I lived here for almost a year and was filled with so much headaches !! You're better off living somewhere else I experienced ROACHES in apartment 9107 within 24 hours of the lease, I thought it was a one time thing but as time progressed the situation got worse. I would spend hours and multiple days a week thoroughly cleaning only to be unable to escape the roaches. I would reach out to management and they would get services for pest control but it never worked, the roaches kept on coming. When I asked to be switched to a different apartment, they said I wouldn't be able to due to my lease agreement and they even admitted that it was just my building (not just my floor, not just my apartment) that had the issue. Ok....... well do BETTER and fix it?! My fridge was always going off, so I would have to throw food away every other week. I would call maintenance but they said to just watch the temperature... how about you fix it or replace it instead? Management said they would change my fridge, give me a voucher, and reduce the rent because of it but they never did even after I kept reminding them. My closet door didn't even reach the door stopper... They withheld my security deposit because they needed to clean the carpets, paint the walls, and clean the apartment. read more

I take care of my elderly mother who was medical issues. Last night our ac stopped working. I put in a service request and Frank came the next day. He was so sweet and fixed the ac and went above and beyond and looked at my washing machine for me. The water lines were crossed. He didn't have to do that extra thing for me, but he did. Don't believe the 5 star reviews! This property is infested with roaches! I've been trying to get a refund from Essex and I still haven't heard back from them. If you're thinking about renting here, make sure you read and believe the multiple negative reviews, especially about the roaches. I wish this company had the decency to refund the rent I paid while living in a roach infested unit that they knew about and willingly leased to me. read more

I strongly do not recommend living here. The management and leasing office are consistently dishonest and fail to follow through on even the simplest requests. For one of the most expensive apartment complexes in the SCV, this place is shockingly subpar-- from poor, old building quality, thin walls and broken appliances to completely ineffective management and service. The maintenance process is a joke. They routinely use broken or faulty parts as quick fixes instead of properly addressing issues, clearly cutting corners to save costs. Complaints are not taken seriously -- management will sound polite over the phone, promising to resolve issues, but they never follow through and lie to your face. When I moved in, my unit was filthy. Vents were clogged with dust, appliances were broken, as were window screens, blinds and door knobs. Despite being operated by a multi-billion dollar company, they still engage in the kind of cheap practices you'd expect from a negligent landlord -- like painting over everything white without cleaning first. There were so many hairs in the bathroom that they didn't clean before painting, that the hairs ended up painted onto the walls. Avoid unit 7305 at all costs. The tenants in the unit below constantly blast music at all hours, even at 3am on a weekday, using an amp or subwoofer that does not belong in an apartment. Despite multiple complaints, management did nothing. I had better luck contacting LASD directly. Overall, this is a terrible place to live. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. I lived here for one year. On move-in day, they had not even completed replacing kitchen sink faucet. I had to report windows in living room could not be shut because they were both cockeyed; huge hole in one screen. Residents are required to complete check-in form of condition of apartment. Tub was not clean, stove drawer had not been clean (full of dust, dirt and crumbs) burn marks on bathroom wall above lights, bathroom exhaust fan bearings were gone so that it was noisy and never kept moisture out during showers, chipped walls, etc. All was reported on form. Fridge broke down while there; replaced with an even older, outdated model. When asked for a brand new one, I was told it would take months for them to order one. A few days prior to moving out, a walkthrough was done by maintenance with no one there. I was received a report saying I was to be charged for complete carpet replacement, apartment painting and full cleaning. I immediately called and complained that I hadn't even moved my things out and was told that was only preliminary report. They never changed the report and deducted the charges from my security deposit plus billed me for nearly $300 more. Plus, they reported to Experian that I was late with my final rent payment nearly 45 days after I moved out. I filed a complaint with Experian sending them all documentation, including unanswered emails to Bridgeport. They even tried claiming the rug had been replaced prior to my moving in and was going to charge me for brand new carpet after only 1 year. I never ever wore shoes in my apartment. They were left at the door. Won my appeal with Experian and did receive refund for carpet replacement and cleaning, not the painting, which is illegal. Residents are not to be charged for painting if it's normal wear and tear. I never hung one single item in the unit. I have reported Bridgeport to the office of Attorney General and urge anyone else who has had money fraudulently withheld by Bridgeport to do the same. read more

We are still considering moving to the apartments as they are lovely and spacious, and the staff is also lovely and special and kind. Terrible place to live. They make it seem nice before you move in to convince you to accept their grossly over-priced rents, and then after you move in is when you get the ACTUAL experience. Right away we knew something was up when their "move in" form had many items checked off as "perfect condition" when those items were literally non-existent in the unit; The unit did not come with those items yet they expected you to acknowledge they were "perfect" instead of saying "N/A" or something far more Honest. Contract signer beware. I called my lawyer who told me not to sign the contract unless those items were removed, and they replied by telling me, "Sign it or else," to which I replied, "you want to talk to my lawyer about it?" They then replied "ok just cross out the N/A items." Typical Essex idiocy. Completely unresponsive administrative team who is never at the property, literally. They keep downsizing their staff to the point where no one answers any phones and all you can do is pray they get back to you, which they do not always do. The "security" there is an absolute joke. I had my bicycle stolen and I had packages stolen from my doorstep. When I commented to them about putting cameras in the hallways they replied with a bunch of absolute blame-shifting idiocy that it would violate privacy.... Um, No... I checked the local laws, it would be fine, but Essex admin are just cheapskates and do not actually care about tenant security in any way whatsoever. Their so called "security service" is nothing more than a glorified gate-locker for the pool - no joke that's honestly 99% of what they do - and outside of that they are utterly useless and do next to nothing. Getting any amenities on the property fixed is wishful thinking. They took Nine (9) Months to simply replace burned out light bulbs in the mini-gym despite a huge number of requests to do so, and that is a perfect example of what you can expect. They will charge you for a share of utilities even if you are away completely - we were gone for 6 weeks and still got slapped with over $100 in utilities (water, garbage, sewer, etc) from the aptly named "Con-Service" as you get conned by them. Before we moved in, I asked them Very Specifically if there would be any new construction and was told definitively "No." Complete lie, and they shut down the pool for 4 months to put in new, much-less-safe pavers when the previous pool deck was perfectly fine, and when asked why they did that their answer was the old deck wasn't pretty enough, to which I replied "for whom?" Lots and lots of Loud Noise that we got to deal with from 8am to 5pm for those 4 months, not including the times when I had to personally go out to the pool and remind the contractors that they were supposed to stop at 5pm, not 6pm etc. To add insult to injury, they thereafter decided to retrofit the roofs over all the parking spaces over three months more of loud noise, forcing people into the extremely limited non-assigned parking resulting in many nights parked at Panera Bread where they have tow away signs so you just had to take your chances. Compensation for loss of pool amenities or loss of "included" parking? Maybe a discount on rent? You must be dreaming. Not with the pathetically greedy people who run Bridgeport Essex. Now add to this picture a strictly off-site "team" of admin folk who do not return calls, who misinform, and who make clerical errors (e.g. they lost my proof of renters insurance) and charge you for items which you then get to argue about with them. Lastly add the "Rent Cafe" web portal which is where you pay rent, and which makes errors and mistakes constantly which you again get to argue with the admin to sort it out, with those extremely lazy folks being very reluctant to do so. Case in point: I would never, ever recommend anyone move into Bridgeport Essex. read more

We have finally moved out from Bridgeport Coast Apartments after 4 years of living in this community. We were fortunate enough to be able to afford to have our own place this year but moving out was bittersweet. From the day we moved in 4 years ago til the day we moved out a couple days ago, the entire staff from Victoria, Maria, Kathy, Martin, Bryan, etc... have been excellent. They are friendly, courteous and professional, keeping the community clean, safe and well managed. We have put in numerous maintenance requests over the years and Martin and his team are always quick to respond. Management will also hold events throughout the year like food truck nights and door decorating contests for prizes. We are definitely going to miss living in this community. We have always felt taken care of here and now we are basically on our own. If you are looking for a place to call home, temporarily or long term, this is an amazing place to stay. Leaving Bridgeport after 3 years here and here is my honest review. This place was great we started in a 1bed 1bath really no issues at all maybe 1 roach here and there during summer time only. Then we moved into a 2bed 2 bath when we moved in there was a lot going on broken washer, broken windows, garbage disposal not working, blinds not working. Maintenance did a great job at finishing all the issues. Overall staff is wonderful at responding and fixing things promptly. The hardest thing at our bigger unit was the neighbors. Our neighbor next to us gave us carpet beetle not very fun but we got it fixed ASAP they sprayed our apartment and thankfully those neighbors moved out lol and once a homeless man pulled the fire alarm around 3am after getting kicked out by security, but not much the staff can do about that. Across the street was my favorite place to walk and take guest it's beautiful! I appreciate all the staff who have helped us over the years! I will miss Bridgeport but it's time for a new experience :) read more

To start I was a 4 year resident. I would give them a 1.5 star, but instead of rounding up I decided to round down. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt by avoiding writing a review, because I actually dreaded this place. But since they legit scammed me out of my security deposit and want to charge me an extra $1000 on top of everything.... Here goes my honest review. My lease/payment was the first of every month. I moved out on January 28th and had a walk through of my apartment to make sure everything was in good condition. I kept trying to call and email them regarding my security deposit, they said I would receive it 21 days after move out. I randomly got an email near the end of February saying that my security deposit was going torwards new carpet and cleaning of the apartment. $175 for each, and $250 for a paint job for that small little place. Let me tell you, I lived there for 4 years. I had basic wear and tear but no damages. Also, I didn't even hang anything on the walls so there was no damage to the walls and the carpets, like I said "normal wear and and tear" through the years - but still in good condition; I never wore my shoes in the carpet. Then they tell me that I owe them an extra $1000 dollars, not including the security deposit that they literally stole from me because they charged me an extra weeks worth of rent when I wasn't living there?! Literally, I always paid my rent on the first of each month. Why would they secretly extend my last month of being there an extra week. And I even had email proof saying that I was moving out end of month/lease and on top of that the leasing office said they would get back to me within a week regarding why they were trying to steal my security deposit and charge me an extra $1000 and it's been a week and a half no response - and they kept charging me (late fees) when I'm just waiting for a response from there team. I feel like I'm just being scammed, it's sad how corrupt money has made these people. On top of all this, the first year I moved there. There were cockroaches infested throughout my apartment. It took me 8 months to get them removed, and my bedroom smelled extremely bad for 3-4 months. Also, the walls are very thin. So thin I can hear conversations through them, I can hear people fart, and if someone has anyone over or play music, it will travel through the entire apartment (even if it's on the opposite side). Then you have people smoking weed in there apartment, which also travels through the bathroom vent and makes your apartment reeks and hotbox your apartment. I've had many maintenance problems as well. It got to the point where I would stop calling. I would get something fixed, like a light bulb (which burnt out in less than a week) or get my garbage disposal "fixed" which then proceeded to break the following day. I had constant refrigerator problems, where it would turn off randomly and rot my food. The windows were cheap and the metal bars would come out and break consistently. The maintenance guy told me, after I would call him back for some of the same repeated problems, that the staff was extremely cheap and they buy the cheapest things so they wouldn't have to spend a lot of money; therefore leading things to constantly be breaking in the apartment. Oh, and they would also increase rent $200+ every year for renewal. My rent started at 1,500 and ended at $2,300+ in just a couple years (for a small one bedroom with no patio). They also have gardeners 3 times a week. Behind the community on Mondays and Wednesdays and in the community itself on Fridays. And these guys start gardening sometimes at 6am and I've even had them do it earlier. They also have people constantly moving and leaving this place... So if you plan on sleeping in some days, good luck. I've also had to deal with someone assault me and violently break into my place my second year of living there. And I also had a motorcycle stolen out of my carport. I should have moved out WAY sooner. This place sucks. read more

We have lived at Bridgeport Coast for almost 4 years. The property management staff, Victoria and Maria, are always friendly and helpful. In addition to the basics, package delivery notifications, lease renewals, etc., they arrange on site events and provide small amenities. Recently, they arranged for food trucks to come to the property and on Valentine's Day they left a bag of treats on our door. When Essex acquired the property, they made major upgrades to the common areas, including installing LED motion sensitive lights and remodeling the gym. The maintenance crew is the best. Martín and his staff always respond promptly. They're friendly and they work efficiently. Every maintenance request we've made has been resolved within 24 hours. Found multiple roaches in my apartment (I'm super clean, so it's not because of clutter) and if you happen to lock yourself out of your apartment by accident on Saturdays and Sundays or weekdays after they close, forget about getting back in your apartment! They can't help you (really, I had to go stay at the Hyatt down the street for one night because I got Iocked out). Also, for the amount you pay here I would think they would be careful of the people they pick to rent here. I've been here for a while and the cops have came multiple times (that I've personally witnessed) because residents have gotten into screaming and fighting matches outside the apartments. read more

These Apartments are NOT the place to live! They are way over priced for what you get an old outdated apartment. The grounds always have dog dumps on it, nobody cleans after themselves, the stair ways are full of cobb- webs, bugs running inside your bathroom, and through the corridors. Don't trust the night drop off box, the office will tell you that they never received items in which it is literally impossible not too receive. I have lived at Bridgeport Coast for almost 2 months and my family has really enjoyed our experience thus far. Victoria is very friendly and helpful. My 18 month old son loves having his own bedroom. It's quiet at night. We even have our own washer/dryer which is one of my favorite features. The pool is kept clean and there is even a hot tub. The landscaping is attractive. It is also nearby many shops, restaurants and walking/biking trails. read more

Bridgeport Coast is a fantastic location in Valencia. That was the main reason we picked this place three years ago. IF you're looking for a place with plenty of closet spaces, then this is it! The master bedroom has a gigantic closet, same for the second bedroom. Do I need to mention about the bathroom closets? Loved it very much! There is a pool and fitness room to get you going. :) They have excellent people at the front office and equally efficient maintenance crews. Barbara (Barbie) is fantastic! Everytime we had issues, she prompty took care of it. We are going to miss this place very much. :( I am strongly recommending this place. read more
