I am a first time home buyer. Scott from Brightside came to inspect the home I was purchasing. Due to the current pandemic, buyers are unable to be on-site with the inspector. Scott, however, went above and beyond and took video and pictures of the inspection, took extra video and pictures of areas of concern and then FaceTimed me to show me the areas of concern, so I could see exactly what he was discussing. Scott's report was VERY detailed and outlined every area of concern with pictures/videos and an explanation of the issue, what it could be caused from and if the issue is predicted to get worse. He ranks the areas of concern in three different categories, to clearly identify issues that are more concerning/pressing than others. We used Brightside Home Inspections when we bought our house, a recommendation from a coworker who had used them. It was our first time buying a house and the inspector was helpful and explained everything so we would understand. After he finished inspecting everything he walked us around the house and pointed out the most important problems he found which was a huge help. We were sent a detailed report with even more information the next day. We also had a radon test done which showed high radon levels. Between the radon and a few other minor problems were able to lower the purchase price by $2500 and get the radon problem fixed by the sellers. All in all a few hundred dollars saved us a few thousand and we learned a ton about the house that helped us when we moved in. Scott arrived on time for the inspection. He was pleasant to work with and took my wife and I through all the different areas of the house. He educated us along the way and answered all our questions. He was quite thorough and we appreciated that. We added the optional sewer scope inspection and it was the best $200 we ever spent! It turns out that the sewer line was badly clogged with root balls from a nearby tree in the front yard.
