Their prices aren't all that reasonable either - fairly elevated compared to other butchers. The owner seems to be scraping corners also. I shop here fairly regularly and the last time I spent $100, (his son?) was handing me a plastic bag for some small items so he rushes over and says "no more bags no more bags" and takes it away lol. Most small shops will give you a cloth bag when you spend a lot. This guy can't part with a plastic bag for some wet items. Anyhow, I'm all about the Impossible Burger these days so I don't shop here as much. This place is okay but I'd recommend one of the numerous other butchers around these parts.

The staff are friendly and they accept both cash and card. The store is small and the isles are tight. It's a little difficult to navigate through the store. This is definitely a grab and go type of place. If you need to do a full store or market run, this isn't the best place to go to. Try Key Food or Stop and Shop instead.

But I guess the customers that give the butchers money on the side as we see in front of our own eyes take precedence over loyal customers who never shopped for meat anywhere else in Bay Ridge. Lesson learned, you lost a repeat customer because your butchers give meat to who they want and save it for the people they like (who can give them money on the side). Bay Root Meats is very organized, very clean, never packed and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. If you need an item and can't find it in the store, they will walk you to where the item is. It is right on 5th Ave in Bay Ridge so street parking can be tough. This place has become my go to for my middle eastern products and as long as I live in NY I will continue to shop here.
