget. Sads. Quickly she picked out 4 that she thought I would like & encouraged us to look around as they found a fitting room for me. From there, she traded me off to one of the sales ladies (i had my own which was quite nice) as she went to help customers in the front. She often came back to check up on the both of us, giving input - I thought she & the sales lady i had were both really nice. The actual experience I had was cool. I didnt feel uncomfortable or pressured or anything negative. They have a cool mirror set up so you can fully see yourself & brightly lit. Of the 4 i tried, i liked 1. It was nothing that I even thought i would like, but I did. Problem is that I didnt LOVE it . But it gave me hope, & at $385, not that bad. You give them your name, phone # on a card with the dress you liked on it for their files. I'm not sure whether I should expect a telemarketer like call in a few weeks or what, or if it's really just in case I end up coming back :) Overall, my experience was pleasant, buuuut there wasn't a lot to choose from in my budget or any that really wowed me. read more

I was very surprised on how much I LOVED my experience here! This store has been around since I was a kid, and they don't have the best window display so I really did judge a book by its cover. This was probably the BEST dress experience I had and the sales woman had her routine down pack. She had every dress ready for me by the time I got myself out of the previous one. She let me speak my mind first on how I liked my dress and then gave her own opinion lightly. They had a great variety of dresses at great price points. This place made my day! I love this store!!!! The lady working there was so nice to us! And we didn't have an appointment. I lost alot of weight and the wedding dress that I had before was to big for me so went in and they were so helpful and found me the perfect dress for my wedding. I think I tried on 8 dress and the 6 dress was the one I liked the most. Its a little expensive. But I just was so happy with the costumer service and was very happy with my dress!!!! I was helped by a women who had worked for this shop for years. I told her my budget for my wedding dress but had no idea what I was looking for. She kept going out of my budget and pressuring me to like a dress. My sisters were trying to find a dress for me, she snatched them from there hands n said "these aren't what she's looking for" when I didn't even have a clear idea of what kind of dress I wanted. My matron of honor and I stopped at Brides and Maidens to look at gowns for my wedding. We had made an appointment and when we arrived were greeted promptly and kindly. The store is nice and not crowded. Things seem to be quite organized. The girl that was helping us led us to the back of the store so that we could look for and try on dresses. We found a few dresses we liked (though they had no halter dresses in stock at all) and were led to the dressing room. The woman I believe to have been the manager then came out to see how things were going. She was nice enough, but what appalled me was that we were told that we could NOT take photos. How are you supposed to remember what each dress looked like without a photo? How can you get feedback from others that aren't at the shop if they can't see the dresses? And it doesn't stop there. They would not even tell us the brand of the dresses we were trying on! When I asked if they could write down what we tried, they only wrote down their internal stock numbers. So, they don't allow photos, and then they won't even tell you what you tried on. Not only can you not look at a photo of what you tried on to help make a decision, but you also can't look it up online since they won't tell you what you tried. That's a heck of a way to run a business. Yes, the staff was nice and so was the store, but the those issues in and of themselves made me NOT want to purchase a dress there. Right after we left, we walked over to Annabelle's bridal, where we did not have an appointment. The staff there was just as nice, but they allowed photos and told us what we were trying on. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place is awful. 3 out of 4 of my fiancée's bridesmaids got their dresses here, and every single dress has had some issue. Let's go dress by dress... 1- The matron of honor's dress was cut too short. Several inches too short. And the hook at the top of the zipper was poorly attached, so it popped right off and we fixed it ourselves. 2- A bridesmaid's dress was not ready when it was supposed to be. Her straps were also measured wrong. After having them measured twice, they were several inches too long. The dress was even ordered in the wrong size. She's a plus size, but it was ordered several sizes larger than it needed to be. So not only did she have to pay extra for a plus size dress, but she then had to pay for the alterations for it to fit her. 3- The youngest bridesmaid, my step daughter, had the worst. Her dress was not ready when we were told it would be because "somebody forgot to write down the sizing for the straps", so she had to be remeasured for them. During this time, my fiancée noticed a snag in the dress, which we were told could be taken out with a steaming. I arrived the following day to pick it up, and they still had not attached the straps or steamed it. The steaming did not take out the snag, and the young lady who brought it out tried to quickly put it in the bag so I would not see. After I stopped her to look at it, I was told that she tried, but any other method of repairing it would make it more noticeable or shorten the dress. Having no choice because our wedding is in a few days, we had to take it with a pathetic discount. The straps were made poorly, any of us could have done a better job with them. And the hook popped off of her's as well, and we are going to repair it ourselves. read more

I wish I could give it zero stars. I bought my wedding dress from Brides N' Maidens back in December for my October wedding. I live in Pasadena (over 3 hours from Visalia) and stopped by the store to see if my sister's veil would match my dress. I was told by the woman working there that I could not see the dress or try it on without an appointment. She was ridiculously rude, and I only wanted to see if the veil matched, I never asked to try the dress on. I explained that I had driven over 3 hours to get there, and she said that the store was just too busy. I wouldn't take no for an answer, so I walked to the back of the store, matched the veil to the dress and left. Three weeks ago I received a call that my dress had finally arrived, and was told I had to make an appointment to try it on. I explained I'd be back in the valley that coming weekend, and I was told once again the store was too busy. I made a specific trip to visit Brides N' Maidens today, with an appointment at 11AM. My family and I showed up at 11, only for the store to be closed, locked, and no one answering the door or phone. I then had to wait over an hour before anyone showed up to the store. The woman that had originally helped me pick out the dress refused to speak to me. I never received an apology and was then handed a sealed bag with no explanation. It was my wedding dress that cost nearly $2000, but no one could be bothered enough to take it out of the bag, or turn it right side out. No one helped me into my dress, or even tried to help me put it back in the bag when I was done. Then the lady had the audacity to say that I couldn't take the dress because it needed to stay for alterations. I am taking my dress elsewhere for alterations and recommend that NO ONE ever shop at Brides N' Maidens. BEWARE BRIDES!!!! read more

Extremely disappointed in the non existent customer service we received while here for a bridal appointment today!! The staff were not friendly or helpful did not ask any questions about the bride or wedding. We had 4 bridesmaids looking for dresses as well as a bridal gown and NO HELP!!! I was quite impressed with this little store. I stumbled upon it while just out window shopping for dresses. My bridal party and I we quite disappointed by some of the shops we had been in but decided to try this one out. I was surprised by the amount of snobbish behavior that greeted us as some of the other places. Let's be honest here people, this is Visalia not Beverly Hills! But when we walked into Brides N Maidens we were instantly greeted with smiles, even though we had not made an appointment. I was told that, obviously, the other bride would have priority but they were attentive and very helpful. When I tried on the first dress I really liked it. Decided to step out to the mirrors they had and was happy with what I saw, but not in LOVE. During that moment the owner of the shop walked up behind asked me to put my arms up, squeezed the back of the dress (to show what it would look like altered) and I INSTANTLY fell in love. He talked me through the dress as I stood there and made me feel like I was the only bride in the shop. Customer service is huge to me and this was the first place we had been in where I didn't feel like I intruding on someone else's party. I would highly recommend this little shop to anyone who is looking for a dress. read more

Brides 'n Maidens has been in business for over 30 years that I have known. My mom bought her wedding gown there and I bout my first formal gown there and now I am marrying the man that took me to my first dance. I when wedding dress shopping last night and had a great experience. The owners are slightly introverted as well as the sales girls. I understand to SOME this can be taken as rude.I found that the owners are especially knowledgeable and know what is best from years of experience. (response to negative post) I liked 3 out of 5 dresses that were chosen for me. The female owner did a great job meeting my needs and answering my questions. this is the 5th place I've tried on gowns and I believe I will be saying "YES TO THE DRESS SOON" I highly recommend trying this small showroom out. read more

I got my wedding dress here back in March 2015, and I absolutely love it. The staff here was extremely helpful with scheduling my fittings prior to the wedding, and the alterations were perfect. I got a great deal for the dress and alterations, from a gentlemen (the manager, maybe?) when I first tried it on, he offered the dress for $150 off, with 50% off alterations and hemming. The pricing was very fair to me, and I also had them add buttons for the bustling ($24 extra). Overall, I had a great experience getting my dress here! read more

Buyer beware. Don't even bother going here. They have nice dresses and will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy it, but once you've paid for it, they're rude and incompetent. I bought my wedding dress here and paid for it completely. The alterations were a huge disappointment every time I came in. She just could seem to get it right and the dress kept getting worse every time. I was supposed to pick it up a week before my wedding and the dress didn't even fit me when I went to pick it up. I made arrangements to pick it up at the seamstresses home and then the next day got a call from the manager saying I had to pick it up 3 days before my wedding, when I was working and that I owed them $286.00 for the work. When I questioned her about the cost, she accused me of wearing a different bra for my appointments, which was a lie. I only have one strapless bra and bought it specifically for the dress. They lied to us multiple times and refused to work with us, telling us at one point that the seamstress wasn't there when I came back to the store and found her there. The manager argued with me and my mom on the phone, accusing me about the bra and refusing to let my mom speak to the owner, telling her at first that he wasn't there and then saying she wouldn't let her talk to him when she questioned her about it. It's a week before my wedding and now I have to deal with the stress of not knowing if I'll have a wedding dress on my wedding day. Save yourself the stress and go someone else for your dress. read more

WARNING! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!!! Reasons why: 1.) they lost all of our bridesmaid dresses "it fell of a truck" 2.) horribly rude!!!!!!! I have never been treated with such disrespect in my entire life. 3.) they said they would make dresses that looked like the dresses we ordered- dresses came back torn, uneven, cheap, not seamed, etc... 4.) after everything, they still did not offer a discount. They gave us free alterations on dresses that were supposedly custom made. 5.) when the owner was told about the dresses he told us he had to pay $1300 for our material and we should be thankful we even got a dress. He told us we could just go elsewhere...(2 days before the wedding) 6.) The young employee girl (not the youngest one) told me that the other bridesmaid's dress that was falling apart was not my concern and that I should worry about my own dress (which is uneven, tight, pokey, and itchy) She said that the particular bridesmaid tried on the dress 5x and had to get several alterations done. -if the seamstress did It right the first time she wouldn't have had to go back 5x.- she just argued about the bridesmaid not getting it fixed in the moment. She was avoiding the fact that the dress shouldn't have fallen apart in the first place!!!!!! 7.) the seamstress did not speak a word of English. I live in Maryland and was visiting my sister and my niece who are stationed in Lemoore. We were shopping for bridesmaid dresses on Saturday and they do indeed have a lovely selection of Bill Levkoff dresses. I explained that my wedding was in June but that I needed to find something that my East Coast maids could order as well as my bridesmaids were all spread out. The young woman who was supposed to be helping us treated us like she couldn't be bothered. She spent more time dressing a mannequin then helping us. We were not allowed to take pictures and were told that they don't give out style numbers. So even though my sister and my niece found dresses they liked we did not buy them there. We had lunch then went across the street and found the dresses at Annabelle's who was happy to let us take pics to share and to give us style numbers to come back and purchase next month. My wedding dress was purchased at Kleinfeld's and I've tried dresses on in multiple locations up and down the East Coast. All let us take pictures to share and decide. These policies are not indicative of most modern salons and they were extremely unhelpful and rude. I would never purchase anything here. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. Where do I even begin. 1. Service is awful. Everyone is so RUDE and does not make you FEEL SPECIAL for such a big day of your life. 2. Two weeks before my wedding I went in for my fitting and my veil was not ordered. When I asked why not , there answer was " I'm the only one that does the ordering and no one told me". I said " How is that my fault". but wait it gets even WORSE! The day of my wedding ( which was in LA" I go to open my dress and my belt that I purchased was not in the bag. ( speaking of the bag they give you a little plastic one, not a nice zip up one ). I called the lady and all she said is can someone come pick it up. I was able to have someone pick it up that was on there way to LA. They only refunded half of the belt. This place made my wedding such a stressful day. And nothing was ever done on time or the correct way. Also when my bridesmaid went to pick up her dress they were about to let her just walk out with it without paying. My friend is honest so she mentioned it to the cashier. This place is ran with chickens with their head cut off! NO ONE GO THERE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend it. I had gone in to have my wedding dress altered. The lady that originally helped me was kind and understood my vision and told me it could be done even though I was under tight time constraints. So I called three times to just check in to be sure everything was coming along. Each time I called I was received rudely. Nothing was brought up as to the progress or not being able to fulfill my vision. When the time came for me to pick up my dress; I arrive with family in tow, and what they brought me was absolutely horrific. Nothing or nowhere close to the vision discussed. They butchered the dress and the lady I originally worked with was nowhere to be found and I was instead getting answers from an employee who wasn't even present at the time of udiscussion. She told me that this mess they brought me was what was agreed and that what I wanted couldn't be done. Did I receive a phone call letting me know that they couldn't go with the original plan? No. It is absolutely butchered and I will be sure to warn friends and family about the lack of communication on this company's end. read more

The staff is so rude especially the manager. The dresses are expensive and they take months to arrive. They can't estimate when they will arrive which made me nervous. They made my experience an awful one. I had never been treated this way in my life! They really need to educate themselves on customer service and try to make the bridesmaids and bride feel special! The dresses we ordered were ordered in June and they didn't come till august! The manager had told me they wouldn't arrive till sept 9! One week before my wedding! They wanted to charge us 40 dollars per person more to have them rushed on top of the 170 dollars they had already paid! They also get you like two sizes bigger so that they will have to be altered! They charge alot for alterations! Ladies beware make sure u know your dress size and don't let them order u bigger sizes because it's just a way to make more money off of you! I also think the staff doesn't know how to measure correctly! I will admit they have some nice dresses but there very expensive. Another thing if u don't bring a strapless bra for your fitting they won't let you even try it on! It's crazy how they make such a big deal of everything! On one occasion I spoke to the manager because I just wanted to clarify some issues and she was rude on the phone and hung up on me! Went to this shop a few months ago looking at bridesmaid dresses for myself to wear as my bridal gown for my informal wedding. Salesperson was a bit rude and dismissive, not at all helpful. Called last week to schedule an appointment to look at bridal gowns. Told the person on the phone specifically what I am looking for (short bridal gown, ivory silk taffeta or shantung), wedding date (May 19), etc. Show up to my appointment and they have only pulled out the two bridesmaid dresses I tried on before (they kept a card on file under my name, apparently) no bridal gowns ready for me at all. I am then informed that I don't have time to order anything in the store before my wedding date anyway because they have a 12 week lead time and they don't take rush orders so I'd have to buy off the rack. Ok, fine, I can work with that, but maybe you should have given me that information when I called to schedule my appointment. Then, when I begin to look at dresses...without only minimal assistance from the same rude salesgirl I had on my prior visit...they only have one short bridal dress in the store! And, it is white and satin and not at all what I said I was looking for. What a waste of my time! If I tell you my wedding date and you know that I couldn't possibly order a dress from you in time, tell me. If I have to shop off the rack and I tell you what I am looking for and you know you don't have it, tell me. Poor service all around. I only gave two stars because they have a better selection of somewhat fashionable bridesmaid dresses than the other bridal shops on Main and they often have sample sale items that are worth checking out. I bought a satin ball gown a couple of years ago for $40. Avoid it if you can and if you can't, expect poor service so you won't be disappointed. read more
