The whole team did such a great job with my dog, Tiny. He had to get a splenectomy, and Dr. Murray was very informative and transparent about the procedure. Tiny unfortunately passed 5 months later from something else, but the team was so sweet and sent a card with their condolences. I truly hope I never have to come back with my future dog, but I know they'll be the first I go to for excellent care. read more

I don't leave reviews, but I feel compelled to in this instance. Over a year ago, we were told our 13.5 y/o dog, Lucky, had a recurring acanthomatous ameloblastoma - mass in his mouth - and were directed to Dr Tripp at BARC. After a few frantic days on google as a non expert, we had worked ourselves into some serious anxiety. She understood. She met us with compassion, listened, and laid out all his treatment options and was very clear around prognosis of each method of potential treatment. She showed examples, data and her past experience/recommendations and helped us make an extremely informed decision on a treatment plan. Ultimately, Lucky was treated with ECT and it was successful. He is happy, healthy, and no recurrence in over a year. He even got to keep all his teeth. We are luckier than most and his response was terrific. Why I'm leaving the review is less to do with outcome however. I'm leaving the review because of the care received. From start to finish. The empathy we were met with and the straightforward nature of the communication. It's scary and you don't know how it's gonna turn out. They made it feel like a team effort and understood. THIS PLACE KILLED MY CAT! He was coming for cancer treatments and had only been 3 times. On his third and last visit they took fluid out of his abdomen and when I picked him up he was acting strange and breathing hard. I took him right back in from the parking lot and they looked at him for a couple minutes in the back and told me he was fine to go home. I brought him home and was watching him, I called them before they closed because he was still acting strange and they continued to tell me it was from the chemo drugs and sedation he got from the procedure they gave him and he would be fine once it wore off. Well HE WASNT! I woke up at 1 am to check on him and he was DEAD! THEY KILLED HIM! They either caused internal bleeding from the procedure they did on him and didn't care to check and make sure there wasn't any before letting me take him home, or they gave him too much drugs. I'm not sure which but he died that night because of THEM! Sure he had cancer, but he wouldn't have died that night from his cancer. If I never brought him in that day he wouldn't have died that night! Whatever they did to him that day while he was there killed him! I will never forgive them for that... and for not caring at all when I called and was worried. They brushed it off and kept telling me he would be fine, I trusted them! He was NOT fine, and now my cat is gone... I WILL NEVER bring another animal to this place! I would rather drive across the Country to ANY other facility than to take another animal here! DONT BRING YOUR LOVED PETS HERE! UPDATE: since the Owner wants to respond and act like they didn't do anything wrong I'll post this in hopes they see it too. YOU DID NOT talk about how bad his condition was, every time I was there I was constantly told how his labs were increasing and how good of a chemo candidate he was by all the people who I saw him and who I spoke with. Like I mentioned in my first comment, the last day I was there and picked him up he was breathing weird and acting funny and i immediately took him back in. They took him for 5 minutes and then told me he was fine to go home and the straight quote from the lady who gave him back to me was "he has no breathing blockages and the Dr said he is fine to go home." You took him for 5 minutes in the back, how could you even know he had an issue!? That's not enough time to go check! You did a procedure on him that day to remove fluid, DID YOU CHECK TO MAKE SURE THERE WASNT ANY INTERNAL BLEEDING!? The 5 minutes you had him back definitely wasn't enough time to check for that! Also when I called back regarding his condition the woman on the phone kept telling me he was acting weird from the sedation and chemo meds and that he'd be fine. Yes, they said if I am really concerned that I CAN take him to the overnight clinic, they kept reassuring me he WAS FINE! Why would I take him and spend more money and put him through more crap if he didn't need it? IM NOT THE EXPERTS! You are supposed to be! Y'all should have told me it was urgent and to take him, not tell me his is fine and that I can take him "IF I WANT". Your lack of caring cost him his life!!! All you people did was tell me how good he was doing and that he'd be fine, then all of a sudden he has issues after leaving there and then dies that night and now your tune changes to "he was in a bad place with his cancer, we suggested taking him to an overnight" which is bullcrap.. You didn't suggest CRAP! Y'all weren't saying anything like that when I was paying $1000 a week during his weekly visits!! Once he died from y'all lack of care and professionalism you all of a sudden change your tune... What a load of hot garbage! read more

I brought one of our dogs here for a CT scan. It was easy to drop him off, professional staff, easy pick up. Quality report with the imaging. It's expensive, but it's a CT scan for a dog, so what do you expect? the surgeon who looked at the report later said the report was well done and had a lot of detail that was helpful to him, so I appreciated that. We were also able to get in here a lot faster for the scan than anywhere else in the Seattle metro area. Recommended and would use them again if needed. read more

Dr. Mullins, their scheduling coordinator, Bree, and the whole BARC staff were absolutely wonderful during one of the most uncertain, stressful, and scary times for my pup and I. I found and reached out to BARC after finding a lump on my dog's neck, which his primary vet completely dismissed. Thankfully, the BARC team responded to my inquiry right away and squeezed me into the first CT scan appointment they had available, even if time for a consult with a doctor was not going to be available until a few weeks after, and even without a primary vet referral. During the CT scan appointment, the BARC team literally went above and beyond. They offered to run additional blood work on my dog to officially rule out his primary vet's tentative diagnosis (Addison's disease), which I was feeling skeptical about, while dr. Mullins stepped in to give me her professional option and advice on what might be going on with my dog even though he technically wasn't her immediate patient yet. She made sure to follow up via email to check in the following week and again guide me towards a diagnosis/next steps after his CT scans were ready. With BARC's help and the CT scans, I was able to get my dog booked for surgery to remove his tumor in a matter of weeks. Cannot recommend BARC enough to all those who are dealing with the challenges and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis or suspicion of one. This is the most supportive team you could ask for. read more

Dr Van Hesteren lead the treatment for Lady. She was referred after her lymphoma was pretty advanced so the treatment focused on extending life and improving quality of life. The staff at BARC all worked hard to make a stressful time a bit easier by providing clear communication and empathy. As we expected, treatment did extend her life and gave her a few really good months, but ultimately the cancer took over. The staff followed up after she died, to provide support and sent a really thoughtful and personalized memorial gift. The support staff here are amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and relayed detailed instructions clearly. In the sympathy card we received after Lady died, it made a big difference to have the staff write notes that showed they really knew and loved Lady. Thank you. read more

I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with BARC witch is the perfect acronym for one of the best animal hospitals I've ever seen! They were nothing but professional from my first contact all the way through this last visit. I arrived late (so sorry) and they still let my lil baby OLIVE be seen. I went to the wrong place somehow and while driving to BARC all the thoughts went through my head if I had to reschedule. You see Olive is a little 9.5 pound Yorkie Cavalier. She is ABSOLUTELY the most precious, calm, loving, playful, and so so so cute. I would give up anything in my life for this dog. She's very smart and shows it by telling me when she's hungry, when she's gotta go potty, or whatever else she needs. She pretty much barks a couple times to grab my attention. Since she rarely barks I know what's up. Then once I look at her she walks to whatever she needs. I can't tell you how convenient that is! Anyway, Olive is 100% irreplaceable. I've spent her entire life giving her the best life a dog can have because she deserves it. She loves me so much and it's really obvious. A lot of people say they can tell by the way she looks at me. So now you can kinda understand how freaked out I've been since finding this MAMMORY TUMOR or whatever it's officially called? I'm a grown man who can't remember the last time I've cried. Well I can now, I've sat with my baby w tears telling her how strong I need her to be during all this and she knows I don't wanna know a life without her. So you can see this is an extremely important thing in my life and means EVERYTHING to me. So to be late and still be seen is huge. I couldn't live w myself if we missed the appt and time took over. These folks are in such his demand it took me nearly a month to get her in for the first appt. They asked if I wanted to be on a waitlist in the 3rd spot? I think u know that answer. I was really happy when they called me a little over a week later and said "We can see Olive on the 17th!!!". That appt made it 20 days earlier!! That too was really awesome!! The first appt was in the parking lot! In my Escalade! They kindly brought out a tablet and the Dr. was OUTSTANDING at explaining everything so I could understand. She was so detailed I felt a lot better about the whole thing but still a wreck. I told her book whatever is 100% best for my baby Olive. I don't care what it costs there's no other option. We set the date for this coming April 4th 2022. I was really hoping for something sooner but I took it. Shortly after the really awesome assistant called back and said. We have an opening on the 30th of March!!! Almost a full week sooner!! You know that answer too!! So now we wait. I've been giving her lots of walks and the best food she can eat. Not that I haven't always but we do walk a bit longer. Please pray with me that all goes well. I will update this review as time passes. I hope so so so so so much she gets thru this with no issues and she's back to herself in no time. read more

It is tremendous luck for us to have met Dr. Tripp at BARC. My cat, Bome, has been undergoing treatment for lymphoma since 2020. When sarcoma was discovered under his tongue in 2022, we moved him to BARC, where we met Dr. Tripp. Dr. Tripp enrolled Bome in a gold nanoparticle clinical trial and treated the sarcoma, which has not recurred to date. During Bome's recent ECG, Dr. Tripp promptly made the decision to drain the fluid from the pericardial effusion, allowing him to breathe much more comfortably. Now, we have discovered a new sarcoma under Bome's skin near his chest, and we are currently discussing additional diagnosis and treatment options with Dr. Tripp regarding it. We believe that Bome's ability to receive effective cancer treatment and manage his health is thanks to Dr. Tripp. I believe she is a veterinarian with medical expertise based on genuine concern for patients and a strong sense of professionalism. I brought my pup Khloe here after an MRI showed two growths near her liver and she had stopped eating and drinking (she had been hospitalized for that and once stable they recommended an oncology appointment). Best decision I ever made. The staff was very, very responsive and Dr Becky Murray was wonderful to work with. She was able to remove 2 tumors successfully and Khloe only required 1 overnight stay. She healed extremely well and quickly began eating and drinking again on her first day home. She was able to start her walks with my other pups again, has the energy she used to have and is playful again. I will be forever grateful for their kindness, professionalism and care. Do NOT see Dr. Hodgson whatever you do. When my dog had eyesight loss, Dr. Hodgson said she had glaucoma and did not recommend further testing. I reached back out to him when my dog began circling. He did not respond despite my repeated emails. My primary vet then suggested I see a neurologist. My dog had a brain tumor, 40% the size of her brain (even large brain tumors usually are 25% of the brain size). I have spoken to other vets and they said it is standard to do additional testing when a dog goes suddenly blind. I would NEVER recommend anyone ever bring their dog to Dr. Hodgson. read more

They took very good care of my puppy Ivy. The doctor took the time to explain in detail what was happening to my baby , why it was happening and what he planned on doing to correct the situation. He even made the time to start fixing her eyes right away. I have an old English bulldog with eye lid issues. While most vets want to take all your money and just go straight for surgery. Dr. Hodgson felt she didn't need the surgery and her issue could be fixed with a much cheaper and safer procedure. She is already more active and happier and it's only been a few days. My dog fought cancer for 3 years. Dr. Tripp and Dr. Ferguson compassionately inform you of all options, make recommendations and take the lead from the pet owner for treatment. I was not surprised to find out from another pet owner that they travel to Edmonds to Veterinary Cancer Specialty Care from British Columbia and know of another person who does the same thing for treatment for their dog. Cancer is not something you ever want to go through, for a human or a pet. Dr. Tripp and Dr. Ferguson make that journey a little easier with their care and compassion. This facility is amazing! Several family members and I took Prince there a few days ago. To be blunt, no one wants to have to take their beloved animal companion to an oncologist. Having said that, when our 12-year-old lab Pippa was diagnosed with an aggressive mast cell cancer early this past fall, we were so thankful to have the vets at BARC as a resource. The vets are wonderful, especially Dr Tripp and Dr Ferguson. They're knowledgeable, resourceful, compassionate, and readily available. The clinic is warm and welcoming, not depressing like you might think. And the supporting staff, both reception and vet techs, have always been helpful and kind to us. Unfortunately, Pippa's cancer was determined not to be operable, as it had already spread to her lymph nodes and liver by the time she was diagnosed (her regular vet had erroneously diagnosed the malignancy as a benign spindle cell tumor until it formed an external lesion). With BARC's expertise and care, we tried out four different types of chemotherapies- unfortunately Pip's cancer really wasn't responsive to any of them. We then made the choice to switch over to palliative care, also through BARC (as opposed to her regular vet). I'm heartbroken to say that Pippa's battle with cancer will end in the next day or two when we put her to sleep at home (using a provider referred to us by BARC). But we believe that BARC gave us extra time with Pip at a high quality of life. Seven precious months. We feel like we gave Pippa the best chance at a long and happy life, despite having an incurable cancer, and that BARC was absolutely instrumental in that. We only wish we could have used them as a regular vet the entire time we lived in the area with Pip. Thank you, BARC, for the compassionate care you showed to us and, more importantly, to our cherished Pippa. read more

My dog is alive today (one year later) only because I took her away from this practice. They did everything in their power to place obstacles in the way of my dog's care. They refused a CT scan, grudgingly phenotyped her lymphoma (which opened up options for the successful T cell immunotherapy that subsequently put my dog into remission which BARC was totally unable to do).My dog had a 10 cm intestinal mass (lymphoma) and chemotherapy had failed to put her into remission. The mass was growing and it was only a matter of time before it perforated her intestines and she died a painful death. I wanted the mass surgically excised before it perforated her intestines and also to debulk the tumor to give chemotherapy a better chance. Dr Piscoya clung to an idea that my dogs lymphoma was diffusely throughout her intestines and therefore surgery would not be successful. However she did nothing to confirm her (incorrect) belief. I offered to take my dog to UC Davis where they had a PET/CT to see if they could find evidence of diffuse disease. She told me that my dog wouldn't be a candidate for that type of imaging because PET/CT isn't both sensitive and specific. Those are epidemiologic terms that she clearly didn't understand. All we needed was the sensitivity to be high. Specificity was not of interest. That was the moment I realized she was going to do nothing except be a gatekeeper to surgery and any other treatment modality. She appears to base all her clinical management on 3 academic papers. Frank 2007, Rassnick 2009, and Sogame 2018. Perhaps if she understood that those papers are all retrospective in design, used data from multiple institutions, have small numerators and that results from retrospective studies cannot be generalized to the population of dogs at large, maybe she wouldn't have allowed my dogs lymphoma to get to the point where the tumor started to perforate her intestines. When the tumor started perforating my dogs intestines ( an emergency) and she was going to die within hours, BARC sent me off with a scrap piece of paper from the recycling bin with a surgeons name scrawled on it for me to call and set up an emergency surgery. They didn't even send us on with antibiotics on board as prophylaxis for the pending release of intestinal contents into her abdomen. Thankfully, I had already made my own arrangements for surgery without them knowing. So when my dog's intestines started to perforate I was all set to go. If I'd had to chase down the surgeon on the scrap piece of paper, my dog would have died before I got there and even if I had got there, the surgeon may have been told (falsely) that my dog had diffuse disease and she would have been euthanized. If your dog needs Entyce, they charge $150 per bottle versus $50 that my regular vet and other specialty clinic charge. I've updated them with my dogs progress but they are so unprofessional that they can't even feign a happy reply. It must be embarrassing to have failed so epically. The chalk board with your pups name on it when you come into the facility is all choreography. And you can bet they tell you "We all love (insert your dogs name)". read more

I also posted this review on the Bridge Animal Referral Clinic (BARC) page because I believe they may be the same clinic (I called the contact info for this center and when I arrived at the clinic the sign outside showed BARC). My 15 year old cat showed signs of liver cancer and I searched around for the best oncology care. Dr. Tripp was recommended by my regular vet and she was incredible. The facility is nice and the care my cat received was totally worth the drive up from Seattle. Dr. Tripp and all the vet techs were compassionate and very open about all my cat's healthcare. They compiled a detailed past health history by contacting former vets (even out of state). Dr. Tripp presented numerous treatment options and explanations of procedures. The cost of all the procedures was even discussed before they took place. I loved the transparency, innovation, and genuine compassion given to my kitty (even though she is a crabby old lady)! My senior munchkin cat was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma and received treatment at BARC. Dr. Tripp and Dr. Ferguson and all of the staff were wonderful, and the chemo treatments were tolerated well, allowing Tiger Lily to have another year and a half of good health. The clinic was always clean and friendly, and care was coordinated with my local clinic to minimize impact. I am glad to have made the decision for treatment, it was managed to provide the best quality of life with minimal discomfort, and Tiger Lily was able to live her normal happy life. Dr. Tripp and her staff are AMAZING! They understand how much you love your animal and sincerely care. Dr. Tripp is compassionate and extremely smart. She treated my sweet duck Elvis for leukemia. Not your typical house pet, and Dr. Tripp treated Elvis as if he was a prized race horse. With love and compassion. When Elvis took a bad turn, she cleared her schedule and did a duck blood transfusion on him to try and clear the dead cells out. And no, it wasn't outrageously expensive. She gave our boy more time with his family. I loved Dr. Tripp's approach to treatment. She has this infectious fighting spirit against cancer that gives you strength when your heart is breaking over your pets diagnosis.
