All the bad reviews are true. Please do not place your loved ones here, my grandpa was placed here for a short term he was hospice so we knew we wouldn't be here long and gave the place a chance despite the bad reviews, because of the location. Rounds were barely ever done, hours went by and nobody would come in to reposition or check his pain. We would constantly have to go out and ask, sometimes they couldn't find or see the orders for the medications that we knew were already acknowledged and approved by the hospice team. They weren't proactive about his constant fevers unless brought up by us. My grandfather was very fortune to have family by his side around the clock to advocate for him.But it's terrifying for any patient that can't communicate or advocate for themselves. We had about 3 good nurses, one aide in particular always had an attitude when being asked for help. read more

We had to place my dad in this facility for memory care/skilled nursing because it was one of the only options that accepted Medicaid spend-down at the time. Unfortunately, our experience there was very difficult. The memory care unit is rundown and always had an unpleasant smell. My dad frequently expressed that he did not feel well cared for, and during visits, he often looked unwell and not like himself. The overall impression we had was that care was inconsistent. Food quality was also a concern. Meals often appeared the same day to day and were not very appealing. We also had concerns about his medications and felt there may have been periods where he was overly sedated, although we cannot confirm that. Communication was another major challenge. It was often difficult to reach staff by phone, and responses were inconsistent. When we began searching for a different facility, we did not receive any assistance, even after multiple requests for help finding Medicaid-accepting options, and ultimately had to do all of the research ourselves. That said, we understand how demanding caregiving work is and that staff are likely overworked. However, we feel strongly that elderly residents deserve consistent, compassionate, and attentive care. Once we were able to move my dad to another facility, we saw a significant and immediate improvement in his condition and overall well-being. read more

A Place for No one! I don't know who they pay to get their reviews from but the place that I went to visit my friend at wasn't a place I'd put anyone on their worst day! Nor is it in any of the pictures on the website, the front desk is, but the other photos are of their 303 building. Their 111 building (Memory Care) is falling apart and smells like urine. I walked in and no one told me to sign in, I could've walked right past. No one knew who I was asking for because they're saying his last name wrong, so personalized care went right out the window there! I had to ask for help at every single turn. You'd think a strange person on a floor with residents, staff would immediately ask you who you were there to see. Once in the Memory Care unit, which is luckily behind a locked door, but you have you hunt someone down to open it for you. Don't worry, they don't verify you're there to see someone, they'll let anyone back there. I stood at the "nurses station" for 5 minutes before someone, that wasn't a resident, noticed me. They weren't even shocked I was back there. While my friend was sleeping, I'll be back to decorate his room. He looked like he was sleeping in a jail cell. Oh, and I'd take their recommendation on wearing a mask, the entire memory unit smells like urine and that was through my mask! The staff definitely are kind and probably do their best but management has to step it up for these elderly fragile residents. Maybe pay your nurses more. Idk though, Just a guess! read more

BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! My mother left the facility in early April 2024, and we still have not received the $3500 security deposit. They have given us no reason for keeping the deposit - a letter was not sent in a timely fashion. Their only reason seems to be greed. We will be taking the owners to small-claims court. And we will be suing for double the deposit because they never sent the letter. read more

This place has yet to send the security deposit refund almost a year after my mother passed away. We vacated the unit within a week, passed the inspection, and after numerous calls, emails, and visits to the office, they still have not refunded the $1500. This is a violation of the contract and is fraudulent business practice. Stay away. read more

My mother almost died here in the memory unit. They ignored her severe UTI and never contacted us when she was refusing food and drink. We found her on a Sunday morning after waiting 15 minutes to finally be let in to the unit. She was in a gown that was half off her body, with no blanket, lying on the bed with an old yellowed pillow. She was so dehydrated that her vitals were unstable. Her d**per was full of old dried bl**d and she had been lying there for who knows how long... an ambulance was called and the hospital was not surprised that she came from this facility, they found a way to keep her longer until we found a better place as they didn't want her going back there either..... On top of it all her wedding rings were stolen. Filed with the State. RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN!! Wish I could leave ZERO stars. read more

If negative stars were an option - I would mark them to the 10th power. This place is HORRIBLE and it should be closed down. I was fooled in the beginning. However, after I finally had the opportunity to observe the conditions residents are subjected to - We made arrangements to get my mother out of there. This pass Saturday - two days before we planned to move our mother out - we almost lost her. We were going to visit on Mother's Day - but decided to go a day earlier. THANK GOD WE DID!!!!! When we arrived - they had us waiting for almost 25 minutes before they brought her to the visiting area. Upon seeing my mother - We immediately lost it!!! They rolled her out in a wheel chair and she was slumped over in her chair, drooling and barely breathing. (How could this even be acceptable in a facility created to care for the elderly? Why wasn't she checked out before they rolled her out front?) We immediately called 911 - the supervising nurse came over and was calling for a blood pressure cuff. All the while we are saying ....she doesn't need a blood pressure cuff - she needs help!! There is so much more I could say about Bridgeway Senior Living - that day and that facility. But, I'm just thankful that we got her out of there when we did. DO NOT....I REPEAT....DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS FACILITY!!!!!!! I will NEVER recommend this facility to ANYONE needing short- or long-term care or rehab. My mother spent most of the summer of 2011 in the rehab section. While quite a few of the PTs and OTs (sorry, I can't remember names anymore) were quite good when I went to visit her and she felt she was getting her strength back, the overall experience was almost on a negative scale. Employees woke her up at all times of the night, just to take blood pressure; completely unnecessary. Because she's in a wheelchair, she needed help to use the bathroom; more than 5 times she had to wait over an hour for someone to respond to a call. She had her own respiratory machine that she used for sleeping; when I took it to be calibrated, the amount of filth and spider webs I picked off the electric cord made it quite obvious they don't clean the rooms properly. A neighbor just across the hall would scream for hours without anyone coming to her aid, or actually, to the aid of the rest of the residents that had to listen to that, day after day after day. My mom retains water; she blew up to the point that I thought the skin was going to break on both feet; they never contacted her doctor to increase her diuretics. She developed MRSA, which - unfortunately, is quite common in a care facility, but they didn't follow up on her care after she was back from the hospital. During a two day period that ended up being one of the hottest that summer, her air conditioner broke. They took over 7 hours to fix the machine; I was afraid for my mom's life. She couldn't move for fear of raising her body temperature too much. They weren't concerned. We spoke many times to Robin and Joy about these issues; they gave good a^^-kissing over the phone, but never followed up on our concerns. As soon as my mom was released, they stopped taking our phone calls on follow up issues. Here's the final and ultimate slap to the face: my mom went over her Medicare allotment and was making good faith payments on her remaining portion of the bill. They sued her within 6 months because her payments weren't high enough, or fast enough. She had to borrow money from a lot of people to get her legal issues taken care of. A default judgement was entered because there was no way for her to get to the courts in Wheaton, and Bridgeway's lawyer refused to work with her. AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES A CHRISTIAN-BASED CARE FACILITY!! read more

After reviewing the options for nursing homes in our area, we decided to visit Bridgeway Christian Village and decided that it was a comfortable, yet affordable, option for my grandma. However, that was about as good as it got. The staff at this nursing home is either severely understaffed or lazy. When we first arrived at the facility, it took the staff two full hours before they acknowledged her arrival. We then requested a Hoyer lift for her to be transported to bed. It took them over 45 minutes to locate the only functioning lift in the entire facility, a machine that should be readily available in a nursing home. The only time you'll see a nurse is if medication is needed (most are LPN). The PCA has to cover the entire floor, so my grandma needed to sit in her urine or feces for at least an hour because no one answered the call light. She developed bed sores because only family or our caregiver would help her roll over in bed. Soon after she arrived at the facility, the head physical therapist wanted to see if she could walk. We repeatedly told him that she couldn't walk, but he claimed that he was a "doctor" and knew what he was doing. Without even testing her muscle strength, three physical therapists tried standing her up. In trying to move her to the commode by standing, they gave her several bruises and a cut on her leg. We have photo and video evidence of this abuse. My grandma was in this home for a few months, and it was the worst decision we've ever made. She died of septic shock, most likely due to the bed sore. If family wasn't there on a daily basis, she wouldn't have even lived that long. read more

We were forced to bring my brother in law here because of public aid...They treat you worse than garbage..cold food(dinner a cold cheese sandwich with cold vegtables) dont answer the light when you need a nurse..Cant get your medicine when you need it as again they dont answer your light..If you need them for the bathroom good luck...Left numerous messages for the Director of Nursing he never calls back..The service here is terrible..Do not send any one here if you can avoid it at all cost..Dont forget you get to look at 4 very small walls no Tv if you are stuck here for any length of time so be prepared... read more

This facility provides both nursing home care and rehab, as well as independent living, hospice and other services. I have experience only with the rehab. The care here was much better than experienced at two other nearby facilities. No place is perfect, but the imperfections here were minor, in contrast to the two other, both of which caused medical problems. The staff here is cheerful, you can tell that they like working here. Not something you see at other places. The rehab treatment is supervised by Marianjoy, and that is about as good as you can get in this area. Meals were very good, with nice touches, like a cloth napkin on your tray. I would not hesitate to place someone else here, or to even go here myself, if I had a need. read more
