My review is a google. I was not able to reply back. Someone answered saying that a second exam was needed for myopia and that is a complete LIE. My son had a regular eye exam and was given the diagnosis of myopia that day and was prescribed certain contacts to wear that day to slow down the myopia. All of this was done in the same day. Doctor is extremely impatient with my two year old daughter. Office policies are going against the eye safety of my child. By not providing the PD# she is unable to get glasses that fit her face. Their solution to avoid providing the number was to refit her glasses. Refitting her glasses has failed twice and they still refused to provide the necessary information. My 6 year old also found him to be rude. He also rushes and does not answer questions as I do not wear glasses! In order for one to understand how grateful I am to have found the solution to my son's problem, I have to tell the entire story. My son had been having serious issues with skipping words when writing and spelling. The teachers at his school stated that he may have dysgraphia. They weren't particularly concerned in correcting it at that moment, since he was in 3rd grade, and writing was not going to be significant on the 3rd grade STAAR test. With a lot of advocating, the school brought someone in to help him write when the class had writing exercises. Unfortunately, he didn't qualify for a 504/IEP. I was afraid that the "helper" who was working with him was doing most of the work for him, because he was unable reproduce the work that he was doing at school with the helper at home. I took my son to a writing tutor, two OT's, and had a consultation with a psychiatric neurologist (charging $3000 for a diagnosis only, no therapy only a referral to a therapist and then more money). The writing tutor and the OT just flat out could not help him. In fact, one OT just gave up. At our last visit, she gave me some exercises to do with him and we were left alone to figure out the problem. For the beginning of 4th grade, I decided to put him in a private school with smaller classroom sizes (15 students). The teacher worked closely with me regarding my son's writing issues. One day she called me and said that she thought something was wrong with his vision, because whenever he read he tilted his head a little bit too much. I expressed this to the second OT and she said that she witnessed the same thing. She advised me to take him to vision therapy. I researched and found Dr. Fong in Sugar Land. His staff was amazing and gave me a briefing of what to expect. Dr. Fong took him as a patient and did testing. He found that my son had deficiencies in his spatial ability. He also discussed with me that when my child was reading, the words appeared as if they are jumping around the page. There were a few other deficiencies as well. I decided to go with Dr. Fong after looking into and trying many avenues. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This was a process and in the beginning and even toward the middle I was wondering if this was going to work. I trusted the process and we kept pushing. Eventually, I saw his spelling improve. Approximately 3-4 months into treatment, his teacher called me and said that he was writing fluently with no hesitation. Here are a couple of things to note....my son, although he can write manually, he does better with the keyboard. The teacher allows him to bring his keyboard to class. As far as focus, the school has allowed him to wear headphones with music to block out distractions when he has to do assignments in class. He's always been bright and had good grades. Now, I can see him becoming more independent since vision therapy with Dr. Fong. I am forever grateful to Dr. Fong and his amazing staff!!! read more

I went to Dr. Fong after feeling tired and getting a headache every time I study. Sitting behind a screen and reading for hours was really taking a toll on me. So I went to Dr. Fong, and this was my first visit to an Optometrist in such a long time. After figuring out my vision problem, he also suggested that I get a special kind of glasses that would block the blue lights from screens. To summarize, Dr. Fong was really thorough in his test, was very nice and professional. The other staff members were also so friendly and they patiently kept helping me while I was going through the many frames because this was the first pair of glasses that I've ever gotten. We thought our 12 year old son had ADHD but were hesitant to take him to see a doctor about it since we did not want him on prescription drugs at such a young age. He struggles in school a lot for reading and writing. In the past we have hired a tutor but it's very costly and not a permanent solution. Dr Fong recognized his symptoms and found he actually had a form of dyslexia. With the help of Dr Fong's weekly therapy my son now has tools to help him read and write better in school. His grades have improved and he now rarely needs help on homework. Dr. Fong really fixed me up! I am in my second year in medical school, and I was having major fatigue looking at books and at computer screens for 10-12 hours at a time. I thought that my vision was getting worse so I went to Grace and Ed over a break to get my eyes checked. I told Ed how I had a hard time concentrating in class, how I would be exhausted after a study session, and how I was having a hard time sleeping at the end of the day. He does a thorough exam and finds that my vision hasn't changed all that much. He goes on to tell me that he suspects that my eyes are just fatigued from too much screen time and that he suggested that I get a new type of lens that may help with my studying. Not only that, he gave suggestions on behavioral changes that I could do that would allow me to still study efficiently while not fatiguing my eyes. I got the glasses in the mail and gave it a try. WOW!!! The difference is night and day. After an 8 hour study session, I realized that I didn't seem as tired physically. Not only had my stamina gone up, but I found that my concentration on the material was better, too. I expect that my grades will be improving due to this one fix, and even if not, my overall health is improved because of it. My daughter is in third grade. She has always been a good reader but would always refuse to read. We could not keep up on her reading assignments at school. I read some symptoms of vision problems in children and asked my daughter if she had any of them. She said yes, especially headaches. I also noticed that she would turn her head sideways to look at things like the t.v. We went to Dr. Fong and got her special glasses with a prism while she was doing vision therapy. Her headaches have stopped and she now reads willingly. She also can now read without the glasses. Don't hesitate to get your child tested and to ask them questions if they refuse to read, even though they can. My daughter enjoyed seeing Dr. Fong for her vision therapy appointments. I am so happy that she had vision therapy with Dr. Fong! It has made a huge difference. read more

Dr. Edward Fong is the most unethical and money-grubbing doctor I have ever had the misfortune of working with. WARNING: *NEVER* trust his services. If he seems agreeable to you, you'd be shocked at how quickly that slick facade dissipates once he realizes he's not able to squeeze as much money out of you as he originally thought. A while back, I visited Dr. Fong's office for an eye examination and to purchase a pair of new eyeglasses. When I picked up the eyeglasses the following week, I immediately noticed that something was off about the lenses once I tried them on. I could not see properly; I felt slightly dizzy; my vision became even more distorted if I looked the slightest bit downward or to the side; stationary objects seemed to move when I looked at them. This has never happened with any other eyeglasses I purchased with other optometrists over the years. I did recognize that my prescription had changed since the last time I purchased eyeglasses and that there might be an adjustment period. However, I began to worry because not once did Dr. Edward Fong or his wife check to see how the glasses fit on my face or what adjustments needed to be made the minute after I had completed the eye exam. I wore my new eyeglasses continuously for the next few days, but my vision still did not improve and I continued to feel dizzy while wearing them. I went back to Dr. Fong's office in order to have my eyes re-examined and the lenses re-checked. To my disbelief, Dr. Fong refused to see me unless I agreed to pay for another "office visit," which he told his assistants to charge through my health insurance, my yearly eye care benefits having already been exhausted. While I was explaining my problem to Dr. Fong's two front desk assistants, Dr. Fong did not once come out from his office to see what was wrong. Instead, he simply messaged his assistants through the computer and said that my eyes were still adjusting to the new prescription. He was not examining any other patients at this time. I tried to explain to his assistants that my vision while wearing the eyeglasses had not improved in the slightest since I received them several days ago, but again, Dr. Fong refused to see me unless I first paid for his time. Unbelievably unreasonable? Yep, call me naive, but I was shocked that a doctor would stoop to that level. Because I believed there was a strong chance the mistake made was on his office's part, I thought it was unreasonable that he demand I first pay for any additional assistance--especially because he did not take any steps to figure out if there actually was a problem with the eyeglasses. Without even attempting to see me or to run a quick check-up of my eyeglasses, the final explanation he offered was that I still needed time to adjust. His "explanation" turned out to be 100% false. I sought a second optometrist's opinion, and indeed, the focal point on the lenses was much too low. It would have been an easy fix if Dr. Fong had actually taken a minute to bother to check. Instead, I was subjected to his unprofessional conduct, persistent disavowal of any mistake on his end, and complete lack of moral integrity and concern for his patients. I was stuck with used-up benefits and useless eyeglasses. So, Bright Eye Care's office policy stands: Absolutely zero refunds for eyeglasses once you've purchased them (which I was *kindly* reminded upon my return). If by chance we make them incorrectly, TOO BAD, YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK, GIVE US MORE MONEY. Please, everybody, spare yourselves the headache. I have posted this same review on other websites under aliases to protect my privacy online. However, Dr. Fong continues to refuse to take responsibility for his actions, even pretending like he does not know who I am. True, I am not using my legal name. However, with the level of detail that I have used to describe my experience, there is absolutely no way that he does not know my true identity. His defensive attitude is exactly what I had to deal with in person when I returned to his office after receiving his incorrectly made lenses. Avoid at ALL costs. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Dr. Fong's for more than 8 years. He was recommended by a friend after my son was diagnosed with autism. He provided vision therapy services for him at that time and optometry services for most of my family. We even continued using him for optometry services when we moved out of town for 2 years. After moving back to the Houston area, we decided to have our son evaluated for vision therapy again since it had been several years since he last received those services from Dr. Fong. I paid my $100 deposit when I scheduled the evaluation and upon arriving was told the insurance covered the remaining costs of the evaluation. When I returned to review the results, I was told there would be a $70 consultation fee. I had not been told I would need to pay an additional fee to go over the results and expressed that this was not the norm and should be covered as part of the evaluation. I asked to speak with Dr. Fong. The office worker spoke with him and came back and said I was I paying for the doctor's time. And he was with a patient. I questioned how he could be with a patient when I was scheduled to review the results at the current time. No response...just a blank stare. So I requested that they simply provide me with a copy of the report...no consultation needed. I was then told it would cost $50 if I wanted a copy of the report. I was shocked that they would require me to pay for an evaluation and then require me to pay additional fees to get the results. These are medical records that I paid for and have a right to receive. It is like paying for an eye exam and then being asked to pay an additional fee for a copy of the prescription. And I was hugely disappointed that after 8+ years, Dr. Fong wouldn't even discuss this with me. I left vowing never to return but I will continue to seek another course of action to obtain the results that I already paid for. read more

Dr. Fong is probably the best doctor that I have ever been too for the last 30 years. I have had several doctors due to living in other places. He has been the most knowledgeable, and caring doctor that I have visited. I probably will stick with him for a long while. It is hard to find good doctors these days. read more
