The hotel itself is run down - in a great location with friendly staff. Nothing about this place has "wowed" me and the restaurant is no exception. Most of the front desk staff is just hanging out. My group sat at the bar and we asked quite a few questions about the menu - we do this everywhere... curious foodies! Waiter was not sure about menu items so the Rabbi came out and offered vague descriptions. I wanted a martini and the waiter was not a bartender so I had to WALK myself to the bar across the lobby to order my own drink and bring it back to the restaurant. What? The Mediterranean trio appetizer had good filling. Over fried and greasy. The Rabbi offered me a napkin to dab off the excess oil. What? Walking across the lobby to order my 2nd martini and carry back to the restaurant... Greek salad salad was well prepared with fresh vegetables and herbs. Lamb chops? Off the chain delicious!!! Lamb kebab presented on the skewer was fair and salty. There was only one other table in the restaurant - the service was slow and inattentive. Having to ask for things multiple times. There is potential here - it is unrealized.

I decided to order the spicy roll and the Steve roll while on a break. I noticed their sushi earlier and it looked amazing. The 2 rolls I had were just loaded with tuna and were huge. There were 8 pieces per roll and when I finished, I was stuffed. The rolls were so plump and full of flavor, just amazing. Along with the 2 rolls, there was a nice serving of a salad that was made of seaweed and grab in a sesame oil, so delicious. Unlike most places during LIRW, this restaurant serves full size menu options and not the watered down, miniature versions that most other places do. She chose the Mac & Cheese as her app, I chose the Crab Cakes. I've never been a big fan of Mac & Cheese at restaurants because they just can't compare to my mama's, but I was impressed. This 7-cheese Mac and Cheese was so rich and delicious. You can taste the different cheese throughout and there was more than enough for us to share. The Crab Cakes were delicious! Although, I can't say I was able to pull chunks of crab like I had hoped, they were still delicious accompanied by the caper sauce drizzled on top. We shared our apps because they were so plentiful, and we almost forgot we had entrees and desserts left! As an entree she chose the Shrimp Scampi, which came with rice, veggies and more shrimp than I've seen on a plate - skewered and sauced to PERFECTION. I chose the Short Rib pasta - which was a plate full of rigatoni in a savory brown sauce with grape tomatoes, shaved parmesan and enough short rib to eat in every bite. Needless to say, we had to take our desserts to go. Hers was a chocolate cake and mine a Creme Brûlée. I was pleased when the server (who took over for David) let me know because it was being taken to go, the Creme Brûlée wouldn't hold up well, but they had a good alternative. The hall space is located on the 2nd floor and does not have an elevator but the steps are short. There is a fully equipped bar, ice machine kitchen and ample space with 2 super clean bathrooms. There were really three parts to the experience and all three were perfect. First there is the period of selecting and working with the team: they couldn't have been more cooperative and helpful and responsive and flexible. Second is the event itself: ran absolutely smoothly and everything they said they would handle, they handled with great care. Third after the event; we left some items behind and they were in touch with us the very next morning. The Ocean Club works with one caterer and man what a skilled and delightful group of professionals who not only prepared delicious food but we're so invested in the success of our event that their presence enhanced the evening for all. The space was very nice. We got chair covers and sashes which really added to the room. Jeff had everything set up very very nice. We had the downstairs room with the bar, which is a great space for people to hang out. We had about 65 guests, plus DJ and assistant and the room holds up to 100. Tons of room for dancing, kids were running around like crazy with games and DJ, nice and tired after - LOL. Dinner was buffet style and the food was very good! They have a second room upstairs that I believe holds up to 150, but definitely more than the downstairs room. Highly recommend calling Jeff if you're looking to host a party in the area.
