The office staff is friendly and welcoming, and they do their best to work with you. They are upfront about pricing and always tell me what my co-pay/total bill will be prior to any services, making every visit a smooth process. Also, it is easy to schedule appointments. I typically do so over the phone, but this last visit, I scheduled the appointment using the online form and was quickly contacted regarding availability. I also appreciate how they run on-time. I always arrive around 10 minutes before my appointment, and I have always been taken back at the exact time of my appointment. Cleanings take roughly 40 min, then Dr. Jaros comes in the check everything out, and I'm typically back in my car and driving home within 45 min of my appointment starting. BONUS: they offer free teeth whitening for patients with every cleaning! This is the main reason why I started coming to ADW in the first place.

We got billed huge amounts for simple dental cleaning. After trying to talk to them they offered some discounts, but they still want $186 + $10 late fees. I was fed up and called to pay the $186 but this extremely rude person said she could not accept anything less then $196 and she wouldn't accept the $186 payment I authorized, threatened to send me to collections and hung up on me. Both DrButcher and Murphy are great and I'm happy with all the hygienists, but I'm never going there again.

This previous dentist *cough* Swish *cough* up charged every single thing for the cleaning, told me I needed to replace every single filling in my mouth, and quoted double the price for a night guard than what I eventually got from Enamel. I worked with hygienists for the last few years who took their time, used the numbing gel for my problem areas, and are easygoing. The hygienists are for the most part awesome. I have teeth sensitivity and eventually found the traditional cleanings with metal instruments too uncomfortable even with gel. In my recent visit, the hygienist did not use enough gel, did not ask how I was during the cleaning, and did not take breaks, despite my documented sensitivity. Her bedside manner was frankly terrible as she also chastised me for my high blood pressure. My pressure is only high at the dentist; this hygienist was too condescending for me to bother explaining. The dentist was also not in the office to review my x rays which just added to the poor experience, which I do want to stress is an outlier for the care here. I have decided to switch to a new office with more modern cleaning methods and hopefully more understanding regarding whitecoat anxiety. My suggestion to new patients is once you have a hygienist you like, stick with them. Caitlin is a new hygienist, and she is very caring and takes her time with the cleaning. The front office staff are also lovely and made the transition to my new dentist a breeze. Bottom line is I never received the 'estimate' of costs involved. Yes, I have dental insurance but I was really let down that I never received it via email nor had a solid idea of the costs involved. I had requested it sent to my email - and they had my email and received mail from them. No estimated was ever received and it has been months ago. I needed that estimated and what procedures were to be performed; that seemed straight forward - to me. Again, I never received that estimate and was highly disappointed in them. They do not like new patients nor do they like to get into somewhat extensive work. I was in that office at least 3 times and never saw anyone in the lobby waiting. That made me wonder and alarms went off. I have since sought out another dentist in NW Austin with a much more up-front documentation on what needed to be done - it wasn't that difficult. It was beyond Karma and bad vibes especially when I did not get a financial estimate as I requested and was told they would email it to me.... He's very much on top of his game in terms of knowledge and the latest treatments, etc, and is very(Very) kind and gentle. My experience with his office staff has always been very satisfactory. They are all super nice and quick to explain procedures and insurance with no confusion. He's a solo practitioner, and occasionally, it's taken a bit longer to get in to see him for routine non urgent visits, but in a genuine emergency, they will get you in. I seem to remember hearing about him meeting a "dental emergency" patient at his office after hours on one occasion. Bottom line, Dr Jason Black is EXCELLENT, he cares about patients, and I have no hesitation in recommending him and his staff.

My issues with Strait Smile is how much they charge per visit and their confusing insurance policies. My insurance covered was in network and was supposed to cover 100% for dentist work, but every time we left owing another $100-$200. This place charges not only insurance at 100% but the patient a large cost too. I called around to three other dentist providers to ensure I wouldn't be in the same situation again and no one else charges the cost Strait Smile does. Received so many emails saying they don't take insurance but do take insurance but don't take it but will file on your behalf. I've already been to another dentist twice and haven't had to pay a single dollar out of pocket, for a dentist in network just like Strait smile. Understand how much you're going to be charged per visit as between my wife and I we paid over $1500 for routine visits even though we were 100% covered in network.

Well since I have been coming to Mrs. Etheridge and her staff now for about 4 years my teeth have never felt and looked better. The staff is all Women ( I say this as I have never seen a guy). Which to me is a huge plus. The natural nurturing these women give is so welcomed. Normally for my self I find most men in dentistry very cold and almost robotic. When speaking with anyone on staff they are always so helpful and willing to find solutions to any concern. Any issue I have had has been explained in a way that I completely understood rather then just being told I need to do x or y. I find that fantastic as I would love to know why something is happening versus just fixing issues. Ya know preventative care is best care to me. Now this next thing 1000 percent is just cosmetic. I had always wanted to get my teeth Whiteened as i drink a lot of coffee. So I called they had space and In I went. I show up and I believe it was CJ that was In charge of my oral care that day. She asked me some questions about if I had ever done whitening before and such. I told her no and then she broke everything down perfectly for me. She went over after care / future care/ etc (Not gonna lie I was a bit nervous) Anyway, jump to the process It happened in 15 min segments I did 3 full top and bottom segments Then a 4 th 10 min just top segment. Trina, my hygienist, seemed genuinely interested in hearing if I had any concerns with my teeth and gave great recommendations and referenced things I had said earlier in conversation which shows me she actually listened. Dr. Etheredge listened to my concerns as well and gave me suggestions. From check-in to leaving, the experience was enjoyable! My dad is a doctor in town with a small private practice who strives to provide his patients with personalized care and I'm always looking for the same out of my providers and I feel like I've definitely found with Dr. Etheredge and her team!
