What a day, spent most of the day with Brighthouse Cable trying to work out a connection problem, they would get it fixed leave and within minutes we couldn't connect to the internet or wifi again, it was making us nuts and making them nuts. The last guy to come out was here about 2 hours, he had everything working just right and promised to call 1/2 hour after he left. Everything continued to work for about 10 minutes after he left then it all stopped. The guy called and he came back to the house immediately, stayed for another hour still couldn't figure out what was going on, he decided to put a "tracker" on our box overnight to see when the box kicks off what was happening, he also decided to check with big shots at Brighthouse to recheck the connection numbers that had already been checked by the peons at the company, immediately the head honcho said "the wifi keeps kicking out doesn't it" our cable guy said "yes" and the head honcho guy fixed the numbers and in so doing fixed the internet/wifi. Joe and I are so impressed by all the staff at Brighthouse, they took our calls immediately, showed real empathy and assured rapid responses to our problems then gave follow up calls to see how things were going. It is what it is. Need to pay a bill? Stop in. Need to switch out equipment? Stop in. No frills, no standout customer service, but for me it gets the job done. I've been here a couple times to switch out equipment. For me, its easier than waiting around for a tech to come out. Typically they are well staffed and you are able to get in and out fairly quickly. A little bit of kindness tends to go a long way when dealing with the staff. As a company and a service, I'm not a huge fan of Brighthouse and would probably pursue another provider but there are not many options in my area. It's kind difficult to assess organizations that have multiple divisions. Unlike a restaurant, where food and service encompass the majority of the judgment - Bright House has like two distinctly different facets to critique. This location has always had friendly and accommodating customer service window help. Last weekend was no exception. Long line but always calm and patient - even with the stupid- jerks and their petty complaints. So we are upgrading our connection speed and tossing the phone line. Great- now we'll save $2. They earned the two stars mainly because this time - customer service failed to mention she had arranged an appointment to change out our modem without involving us!!?? WTF? Not sure how that could ever happen, but the next day we have a message stating the appointment time - WE NEVER AUTHORIZED. What fun near-monopolies can be! We were never advised of the need for the hardware exchange ! Yes, I say "we" because I have a witness to the FAIL. Duh, I'd remember if I needed to let my work know I'm gunna be a little late cause.... Will update when the service guy makes earns his rating. Hey, I'm optimistic. Wouldn't you be? So - here is an update (copy of the e mail) of the "service division" drop in non-appointed experience and their exsplay nation: "I called brighthouse this morning and apparently no one has to be home. What a mess. At first the recording said we had a service scheduled for today from 8 to 10. When I talked to a real person she said that was just to undo our phone and no one had to be there. The 5 to 7 appt for today is to drop our cable down to basic 18 channels. We will be paying $23/mo for 18 channels??!! As far as the turbo speed, we'll need to call the tech side of brighthouse and they will ping our network to check it out. Oy vey..." So the short of it is we now have no phone service (as planned) and slow internet connection at + - 5K kbps and should be 20 kbps. Another call to the near-monopoly. This is what I sent to Brighhouse: I sent an e mail yesterday and got no response. Your service tech came today. He was not friendly and obviously didn't want to be working on Easter. I asked if he was putting in a new box and he said he only had refurbished boxes. After he finished, I asked him if the remote was set and he said yes. I asked him if the delay on our other box was normal, he said yes and left. I tried the replacement unit and the remote did not work. Called your company and after they ran thru some tests, determined that the box was not good and I needed a new one. YOUR COMPANY HAS INCOMPETANT PEOPLE!!!! I asked that they send someone out to replace it. Your company said no, they were too busy today. So I guess your Company standard is to get in and out as fast as possible. You have no quality control. The proper response was to get someone here immediately, even if it meant sending a supervisor. Your lack of response to yesterday's e mail and lack of ability to respond immediately shows that I need to look for a new provider. I am simply amazed at how bad Bright House is. The only thing they have going for them is the fact they sealed up the market somehow blocking competitors from coming in. I was told that if Bright House was in an area they are the only ones that you can get service from. This is a travesty to the public. There is no competition on service providers so we are forced to endure the substandard service they provide. It is time that we force them to fix their issues. I have been in Orlando for right at a year. Prior to moving here I lived in Guadalajara Mexico. I was shocked coming here and finding that there was no fiber optic internet in Orlando. Is this town that technologically challenged? I have only had the opportunity to deal with BH for my services. I have always paid for the 45 MB internet after continuously having bandwidth issues I started doing periodic speed checks. The fasted recorded speed over a year was 17.8 MBS. I spoke to BH about this and their reply was you are paying for "UP TO 45." I told the sales rep that in my speed log I have 45 and 50+ but that was when I was with another carrier. Prey tell me why there is not a better service in Orlando. I told the sales person if that is the case and I only get 15 that is what I want to pay for. So he down graded my service. What I expected was to still get the 15 that I have always gotten. Well that is not the case. For some reason I only now get 2-5 MBS. That have oversold the bandwidth in the markets and we are paying for it. To me this is fraud sell one thing and then throttle the bandwidth down so much that you can't get what you pay for. Google fiber or AT&T's ADSL needs to come to orlando and they will put BH out of business. So if you are looking for a place to live in Orlando look for a place that does not have BH for services. read more

Had to go here to drop off equipment for a cancelled account. Customer service was obviously not a priority, as I had to talk with the girl on the counter who was also on the phone. Could never tell if she was talking with me or someone else. Either way, this place is terrible. read more

Cable has always been awful, install didnt come through the day it was scheduled. Credits that were promised were not issued. Every month a new billing issue, need all kinds of codes and account #s to see your bill. This company is a joke, and i hope to escape them forever. read more

Bright house has been a pretty bad experience overall in regards to price and customer service. Not only is internet (only internet) over $115, this was for large dl speeds but when i tried to reduce download speeds to basic 15mbps, it would only save $20 which is outrageous, but they are the only provider I have access to. It's a total monopoly in our area and extremely unfair to clients. I've only ever paid up to $60 dollars a month so I am definitely shocked at their prices. In regards to customer service, we have definitely had some tough goes. When cancelling our service the representative was borderline sarcastic ("Where else are you going to go") with a condescending attitude. Luckily, upon renewing today we spoke with Liz and she was super helpful. She gave us an affordable deal (unlike our experience just before her) and was extremely understanding. I would give them zero stars if possible. My internet service keeps cutting out, repeatedly. I have three teenagers, and their school work is interrupted almost daily. When you call, you wait on hold forever. Then they always say "your modems working fine, we don't see any problem". The worst thing is that we don't have any viable alternative. The only other ISP providers for this area are DSL, I can't live with that. They suck. I have been using their service now for 8 years, I am trapped. I can't say this review is directed specifically at this bright house. I'm not sure which one actually sent a contractor out to set up my cable but I have had very poor service. My slot was 6-8pm set up time... I do indeed understand delays but it has been over 90 minutes. I was just called and told that it would be approximately another 45 minutes. And of course this happens after they apparently "showed" up to set up but never called nor left a voicemail. Very disappointing. I had switched from Bright House to AT&T. Bright House is by far the worst cable provider. I am stuck with them because I cannot get Dish or Direct TV. They over charge you. You have to pay for everything. Even wifi is not free if you get the cheapest package. They should be ashamed of themselves. The minute another cable company is available I am ditching them. I have had 4 conversations all lasting near or more than an hour and with little resolution because everyone has told me something different!!!! I had an install appointment yesterday from 6pm - 8pm. I got off work early so I could be there for the technician when he arrived. At 8pm no technician had shown up so I called Bright House customer service. After nearly 45 minutes of going through the automated messaging and being put on hold I was finally informed that the technician had claimed that I was not at home. Not only was I home but for the majority of the time both of my roommates were as well and the lights were on and music was playing. I never even received a call from the technician. When I said I needed to have a technician out there that night and asked to speak to a supervisor I was transferred and then hung up on. This is awful customer service. I had to spend another hour on the phone on hold to set up a new appointment for the install where I will again have to wait at least two hours for a technician. This is hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will not use Bright House in the future and I will heavily recommend no one else use them either. We have no options in our neighborhood for cable, Brighthouse is it. Every single time we have a service issue, they eventually send a tech out but most times they don't show up and have to reschedule. Once they do show up the work is never complete and we have to call them back. Unreal. Last night my husband made an appointment for tonight between 6 and 8. When I got home I giggled and told him not to count on it - they never show up unless you call a second time. He defended them and low and behold, no show. SHOCK - lol. That's how it always goes. So he called, trying to get thru to someone for probably 20 minutes. Answer was priceless, their automated system called and cancelled. Really? They would have to have the right number right, we bundle (lol) but somehow there was never a call on our voice mail. Hmmmmm. Me thinks someone may have stretched the truth a bit. OK, I think they out and out lied. But we are stuck, they know it and probably in a little room somewhere laugh about consumers who have no choice.
