Brighter Dental feels like an assembly line with dentists straight out of Dental school with no experience in dentistry. They're hygienists don't know what they're doing either. I was forced into a crown and root canal with a crown that doesn't even match my existing teeth and I can't afford to get it changed as now it is considered cosmetic if you have other options go and try other dentists in my area I highly recommend Dutch Neck Dental in East Windsor... in the attached picture my rear tooth was performed by Brighter Dental which is a very white Plain cap and although this picture does not do justice it does not look like the rest of my teeth the tooth directly next to that was just done by Dutch Neck Dental they said my gums were healthy and I did not need a root canal and the crown they just put on looks like my other teeth they did an amazing job so please avoid Brighter Dental as much as possible. After I complained at brighter Dental they said the tooth will change its color to my other teeth in a year and now it's been 4 years and it's still does not look like the rest of my teeth. read more

The WORST dental office in central New Jersey!! Do not use them, find someone else. I went to them last year to confirm an infection in my tooth because my dentist was on vacation and I needed confirmation to go to a root canal specialist. I ended up having a full set of x-rays done on my teeth and I was charged an ridiculous amount of money weeks after the fact. Today, I received an email from an incomplete phone number telling me that I owed Brighter Dental $12.00 (which I did not owe) and then telling me that I have been automatically entered into a concierge plan for $12.00 a year! NOT!! I called them so fast to tell them about this issue and all they could say was no problem, you won't be charged. Then, I had to call them to tell them to take me off their active list. They are a SCAM operation and it's no wonder they have a rating of two stars on Yelp! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a SCAM and everyone should be aware before going in. My first visit wasn't even a cleaning, just an exam. Then, they tried to tell me I had 8 cavities and needed $900 on top of my insurance to drill between my teeth, which was a lie. I was confirmed to have 0 cavities by my trusted family dentist just two weeks later. Additionally, every now and again they will send me bills for small amounts that I owe, only to be told on the phone that they made a mistake and I don't owe anything. The cherry on top, they will auto-enroll you in a concierge service for $12 a year without asking and you have to fill out a form with your information and contact information in order to OPT OUT of this paid program. Be careful, this place is a classic "bait and switch" operation. You can't trust anything they tell you about what their services will cost you. We went there for Invisalign for our daughter. They told us they contacted our insurance carrier, "confirmed" it was partially covered, told us how much insurance would pay, and told how much we needed to pay. We paid the agreed upon amount, but a year later, and without any notice, we began receiving additional charges from Brighter Dental on our credit card. When we called them they told us that insurance rejected the claim and that they were charging us the "balance due." They completely disregarded the fact that we only agreed to the service in the first place because they told us it was partially covered by insurance. Now it is clear they were just saying whatever they had to, to get us to sign up for their service. To add insult to injury, they don't even give you the courtesy of telling you that insurance rejected the claim, and allow you to decide how you want to pay the balance. Apparently they believe it is their right to just charge whatever credit card you used the last time. I am happy to pay for what I agree to, but I would hope to be treated with some courtesy, and not like I am just another credit card number they can dig out of their files and randomly charge whenever they feel like it. I don't know if their arrogance is another byproduct of their incompetence, or just another aspect of their poor business ethic and practices, but my family will never go there again, and I caution anyone who reads this against using their services. read more

Very unprofessional and horrible service. I have a lot of bad things to say, but the reason I'm writing this one star review is because of the horrible experience when I went in to get my wisdom teeth removed. The surgeon I spoke with for my consultation recommended I get IV sedation for the procedure. On the day of the extraction, the nurse walks me back to the room and casually tells me over her shoulder that the clinic ran out of laughing gas, but they can still do the procedure with just numbing (note that laughing gas is different from IV sedation, I'll get to this). I'm angry because I had this appointment scheduled for weeks. They knew I was coming, and yet failed to plan to have enough laughing gas for my appointment. They tell me this news 20 minutes after my procedure was scheduled to start. The other issue is that the surgeon I consulted with for my wisdom teeth recommended I get IV sedation, so I was under the impression I'd be getting IV sedation. But on the actual day of the extraction, I walk in to find that a different surgeon is doing the extraction and he's now telling me that Brighter Dental Princeton only does wisdom teeth extractions with laughing gas and numbing, except for this day where they ran out of laughing gas, so there's just numbing. No IV sedation and no anesthesia. If this is the case, why did Brighter Dental send me a price comparison of IV sedation versus laughing gas so I could view costs prior to the surgery? Also, why is it that I consulted with one surgeon who recommends one thing, and then ON THE DAY OF the procedure I have a different surgeon saying that I don't need anything the first surgeon recommended. This place is disorganized, and a mess to deal with. Communication shouldn't be this hard for a dental office. I'm also angry that instead of just admitting they ran out of laughing gas and offering to reschedule as the FIRST proposed solution, the surgeon kept trying to convince me that I could go through the extraction with just numbing. Seemed like both he and the nurse were completely missing the point that I did not want to be fully aware while my teeth were being pulled out. Am I wrong to assume that most people getting their 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed don't want to be fully aware and conscious of the procedure??? Somehow the surgeon could not seem to grasp that I WANTED to be disassociated by laughing gas for this procedure and was willing to reschedule to a day when they would have laughing gas. It felt like I had to be the one to propose rescheduling because they were hoping I would just settle for numbing. Their poor planning should not be my burden. I should not be asked to sacrifice my comfort during a procedure where my teeth are literally pulled out so that Brighter Dental can get money faster. My comfort was clearly not a priority at all, and this is not what I want from a dentist. The surgeon and nurse seemed to think I was upset because there wouldn't be any IV sedation or anesthesia, but I was really upset that after all the consultation nonsense and planning, I showed up and all they had to offer me was the absolute bare minimum. Also, I find it really inappropriate that this dental office doesn't have closed rooms. Everyone who walks by can see in (no doors, just divider walls). You will not have privacy while you're getting your wisdom teeth extracted here apparently. While I was having this very upsetting discussion with the surgeon and the nurse, I had the great displeasure of making eye contact with pretty much every patient and employee that happened to walk by the room. Don't waste your time with this unprofessional office! They cancelled our appointment 2 times and we haven't even started as a patient yet. The First reason was the dentist suddenly left the practice and now after waiting weeks for the new appointment, we get a call that the new dentist supposedly filling in for the dentist that left took a leave of absence. We never got a personal call, just a long text that mentioned them "reaching out" once they have a return date scheduled. Who would even want to wait and trust that a third appointment would even happen, ridiculous! I would give it 0 if I could. Worst customer service, worst management I ever experienced. I tried to help this facility to get paid from my insurance for a routine clean (my insurance told me that this facility put in wrong code and incorrect message) by keep communicating with my insurance. My insurance asked me to let this facility know that they have to give the insurance a call to correct the incorrect information provided. So that I called the facility and spoke with a staff regarding this information. The staff stated that the manager was on vacation and would take care this once she's back within a week. Two weeks later, I called in and the nasty manager name Alexis (not sure if I spell it right) gave me an attitude and stating that they did not do anything wrong on the claim and decline to give my insurance a call which their staff promised they would couple weeks ago. Later I found out that this facility put my insurance right to the voice mail so that they can never be reached. So that I have to be the one that put my insurance on hold during the call and called this facility at the same time to try to get them paid. Finally after waiting for a good period, my insurance was able to talk to the manager to asked for missing information be mailed. As a customer, I am truly disappointed with the unprofessional customer service this facility provided. I do not work for neither the dental insurance nor the dental office. I've tried my best to help but this facility just try to lay back and let others do their job! I would definitely look for other dental office! Awful, and threatened to pursue legal action against me and several others "working in concert with me" for writing "false" reviews unless I removed my review. My attorney mentioned that this was a bullying tactic and that the case had no substance. If you look at their Google profile, you'll notice that nearly all of the five star reviewers (who have weird cinematic names like reacher jack and vin diesel) have also reviewed the same three locations -- the other two being an ice cream shop in Santa Ana and a car wash in New South Wales. All of this hints toward a feeble and illegal attempt to obscure their honest ranking. The WORST. As other folks have mentioned- they have this weird policy about making two separate appointments for x-rays and cleaning, (which screams money making to me), and they definitely do not tell you that ahead of time. I had a long wait time in the lobby, only to be left in the chair for ages before seeing a hygenist who was super nice, but was definitely a smoker. No judgement on smoking- but she 100% had a cigarette right before my cleaning and I could literally taste it when she put her hands in my mouth. Do not visit this dentist. As other reviews have noted, they have a policy that new patients must make a separate appointment for a xray and cleaning. This involved taking two trips to the office within a week, which was difficult with my schedule. The office equipment had several malfunctions during my x-ray appointment. I'll start with the shred of hope: My hygienist was kind, thorough, and answered all my questions. Everything else, though, was very poor: 1. THE WAIT: The reception is extremely unorganized and unprofessional. When I walked in, I was not greeted nor instructed how to sign in, despite there being two receptionists sitting at the desk. There was no clipboard or anything, just ~6 piles of identical forms sitting on the desk. After standing at the reception desk for a few minutes, I asked how to proceed, and only then was asked my name, appointment time, and instructed to fill out the forms. They apologized for having to fill out the forms since it was a new system, but that was hardly the issue (forms are a normal part of going to a new medical practice.) And when I returned the form to the desk, neither receptionist picked it up to process it for ~10 minutes. I should stress that the waiting room was incredible quite (and empty) when I arrived. Then I sat down to wait, next to the only other patient, who was already there when I arrived. Aside from us, the waiting room was empty. About 20 minutes into my wait, the other patient asked when she could expect to be seen, and was told "just a few more minutes, but it's your choice if you want to leave," which seemed like an odd thing to tell a patient/customer, and also made it seem as though this was not the first time she'd had to ask how much longer she'd be waiting. Two other patients showed together up shortly after, and the teenager was called in a few minutes later. Twenty more minutes later, my name was finally called. The initial other patient got up and left, clearly frustrated that she'd waited more than 40 minutes with literally zero explanation from the office. Upon finishing my appointment and checking out, I had to, of course, schedule my actual cleaning (see #4, below), and try to schedule an appointment with the oral surgeon. Even the dentist shared this information with the receptionist when she dropped me off there, I literally had to prompt the receptionist to do so, and to ask all the relevant questions ("So... can I schedule a cleaning?" Sure. .... *wait*... "Okay, when is there an opening?" Does tomorrow work? "...when tomorrow?" etc.). And then I asked about scheduling with the oral surgeon and was told "he only works at the other office, and it's closed, so you can't schedule it now." So I asked when I could schedule it and was told "You can try tomorrow at your cleaning appointment, if the other office is open then." ?!?!? 2. THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF X-RAYS: Every time I've had x-rays done at a dentist (at least 4 different dental practices in the past 5 years, due to moving), there have been 4-5 x-rays taken. This office did 15+! The technician even made a comment about it: "People always say they don't remember getting this many x-rays, but we always do this many! I tell them it must have been a while since they've been to the dentist, and they're just forgetting." Although dental x-rays are relatively safe, this was at least 4x the typical exposure, and in the long-run, additional exposure is not actually good. 3. POOR BEDSIDE MANNER: I had next to zero verbal communication with the dentist, who displayed poor bedside manner. When she entered the room, she was in the middle of a private (friendly) conversation with the technician, who also came into the exam room. The hardly broke off the conversation to introduce herself quickly, then resumed the her conversation as they looked together at the computer screen for a few minutes. The conversation continued as her body language (but not her words) indicated that she needed me to open my mouth for the exam, and then switched into her listing off a series of three-digit numbers as she looked at each tooth (without explaining what was going on, or what each number meant). Upon finishing the exam, she told me I could consult with an oral surgeon about my wisdom teeth, and promptly left the room. 4. SCHEDULING: It seems unnecessary to have to have A) a consultation before having B) an annual cleaning. At the "consultation," they took x-rays and did the aforementioned exam. And told me to schedule a cleaning, which is what I actually wanted in the first place. I understand that an exam might end up indicating that a patient needs more than just a cleaning (for example, a referral to an oral surgeon), however, they're still going to need/get the cleaning regardless, so why bother separating the two? It just creates inconvenience by requiring someone to come back twice -- especially since you can't schedule the cleaning until you're at the consultation, at which point there might not be another opening for weeks. read more

I came here a few times b/c they took my insurance-- never, ever again will I blindly go to a dentist based on an insurance list. In a nutshell, they're pretty much a little shop of horrors-- It's so hard to find a dentist who's trustworthy nowadays! They recently emailed me to ask me why I didn't like them-- It was a weird email. Honestly, because they were not good. The work on my teeth were mediocre, at best. I did not feel clean. I go to a dentist for deep cleaning and they take HOURS and multiple sessions to deep clean my teeth. The dentists that I had gone to in the past pull up my gums and scrape under there to deep clean. Brighter dental took 10 minutes and didn't even go under my gums, claiming they had some UV light to deep clean. My gums didn't feel clean, but my insurance was charged for the same work. I'm not a dentist, but what do I know? I do know I do not like the work they did, or didn't do, on me. read more

Take your business elsewhere. I had a root canal last year and was given a crown that did not fit properly. When I went back they admitted they gave me a poor fit and scheduled another appointment for someone to look it at. After the second appointment they put a temporary on and scheduled a third appointment. I just had my third appointment. The man asked if i felt any pain, when I told him I did not he said okay and sent me to the front desk to schedule my FOURTH appointment to get fitted for another crown. This was something that common sense dictates would be done when I am already there. After my fourth for the fitting I will have to return for a FIFTH time to get it put on. All said and done I will have to go to their office 5 times because of a crown they did not fit properly. They clearly do not consider other peoples time and are not worth visiting. read more

This place I visited for periodontal evaluation for oral surgery as per suggestion of my dentist. The doctor sounded so hungry for money to remove all of my teeth and place dentures . I am not sure his capabilities as periodontist but the over all experience ended with time waste. As per him no surgical procedure is going to save the teeth as suggested by my dentist. What most surprised me there is no action plan suggested until I choose him my dentist.I was bit annoyed if he don't suggest other than removal of teeth why I need periodontist on top removal of teeth any duck will do why I need specialty. I went to Brighter Dental care with a terrible toothache. I found out about Brighter from the list of approved, in-network dental providers on my insurance company's website. I came in for a x-ray and they told me I needed a root canal. However, the receptionist couldn't figure out how to bill my insurance, so they kicked me out even though I was in a lot of pain. I wish that I'd checked reviews before going. Sigh. Okay... This was to be my introductory visit at Brighter Care Dental - Pton. I got there and the building is dissected in a funny way, so that you cannot walk through it to get to each office. Tough to find at first. No big deal. I walked into a back hallway, where it seems that employees go to smoke, as it was completely clouded out. Annoying, but no problem. I finally found the office and when I walked into the foyer, I was overwhelmed by a pungent foul odor. I thought... ew. Still, I went in to the poor receptionist and the inner office also smelled bad - like rotten, drilled, teeth? I don't know. That's the best descriptor I can come up with. So, I think, ew, again, but I approached the receptionist to confirm that I'd arrived. She then informs me that my appointment is actually for tomorrow. Last straw. Just yesterday, she referenced my appointment for "tomorrow" three times that I can recall clearly. Her closing salutation to me was "Okay, we'll see you tomorrow." I told her thank you, but she can go ahead and cancel that because the appointment was scheduled for today. I'm going to go ahead and chime in with the "do not go here" crowd. This place for regular dental care like cleaning is jut fine BUT fir anything else..... stay away. I think this is my ver first review ever. This people are horrible, sometimes the staff some of them are nice but the services that they provide are always a problem. My husband always has an issue and have to come back ti get some work fixed. But talking about orthodontist here: not sure how to start. Overall fine experience with Brighter Dental. I have been seeing them for a year for dental cleanings. My dental hygienist Angie is really friendly, professional, and courteous. Dr. Shariff who came by for a quick examination was also efficient and professional. However I am unimpressed with the front desk people - when I walk in, they don't even look up and curtly ask "Name?" without any sort of greeting (same impersonal treatment over the phone). Last year I had a particularly jarring experience - I was having terrible wisdom tooth pain and called the front desk for an appointment with an oral surgeon. The receptionist blandly told me there was no appointment available for 2 months, didn't offer any alternatives, and couldn't care less that I was in pain and asking for help. Needless to say I went somewhere else for my oral surgery and had a much better experience there. I think once you get past the front desk everyone is nice. read more

This is the first dental office I've been to in the Princeton area that I can recommend without hesitation. I had visited several other dentists in the area and they were not even close to the level of professionalism and patient care that I've been getting at Brighter Dental for the past three years. The staff here are prompt, courteous and warm. Most importantly, the dentists and assistants do an amazing job on your teeth and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I also appreciate how efficient they are...I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for an appointment. This is just my experience. I went here thinking to find a home. Boy was I wrong. I had an appointment to have gum surgery on Dec 6, 2018. I was called and told that my appointment was canceled. They said they would call me back to reschedule. Well, 3 calls later and still no date. As of this date 2.9.19 still no call back to schedule. I have now asked for my records so I can go elsewhere to have the surgery done. (JMHO....I think that this practice doesn't need the business. They have all the money they need). Like the others who have reviewed, I went here because it was on my insurance list - and I've been thoroughly disappointed. First, I've been in twice and they have overbilled me twice. In each case, I've had to call back multiple times to have the refund processed - even though they tell me they'll take care of it, they don't unless I call repeatedly. They wanted to schedule me with an oral surgeon for my wisdom teeth, but their billing office refused to code is as a specialist consultation, and wanted to bill it as an ordinary exam - meaning it wouldn't have been covered by insurance, and would have cost hundreds out-of-pocket. Luckily, I found a FANTASTIC oral surgeon who has done the work and gone out of the way to work with my insurance. This is a terrible office with horrible people at the front desk. They called me to offer me an earlier appointment than the one that i was scheduled for. I said that I would call them right back as soon as i checked with my husband that he could watch the kids. I called them back less than 2 minutes later to tell them that i would take the appointment and they told me it had already been filled. Who does that? How can you call a patient and offer them an appointment, and say that it's ok for them to get back to you in 2 minutes and then continue to give the appointment to someone else? They do not have any idea how treat people with any respect or professionalism. On top of that, I had another issue with them. They told me that they do not see or treat children under the age of 5; when I called to ask them to give me a referral for a pediatric dentist for my 2 and a half year old, they told me that she has to come in to get it so that they can charge the insurance company. When I said that they told me that they do not see children under the age of 5, the lady at the front desk told me that my 2 and half year old daughter still has to come in even though the doctor can't treat her. They refused to be flexible for a small child who is terrified of the doctor and who the doctor won't even be able to treat at all. I would not recommend this dental office location to anyone. Although the dental assistants and nurses were pleasant, the dentist who provided me with the consultation was mean, shrewd and bad-tempered. I had some valid questions and they were rudely dismissed. I even complained to the office assistant about the dentist's behavior. The woman was just not kind. She seemed annoyed and bothered by my questions. Perhaps she was threatened by my intellectual level and my knowledge of dentistry. That should not give a dentist the right to behave arrogantly and indifferent. The woman dentist's racist demeanor was also apparent. Also, they have a very outdated system, they make you sign and fill out whole bunch of forms. I was forced to fill out all of my personal information on approximately five different forms. Do not go here! The whole encounter seemed like a scam. I moved here from California where I was scheduled to have a root canal with an endodontist. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to get it done before I moved. Having relocated to NJ, I chose this office because it went with my dental plan. The dental director informed me that they couldn't fix my tooth with a root canal (covered by insurance at a negotiated rate) and instead recommended tooth removal, bone graft, and implant - $6000 not covered by insurance. When I asked to be evaluated by the endodontist, he refused. When I spoke with another dentist, he wanted to know why a bone graft was suggested as I have no other issues ie gum or bone disease. read more

I had been going here for a couple years, no major concerns, but certainly not the friendliest place to be. As others had stated, my insurance accepted them and they're conveniently located, so that's where I went. On my last visit I was treated especially rudely by the front desk staff and the dentist who wasn't even able to answer my questions about dental care - a field in which he's supposedly the expert. He turned the blame on me saying that I must be "getting lazy with the brushing". All of this after he did a cursory exam and informed me that I had 4 cavities. This didn't sit well with me, so I scheduled an appointment at another dentist that's farther away, but still takes my insurance. At my appointment with the new dentist, I was treated respectfully, had my questions answered in a professional manner and was told that I have NO cavities. I showed her the treatment schedule from Brighter Dental which showed the work that they were going to do and she double checked the x-ray and my mouth, comparing to what they claimed and confirmed again that I really have NO cavities. Do. Not. Go. Here. I got their name from my insurer and called up to schedule a cleaning and exam. They scheduled me for within the week, but when I got there, they had scheduled me for an exam only and it would take 2 months to get a cleaning. They said they never schedule a cleaning and an exam together. Why did they not tell me that? But that was only the beginning. The exam revealed a pretty bad cavity on my wisdom tooth. The tooth had to come out. They said I needed to come back for two more appointments: a consult with the oral surgeon and then an actual tooth pulling with the oral surgeon. This seemed like a lot of appointments on top of already having an exam with the dentist, but I called my insurance and they said both of the oral surgeon appts - the consult and the procedure -- would be covered. Okay, no problem then. But...when I'm all done and my tooth is out, they tell me I have to pay out of pocket for the consult. They say my insurance rejected the claim. I say my insurance told me the consult would be covered (I am arguing with them while my mouth is filled with gauze and half my face is numb). I call my insurance company from the parking lot and they say the claim was improperly filed as another dentist exam not an oral surgeon consult. They even give me the proper codes needed to refile the claim. I walk back into the dental office with this information and with a surprisingly nice insurance representative waiting on hold on my cell phone. The ladies at the desk refuse to talk to the insurer and this witch (the supervisor, I believe) comes out and says they never use those codes and they are not going to refile it. I say, "But it's covered, the insurer says it's covered!" She says I'm wrong. I say, but talk to the guy, he's right here on the phone. She refuses. Very ugly scene there in the waiting room! Anyway, needless to say I have not stepped foot in there again. For a while I was waiting for them to send me the bill but so far they haven't, thank God. They will get WWIII if they do! Aside: The oral surgeon was actually first-rate. He had my tooth out whole in literally 20 seconds, and it was slightly impacted. That said, do NOT, under any circumstances, go to this place. The front desk staff is simply so horrible - inept, arrogant, rude. The place seems to be set up like a dental factory and the patients are so many hogs going to slaughter. They schedule all those separate appointments - exam, cleaning, consult, procedure - so they can drive up billing. It inconveniences patients and results in higher costs for you and your insurer. read more

Great Experience! I went in for my bi-annual cleaning, and the hygienist was wonderful. She took care with my sensitivity concerns, and the cleaning itself was a breeze. Completely painless and quick. Was able to take care of a less-than-pleasant chore such as this on my lunch break. Had no trouble scheduling my next appointment six months out, either. Overall, would definitely recommend Brighter Dental Care in Princeton. read more
