I am very pleased with the professionalism of this agency and the fact that the staff for aunt's care team is led by a RN and the caregivers assigned to her case are CNA's. My aunt is 91 years old and has 24/7 care and the caregivers we've worked with have been wonderful. They are very attentive to my aunt's needs, helping with her physical therapy and respecting her independence to make decisions regarding her schedule, her meals and what she wants to eat. I got hired and onboarded in April. Due to ownership changes, ADP payroll was inaccessible to new hires for 3 months. This meant you could not see your tax information or paycheck stubs for 3 whole months and the office staff refused to send copies of paycheck stubs. 7 clients in 3 months because some of them lied about their needs for a caregiver. Caregivers are not there to scrub toilets or put in IVs or catheters or to take vitals. We are not nurses or maids. I have dealt with a lot of verbal and emotional abuse from clients from this company. Family members screaming and cussing at me. I have dealt with inconsistent scheduling and promised full time work for consistent clients. The lady in charge of scheduling was inconsistent and unprofessional. She would miss emails from staff and clients and repeat harass call staff and clients. The ex owner and new owner would never write her up or take disciplinary action. Run, don't walk from this company. read more

My family hired someone from BrightStar to help my grandfather during the end stages of brain cancer. We also had someone help my mother after open heart surgery. In both cases, the health aid was wonderful. Very sweet, helpful, upbeat, and willing to accommodate all of our needs. Playing chess, helping with bath care, etc. Health professionals (Mom is a nurse and Grandpa was a doctor) are notoriously difficult patients, but the health aids were extremely knowledgeable and competent, so both health professionals were extremely happy with how well trained the health aids were. read more

My mom is severly ill ..dying at home ....we hired Bright Star for overnight caregiver because we cant do it alone. nobody showed up AT ALL...after we paid a full week ahead. the manager got fresh with me..... seriously? told me i need to understand "business" and "these things happen". after several calls they agreed to send in a back up nurse. too late! !!!! someone is dying...this is SERIOUS!!! its 3am and we have no nurse for mom tonight. SICKENING!!!! im beside myself. the worst service at the most needed time. they should be ashamed. read more

The staff at BrightStar Care is impeccable! I used them recently when I was in Chicago for a wedding to care for my father who has dementia. They were professional, caring, prompt and attentive. Nieces and Nephews oh my! When our planned babysitter bailed at the last minute on a Saturday night, I thought for sure our plans were headed in a bad direction. With no one to watch over the tiniest members of our group while the adults went to a dinner function, it looked like this get together was ruined. Taking a recommendation from the hotel Concierge, we called BrightStar. Surprisingly, no answering service on the weekend. We were able to speak to someone straightaway. After explaining our situation, they quickly ran us through their services and assured us getting someone for that evening would be no issue at all. The person we spoke to was calm despite our being all 6s & 7s with the last minute loss of our planned sitter. Withing a half hour we received a call back with the name of the person they would be sending over to care for the gaggle of my lilliputian relatives along with additional information. Turns out they do specific training for their staff, they are licensed by the state, bonded, and CPR trained, and whole bunch of things we had not even considered. 15 minutes before the appointed time we received a call from the lobby. The caregiver and manager were in the lobby. Introductions made, we were on on way. Night was saved! The gal was tremendous with handling the wee ones. Instructions (and trust me my sister-in-laws are the type who are one step away from handing one a three ring binder to watch the kids for 10 minutes). Everyone fed and in bed. Billing was a snap. Staff could not have been more professional. I thought for certain they would not be able to pull this off, but BrightStar came through in a pinch. read more

I had a very last minute need for a companion for my mom. She had just been released from the hospital and was moving to a memory care facility when I was asked to have a companion for her for several days. I wrote messages at midnight to several recommended agencies trying to find someone to help. BrightStar called me first thing in the morning. By 11:00am, they met me and had papers to sing. By 1:00pm they had a person in place with my mom. They were quick, professional, flexible, and extremely helpful in a time of great stress for me. I highly recommend BrightStar Care. read more

DO NOT USE FOR CHILD CARE! My son's regular nanny was not available one day and I utilized the backup child care benefit that was offered through my employer. A care taker was sent to my home to take care of my son for the day. She was a younger girl, I'd say late 20's. I'm fairly laid back with my son. He's an easy going guy BUT he is a toddler (19 months old) and does need supervision. I gave her four simple rules to follow: He can have a few animal crackers (like 5 but no more) for an afternoon snack, no climbing on certain furniture that I pointed out, and he can color with his crayons and markers at his coloring table but those things are not to be taken out of his room, and no TV. Well, I get done with work only to walk in on the "care taker" sitting on the couch doing homework, my son standing on the TV stand with Sex and the City on the TV. She was to have him in his coat and shoes by 4:50pm as my son's father picks him up for visitation at 5pm and he was still in his pajamas! So I run and get him ready to go to his dad's, she's packing up her gear and walks out as I bring my son out to his dad. I get back upstairs and notice the Costco tub of animal crackers that I just bought a couple days prior was half empty. I'm sure she ate some of those crackers but she also fed my son a lot more than 5 as he would not eat dinner that night and was throwing up at his dad's. Then, I go into the living room and notice that there is marker scribbles on the wall. Argh. The markers came out of the room. Okay, I wash the wall and the marker comes off. Not a huge deal. Then, I pick up a pillow on my couch to sit down and I find 1 1/2 cushion of my couch scribbled on with 3 different colors of marker. Not just a couple scribbles, but a lot. Oh my God. I'm pissed. 1. I'm pissed because my couch has marker all over it. 2. I'm pissed off beyond belief that my son had enough time to color this much on my couch and actually change colors 3 times without her supervision (or maybe she was just a total idiot and watched him do it.) WHERE WAS SHE while my son colored on my couch and wall??? NOT WATCHING MY CHILD as she is being paid to do, that's where she was. I was livid. Absolutely fuming. My son could have really hurt himself while she wasn't paying attention to him. NOT. COOL. So, I call the agency and explained what happened and expressed my frustration. I sent pictures of the damage. The agency apparently contacted the care taker and she simply stated that my son didn't play with markers while she was there and denied everything else that happened. The agency was through talking to me. They clearly do not care about the level of experience or the background of the people they hire. I will NEVER EVER use their services again and I have let people in my mommy groups know about the situation so they know not to use this agency. read more

I'm am so disappointed with BrightStar Care. We hired a nurse for our wedding weekend last month (May, 2018) to provide support to a sick family member. Our nurse was not only unhelpful but extremely unprofessional. For instance, she seemed more concerned with getting photos of herself taken (by our hired wedding photographer) than getting her patient food during the buffet dinner. What's worse is management didn't seem to care or make the situation right. I would not recommend this company to provide care for a loved one given their level of service and their disregard for disappointed customers. It baffles me how management wouldn't do anything in their power to right a wrong and expel a poor caretaker. After all, when you are in the business of providing care for sick patients, customer service should be a priority. read more

BrightStar Care is awful! We went through at least 6 different caregivers for our father before finally terminating our contract. The caregivers were lazy, mean to our father, and liars. I witnessed one girl yell at my dad to move because he was in front of the TV. That is just one example of the many red flags I witnessed. When I called the owner, she defended everything I mentioned and cared more about telling me how great she is. My siblings had the same experience with her. I could go on and on about what a horrible experience we had, but all I can say is DO NOT USE Brightstar if you care about your elderly parent. We switched agencies and the two woman who were sent right off the bat have been better than we could have ever imagined. They are caring, kind, and loving to our father. There are plenty of other agencies with qualified and competent caregivers. read more

My mother in law is in Chicago and brightstar care provides 24 hour service. They really stepped up when my family was in crisis. I am impressed with the level of professionalism the CNAs have and they have become family to us. I don't know what we would do without them. read more
