We called beforehand and asked if we could just unplug the box and take it to our new apartment and plug it in. We were told no, the technician had to come out and do that. No mention of an extra charge. The bill comes, and we were charged for changing our address, and charged for the guy to come plug the damn thing in. When we called customer service to complain about the extra charges, we were told we should have just taken it over and installed it ourselves. That was not an option that was open to us at the time. The service has been fine, but our bill quadrupled this month with no warning, thanks to their stupid hidden fees. EDIT: I never got any contact back from them about this issue, but the extra charges were removed from our bill.

But it has ramped up to the point where we have days of intermittent service and I work from home. I cannot tell you the stress in trying to drive around town to find an Internet connection so that I can do the bare minimum. It is affecting my income. The last few weeks have been awful and at least one full day per weekend nothing. We were told that Duke Energy was replacing poles and that was the reason. But what I've notice is that my area has been having this trouble for months since Oct 2024. We have 'troubles' in Laurinburg with certain issues but I have noticed that certain areas or neighborhoods take the brunt. I am white and live in a predominately black area. I love where I am and my neighbors are wonderful. But I noticed that for electricity and cable/ Internet we are generally the last area to get service. That's what's happening now. When I call friends living in the richer-white parts of town, they tell me they have service and that their service rarely goes down. I spoke with someone recently in the industry that claims this is an actual thing. If they need to pull power, they do so in lower income or minority neighborhoods. And some of us are the ones working from home. And we won't get reimbursed for all of the down time. Also, one of the last times in speaking with a cust service rep, she researched our area and even claimed that we had a disturbingly large amount of outages and also very strange. For this post, I had to wait 30 minutes this because it's been up and down 4 x in that 30 mins. I think we need a class action suit. Seriously . What could improve you ask???? Get Verizon in here.

LJ ended up helping us out as well. He was helpful and funny, which made a potentially tense situation better. We were reluctant to sign the contract since it was for a one year contract. Like fools we believed the Comcast people on the phone when they told us we would be released from the contract if Comcast did not offer service at the new location we would be moving to. Turns out no Comcast service is offered at our new location. You guessed it. They will not release us from the additional 10 months on the contract. They lied to us and their management explained that Comcast cannot be held responsible for what their employees tell customers. The only thing that matters is what they tricked us into signing. I cannot tell you how poor this customer service is and what an awful experience it has been to do business with this company. We have never encountered anything like it. If I could have rated them with zero stars, I would have. "Caveat Emptor-Let the buyer beware". Now the public is aware!
