The space is bright, welcoming, and easy to find...just be sure to leave yourself a little extra time for parking, as it can be a bit tricky depending on the day. Janelle was a fantastic host: knowledgeable, engaging, and made everyone feel comfortable and creative, no matter their experience level. The workshop setup was organized and fun, and you get to dye three items: two to keep and one that's donated to a great cause. It's such a thoughtful way to blend creativity with community impact. Was introduced to Brightly Twisted via Detroit Dye House through a work outing in early May. We all had our own stations to get creative at. The first item we were to design was designated for the local homeless community. The second item of our choice was whatever we picked. This was a super fun experience. It brought us all together creatively, supportive, and we all walked away with a story to tell. We had a great time at brightly twisted for our girls night! We purchased a "Buy now schedule later" deal and were able to call the shop and easily get on schedule for our group of 4. The team there is super friendly and excited to teach you all about the possibilities of tie dye. Added bonus: you can BYOB like we did! For our class, we dyed 3 items. Which I think is great value for the price. 1) A pair of socks - to practice/get the fundamentals of tie dye down. The socks are also donated back to the community which I adore. 2) A Detroit Dye House tote bag and 3) An item of your choosing - you can pick between a scarf, tshirt, or another pair of socks. Or you can choose to upgrade/add-on another item from their large selection of blanks which included sweatshirts, onesies, shorts, and more. All of the ladies chose to dye a scarf! After you dye your socks, you learn a few other rubber band techniques to get your desired design along with a bit about color theory. They have bottles upon bottles of colors for you to chose from organized by warm, cools, brights and neutrals. If you don't see the colors you want, you can mix your own or ask the team there for help. They are super friendly and want to help your vision come to life! After you get a little messy dying your items (don't worry there are aprons!), the team there washes and dries your items for you. In just a few days, they'll either ship them to you or you can return to pick it up in the store. Super easy! This was a wonderful experience and would love to come back for another class or to shop their store! Highly recommend for those looking for unique bday party, date night or friends outing ideas. read more

A HIDDEN GEM! My first time being here for an event and I fell in love. The workers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They are able to answer any questions you may have. They're all about giving back to the community. They do group classes which I have not done yet but already know it would be a blast. With directions on how to dye and even aftercare for your projects once you take them home. They also are a store where you can stop in whenever they are open to look around and shop their tiedyed pieces which are incredibly soft and worth every penny. It is a more expensive boutique but if you think about the work they put into each piece that's what makes it worth the money and unique. I highly recommend taking your friends and family here (kid friendly)!! read more

This was seriously an amazing experience. Took a friend and our 4 daughters, ages 9-13, to a public class last weekend. We all loved it and our pieces turned out fantastic. We want to go again. And the Detroit sweatshirt I bought my daughter is the cutest thing ever. And you get 20% off their products on the day of your class. Highly recommend!! FYI this is not the right location, they moved to Corktown in Detroit to a beautiful space. Easy parking on street nearby. I first heard of Brightly Twisted when I kept seeing their clothes on a good friend of mine, and finally asked her where she got them. I made it out to their Livonia location just in time for their moving sale, and was treated like family from the second I walked in. I followed them to their gorgeous Corktown location, and I've managed to accumulate quite a few of their pieces by now. They're my favorite pieces in my closet! All of them are soft and gorgeous, and I love that they're (quite literally) one of a kind. I always got compliments on my Brightly Twisted clothes when I wore them, but the comments I've been getting on my new mask have been something else! Everywhere I go, people ask me where I got my mask. I should start carrying business cards with me to hand out! read more

Haven't done tie dye since 5th grade! A very long time ago! Took a class last night. Was not the same messy experience I recall. Lots more creativity involved. Options are endless. Besides the fun class, which I recommend, they have a lovely array of clothing, scarves, socks etc etc for sale, done by the talented owners. I came across Brightly Twisted designs at the Ann Arbor Art Fair and was immediately in LOVE with their colors, cuts, and fabric choices. Definitely a creative group of people creating beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces. I left with three gorgeous hand dyed pieces and I was curious to see how they would hold up over washing and wear. Brightly Twisted has something for every occasion- from going to the beach to going out to dinner. I absolutely love my bamboo socks, scarves, and headbands. The bamboo socks are a particular favorite of mine because they are so versatile. I can wear them with a cute outfit and they are the perfect size to fit in my riding boots when I am at the barn. I have had positive experiences at Brightly Twisted in the past, but today was not one of those. Long story short, I was scolded by employees for being rightly upset that I had missed their holiday shopping event. The email that I was supposed to receive about the event never came, though I have signed up for emails three different times with Brightly Twisted. The employee kept rambling about their email glitch, and it was very upsetting to me, knowing I had signed up three different times; I just wanted to pick out a gift for my MIL so I asked her to please stop. She and another worker then basically flipped out, scolded me some more, and told me to leave. They scolded me that they "talk to 5,000 people on a daily basis and work with multi-million dollar companies," so basically my business is not needed. So much for "shopping small" and supporting small businesses; now that they have their "multi-million dollar" contracts they don't need us "peasants" any longer. read more
