We didn't know…read morewhat to expect; because a lot of stand up Comedians tend to be vulgar, mock the audience, and are not very funny. Which is why we haven't been to one in a very long time. The place maybe in the wilderness but, it's an amazing venue and very comfortable inside. The seats are staggered well enough so you can see over anyone's head, and you're not very far from the stage. It was a little over two hours with a short intermission in the middle of several comedian's routines. There are some very light refreshments, wine, and soft drinks. It would have been nice if there was something a little more substantial then candy bars and bags of chips. That's the only complaint. Otherwise, I would go again. But I would eat first.

I came down for a special showing of a film, and was captivated by this small but extremely…read morethoughtfully-run cinema. (OK, I guess theater, since they're also set up for live events, the stage looks super fun). While the original place has clearly been chopped up a bit, as these things have happened over the years, to make multiple screens, the smaller main theater retains much of its original charm. The sound was among the best I've ever heard -- forget the mall theaters with their cookie cutter speaker systems, this place feels like the audio has actually been tuned to the space. Not too loud but utterly clear and encompassing. Throw in interesting programs and very, very reasonable concession prices on top of super friendly staff, even though the Orpheum is quite a haul for us, we are definitely returning, especially for the special festival programming. Now I want to buy some merch so I can spread the word.

Yeah, we're fans. The Opera House is a magnificent historical landmark in Thomaston. We've been to…read moredozens of shows here (hosted by Landmark Community Theatre) and consistently come away with wonderful experiences. The shows are first-rate, whether locally produced or visiting artists, whether for adults or youngsters, and we plead prejudice since we've appeared on stage in a few of them. That aside, the staff here couldn't be friendlier and more helpful, the newly renovated interior is clean and lovely and the seating mostly comfortable (the leg room can get to be an issue without an intermission, however) and they have some nice snacks and drinks for patrons.
