ALL the staff I've come in contact with while staying with my mom are friendly and helpful. Food - Your loved one can order from the menus, there are snacks placed out which at night, I find particularly helpful for my mom. . Fruit is always available in any of the cafeterias which are on every floor or take out/delivery is available. They also have spa type fruit water and tea available 24/7. *I mean, they don't have to put orange slices in the water dispenser or lemon in the tea...but they do, little things make a difference.* There's also plain still water and ice is available 24/. I saw a review saying the food isn't that great, I totally disagree with that; so far everything my mom has had has been really tasty. Amenities: There is free valet, a nice pool area, lots of scheduled activities, lots of vignettes for visiting, reading, etc. They even have happy hour. . There's a nail salon, hair salon and they do "field trips". They have tech time where I assume they help residents with their devices, different types of religious service (Jewish, Christian, for ex.) There is karaoke, bingo, afternoon snacks with lively upbeat music. Staff also engages and anticipates needs of residents in the times. Security - Everyone signs in and out on a kiosk at a staff manned desk to receive a printed sticker badge. Every single time, so far without exception. The first time you have to provide your ID and take a pic. Living arrangements: Assisted, Rehab and fully independent. I have yet to see a disgruntled resident, though there probably are some, the vibe is happy, helpful, upbeat. I've not seen/heard a single staff speak less than kind and caring to any resident. Physical/occupational therapy, certified nurses/doctors are also on staff/available. You can have your own personal sitter to be with your loved one. It's in the heart of the Galleria area, a block/two from Nordstrom and Dillards. So, everything is literally at your fingertips. Concerns: one so far. They don't really seem to have enough staff for moving low motility weaker patients say from bed to wheelchair or bedside potty. So, if you're not able to assist for some reason, that might be an issue for you. I am so glad we decided upon Brookdale. I've seen many others with other family members, this one is a blessing.

He had physical therapy come by today they took him brought him back next thing you know the nurse comes all mad shaking her head saying they told her something because he's not at dialysis when it's her job to take him, after he got back she put him in bed crushed his feet and didn't even say sorry after that she dumped the pee from his catheter spilling a lot on the floor and than she left, I called her back she come in raising her hands with an attitude asking what we want that she was coming back I asked her to heat up his lunch she left slammed the door came back the food is cold she left again once again slamming the door mind you almost all her shift she has been using her headphones blasting music loud that even I can hear it with the tv on, I also asked her for her name she didn't say it she had it covered so I wasn't able to get it. There was another time where I saw this guy nurse taking him to get his dialysis they pick him up with a machine since he can't get up on his own he told my dad to hold on the bars and once he was in the chair to get the dialysis his arm was stuck in between the bars and the guy told my dad that why was he holding on to it and that's when I told him he had told him to hold on from there and he just laughed than he asked me if I speak both English and Spanish and I said yes and I told him I understand both maybe he thought I didn't

I Hated having my dad here, I was so stressed out here no one took there job seriously. You have to visit daily cause if you don't you will regret it.? Skilled nursing was the only reason my dad was here.My dad got here at 300 on Friday was told that he would be evaluated on Saturday for skilled nursing and no one has shown up and it's 1130. I'm so angry because this place has no bad ratings that is why I choose capstone!!! No wheelchairs available so he laid in the bed all day Saturday and Sunday had an accident and no one came.I had to clean him up myself a few times while the aid watches me. Leslie was supposed to but she never came back and has the worst attitude like she do not need this job.if he wasn't so weak I would taken him home. Niecy helped change my dads bed. My dad has NEVER been in a skilled nursing he's 84 so I wanted this to be a good experience since they had no negative ratings. Q was very helpful. Shelia was the most helpful aid there. My dad was in the hospital for 2 weeks with pneumonia and laying there all day is a no for me. Places like this is not for the weak. Some of the people that work here is just for a pay check no love for the elderly. They don't clean your room unless you ask and then it's like I'll mop tomorrow or I'm not working on that hall and the weekend is worse you can't get nothing. They never have towels or sheets or pillow cases. Washing machine broke no towels dad couldn't bath for 4 days. EJ the wound nurse was amazing. Lisa in housekeeping was amazing. Physical therapy was amazing. La Vida the social worker was terrific! Thank Goodness we made it out the worst experience I've ever had everyone wasn't bad mostly the aids the people that take care of your loved ones and their living area. Training needs to be done monthly for the aids because they are idle.

He was flippant and ignored the fact my loved one needed speech therapy for swallowing even though we chose this location for this specific need. No one ever did speech therapy the 23 days my loved one was there which made his swallow issues worsen and lose weight due to lack of eating. The head of nursing was rude and ignored concerns. My loved one failed swallow testing and still she was covering for the nurse one day and brought my loved one pills to swallow and one got stuck and after that he refused to eat or drink even though we had started to make progress. My loved one ended up with a pretty severe uti due to lack of changing him and I had to push for testing to prove this was going on. They were dehydrating him significantly with 3 different types of stool softeners. We had to request Iv hydration due to how dehydrated he was. My loved one ended up with bruises on his toes from pushing against the bed as they are horrible cheap beds that aren't long enough for taller residents. If you are considering this facility go on the weekends. The place reeks of urine and fecal matter because the one wonderful cleaner they have doesn't work weekends. Also, request a camera in the room so you can verify care for your loved one no matter what facility you choose. My loved one was never taken out of his room to socialize or take to the lunch room. He was left in his room alone. Getting older is hard. Our loved ones deserve respect, nurturing and healing. Do better.

An 11-Day Stay That Changed My Recovery After a serious auto…read moreaccident and acetabular surgery at Ben Taub, I arrived at TIRR Memorial Hermann not knowing what to expect. What I found was a place where world class rehabilitation meets genuine human care, and eleven days later, I left stronger, steadier, and deeply grateful. From the moment I rolled through the doors, the environment felt different. TIRR's reputation for rehabilitation excellence is well earned, but what truly sets it apart is the people. Every single member of the team treated me like a person first and a patient second. The medical leadership set the tone. Dr. D brought a level of expertise and clarity that made a complicated recovery feel understandable and manageable. Dr. Kaitlyn was thorough, compassionate, and genuinely invested in my progress, the kind of physician who listens closely and treats the whole person. Together, they gave me confidence that I was in the right hands. The therapy team is where the real day to day work of rebuilding happened. Georgia, Suzanne, Kate, Matthew, and Hattie pushed me, encouraged me, and met me exactly where I was each session. They knew when to challenge me and when to pull back, and they celebrated every small gain like it mattered, because it did. The progress I made in eleven days is a direct reflection of their skill and their heart. The nurses and patient care assistants who looked after me are the reason I healed the way I did. Hawa and Daisy brought calm competence to every shift, never rushed, always attentive. Abby and Olivia had a way of making even the hardest mornings feel manageable. Andrea and Mayra were steady hands when I needed them most, and their kindness never wavered, even on the toughest days. Tessa always checked in with a smile that made the room lighter. Jose, the one with the muscles, and you know who you are, made transfers feel safe and easy, and always brought good humor along with his strength. Betsy paid attention to the small details that mattered: positioning, comfort, timing, dignity. Isabella has a gentleness that's rare, and Angela went out of her way more times than I can count. And Philip, thank you for the conversations, the patience, and the quiet encouragement when I needed it. The people behind the scenes matter just as much. Alisha in facilities kept my environment clean, safe, and comfortable, and always did it with a warmth that stood out. Sandra from the kitchen made mealtimes something to look forward to, checking in on preferences and making sure I was well fed and well cared for. These are the roles that often go unseen, and they shouldn't. This team didn't just do their jobs. They went above and beyond. They showed up when they didn't have to. They remembered the little things, how I liked my pillows, when I needed a minute, what made me laugh. Recovery from major trauma is a mental battle as much as a physical one, and these people carried me through both. If you or someone you love is facing the road back from a serious injury, TIRR Memorial Hermann is the place I would send them without hesitation. The clinical care is exceptional. The human care is extraordinary. To the whole team, thank you. I'll carry your kindness with me long after the hardware heals.
