Eyeglasses single vision lens change was NOT 2 weeks, NOT 3 days, NOT 24 hours but... 30 minutes!!! We were out of there in 45 minutes with way less cheaper out of pocket charge of $95 ( polycarbonate, non- scratch) to which Pearle vision quoted $300. Very personable people!! They unfortunately stopped providing contact lens but it still does not stop us from making them our primarily eyeglasses to go to. Simply Awesome!!! read more

Fast great service. Ordered my contacts and they called me when they arrived. If you scan and email them, go ahead and give them a call to confirm your purchase. They also have other brand contacts that are not listed online. I stopped in today and it only took 5 minutes to pay for my contacts. I have also ordered glasses from them. I had been looking for a same service glasses location since Lenscrafters closed all of their in-store labs. It wa literally by chance that I was near another eye glasses place and caught an employee as she was locking up. She told me that they didn't do same day but Modern Optical on Murphy Road did. When I finally had time and funds, I called to make sure that they did same day service. The gentleman that answered confirmed that they did, as long as I got there by 5:30. I made it in time, and he recognized my voice. Y'all I walked in, chose frames, got the glasses, tried them on and left in less than an hour!!!!! Everything was great. I was referred to this optical place to fix my sun glasses frame with the understanding that they had the lab with right equipment to handle my issue. I was greeted with a courteous gentleman, who understood what the issue was, & told me what he could do to resolve my issue. Within a few minutes he returned with my sunglasses all fixed nicely. I asked how much I owed him, & was told nothing, no charge! I was pleasantly surprised that he was able to fix my frame without any charge so quickly. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly at the door, given an excellent price quote, and generally made to feel as if I was a valued customer, even though I had never been there before. The quote for lenses for my rimless frames WITH anti-reflective coating was SIGNIFICANTLY less than what I had paid in the past at Lenscrafters for the same lenses WITHOUT the AR coating. I found this place by accident but thank god I found it! I was on my way to work when my glasses broke. I saw Modern Optical on the way and decided to stop there ask about their one hour service. The sales person who turned out to be the owner, was really nice. He promised me my glasses would be ready in an hour. As I was waiting, he informed me that his business is family owned and his dad and brother work there too. It definitely had family friendly feel to it. After waiting 45 minutes, my glasses were ready and he gave me a very good deal! After I got home, I checked the price of the frames online and I was charged $50 cheaper at Modern Optical. I have a pretty high prescription and need bifocals. for vanity's sake I get progressive, no line, lenses in the thinnest material possible. not only does Mr Chacko know what he is doing, but also offers the best price I can find, on the internet or in a store, by far !! very happy! read more

I've been buying my glasses from Modern Optical for over 10 years and they always have provided good service and reasonable prices. I got in a bike wreck and smashed my frames but the lenses were OK. Manager was really nice and helpful. I came in wanting to get my lenses for my old glasses replaced since they were scratched and the coating was peeling. Instead I ended up getting a new frame with high-index lenses as part of a package deal. The lenses were extremely thin too since my prescription was very high. It took only an hour for the lenses to be made and placed into the frame. I'll probably be back to get another pair in a couple of months as back up. Amazing and very affordable!!! I had not replaced the lenses in my frames for years. Unfortunately, one of the lenses cracked and I really needed a new pair of lenses. I walked into Modern Optical and was greeted and helped immediately. The consult with the owner only took 10 minutes. The replacement took a few days but was only $95. This included scratch, shatter, and glare resistant lenses. would easily have been much more expensive (3x more) at a national chain. My teenage daughter broke the frames of her glasses and needed to replace them ASAP. I tasked her with finding a place that was open on a Saturday afternoon. She called Modern Optical, spoke with Chacko, and made an appointment for 4:30 the same day. We immediately drove from Spring Branch to Stafford in order to make the appointment. To my surprise, the Saturday operating hours listed on the door were from 10:00-2:00. Chacko returned to the store solely for my daughter's appointment! The store phone must roll to his cell phone after closing hours. The store has a good selection of very well-priced name brand frames. Chacko was able to cut the lenses and fit the frames within 15 minutes, less time than it took my daughter to pick out the frames! I was very pleased with the price: $175 for frames, lenses, anti-glare and scratch resistant coating. Chacko explained that the majority of their business is wholesale, so they keep a large stock of lenses and have much lower prices than the competition. My daughter stumbled upon Modern Optical through a Google search, but they will certainly get all our future business. Well worth the drive! read more

Where has this place been all my life?! Modern Optical is a wholesaler, meaning they have lenses in stock, and cut them them in house to fit in frames. For people like me, who need a 12+ high index lens and want it very thin at 1.74 (which is not found at most retailers), it merely takes a day to get the lens and have it put in the frame! For most lenses, like my daughter's poly-carbonate lenses, it takes merely an hour. Oh, and they are a fraction of the price. My high index lenses and frames usually cost nearly $400. I got a pair for $195 (frames and 1.74 high index lenses)! My daughter's lenses were $95 and at every other place I called they were at least $160! So far I have been very pleased with the quality. I will update this post if I find anything to the contrary in the future, but both my daughter and I have been pleased thus far. This is a father-son business. The father is a certified optician (not sure about the son). He is VERY good at both helping you select frames that will be best for your prescription and your face, and he is excellent at adjusting them. I am VERY picky and I am happy. They have a nice stock of frames, excellent prices, and expert adjusting. Give them a try. I will be going back for sure as currently my daughter's prescription changes every 6 months. Called and received a price quote on the phone a couple of days ago. Drove the 40 miles or so from League City to Stafford. Well worth the trip for my prescription sunglass lenses. A fraction of the price the other eyeglass places were charging, very professional and courteous, and it only took 30 minutes to have my new prescription lenses tinted and put in my frames.
