Unfortunately, the ownership and direction of this place are deeply disappointing, and it's impossible to support leadership that shows such a lack of responsibility and professionalism.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed to say the absolute least with the infant room. The ratio of…read morechild:teacher is 6:2- with another floater- the standard, but you can tell that they are overwhelmed. After picking up my child early, I got to see what goes on in the middle of the day. While I don't think this was out of the norm for infant care, I was surprised at what was happening. My child (of 3 months old) along with another child was lying on the ground in the drop off section where people take off shoes and was attempting to feed himself a bottle, absolutely covered in milk. The teachers were busy warming bottles/ changing diapers/ trying to tend to the 6 screaming children. After picking my child up off the ground and cleaning him up myself, I was given previous bottle- still 3/4 full. While I understand that a baby will not always finish a bottle, I was not okay with the fact that he normally would have had 12 ounces by this point of the day, and he'd only had 6 total. I did not say anything to the teachers, as they really didn't have time to chat (they prefer communication via their app). I sat in the parking lot of the center and finished feeding him. He was starving. I have no idea how much he actually drank since he I witnessed him attempting to feed himself. When we got home, he took another 8 ounces. After talking to other parents- they said that it wasn't totally out of the ordinary and that if they didn't have to do infant care, they wouldn't. When we ultimately decided to pull him out of daycare and picked his stuff up, it smelt of very strong cleaning chemicals. If you have to do infant care, this place checks the box, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I'm not one to post poor reviews, but I wish I would've known what it was all about. So here it is.

In this short period, our 4 year old came home with bruising on his face twice from a teacher's child, a black eye from the same child, and was terrified to go to school because he was screamed at daily by his teachers. We witnessed and reported this abuse to the director and corporate do no avail. The physical altercations between the kids and verbal abuse from teachers is dismissed as normal behavior. There is no structured learning or play throughout the day and this leads to zero control over the classroom and children. Less concerning, but still notable, is the lack of purposeful, thoughtful learning such as artwork, writing prompts, or reading. In 4 months, our 4 year old practiced writing twice at school. The school prints coloring pages and this is the art. We do supplemental writing workbooks, reading exercises, painting, and practice using scissors after school because our child is falling behind academically. This concern was also dismissed stating that, "they will learn all of that in VPK." I will not comment on the VPK program because our kid did not attend it. However, we moved our child to a new daycare before VPK because he was terrified of the VPK teacher's behavior and abusive disciplinary actions. The lack of classroom structure, daily physical altercations between the kids, verbal abuse from teachers, no academic standards, and dismissal of these concerns were astounding. I deeply regret selecting La Petite Academy. Another point of note: They offer discounts to families for 5-star reviews. The only 5-star classroom is the infant classroom where the teachers are tenured and professionally trained to create a loving, nurturing, and calm environment.

However, when I arrived, I was informed that there were no openings--completely contradicting what I was told the day before. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled. There was no apology for the miscommunication or for the time and gas I spent coming out. I was simply told that another family took the spot the day before, and that was it. No effort to still provide the scheduled tour, no alternatives offered--nothing. This lack of professionalism, communication, and basic consideration is concerning. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable trusting this school with my child.

Management helped ease the transition both as a staff member and as a parent. Which I am highly appreciative of because being happy in my work place and knowing that my daughter is safe and happy where she spends her day is extremely important to me. My daughter recently turned 2 and they have been working on potty training with her which helps the transition into potty training at home as well. Her language has also developed quite a bit in the last few months she's coming home singing songs from circle and talking about things she's learned that day (we have been getting a daily sheet showing us what curriculum has been covered each day which her dad and I find helpful with knowing exactly what she is doing each day.) Her dad and I both have the parent app and it's nice to see pictures and updates on her potty training, snack, lunch, and nap so we know how her day is going! My daughter loves all the teachers there! We loved having Ms. Bri when she was in the toddler class room. My daughter loves Ms. Cassondra and Ms. Querri they always make a point to ease her morning transition into school or make her smile! We love our job and our school

Many times when I picked her up her face was dirty since she's had runny nose and no one bothered to clean her up. My child is sick and I told them I need to remove her out of the program they still force me to pay 2 weeks withdraw period and of course my child could not be there for the last whole week due to high fever and coughing so much that she would throw up many times and that last week cost us $500 for nothing. Opps, sorry your child got sick, you still need to pay us no matter what. And the funny thing is they ignored me when I asked for the final number on my last bill, 3 days later, after I sent couple emails and text messages they finally gave me a number and guess what the experience not bad enough so they go ahead and charged me extra $200 on top of what I have to pay on my last bill. The director told me they will return the money they overcharged me back and a week already still see nothing. So of course I have to email back and forth for many times, now they told me it takes up to 6 weeks for it to get the money they overcharge me back. They are very fast to enroll you in to get your money but when there is a problem they will talk around but no action. Plus the whole time she was in the program I received 0 pictures of her and the activities feed update was really bad and delay all the time. Anyway it is really "the learning experience" for my family after all.

That said my wife and I spent a lot of time searching options and found Skycrest to be the perfect fit for us and our kids. I must say that SCS checks many boxes when considering a private school and needs to be on the list for consideration. We have had 3 of our kids attend and can say it was an excellent experience. Were there some bumps along the way? Yes. However, the school's administration is quick to take corrective action and working to improve and correct. That is all we (as parents) can ask for. The teachers we found to be caring and bright. The sports program is the best in the Tampa Bay area. And the facilities are always improving. I would highly recommend SCS, they will get your child ready for high school and life in general.
